It looks really easy to shoot a bow when your mounted, but i can assure you that it takes at least 4 years to master the bow. 4 more years to master the horse and then 2 more years to learn how to shoot when your mounted. (Because you need both hands to shoot a bow.)

I don't get it. I destroy as the Parthian/Armenian factions, but I hardly ever use Cataphracts. I use horse archers in the beginning and place the main (read: decoy) army in the very back composed of Archers and Eastern Infantry. Then I hide groups of Hillmen + Peltasts throughout the brush and intercept anything that gets to them. Ive had it happen several times where the enemy general charges headfirst into a unit of Hillmen he didn't see. By the time they reach the Eastern Infantry, I've won.

Guys, i dont get it how you finish the Parthian campaign on hard... I get wiped by Armenians and Seleucids on the first 20 moves... =:::( I was trying to mass the Persian Cav, and Catphracts but didnt get enough time to get those builds in place... Can some tell me the secret?

@Imperialuhlan Ally with the Egyptians. They tend to wipe out the Seluecids really quick. Also ally with Pontus if you need to beat Armenia. For some reason it's easier to ally on hard and very hard than on easy and medium.

What he should have done was put all his archers into the town center then move his calary as a second line of defence (Around the archers) while usuing his Pikemen as a fist line of defence (Infront of the calvary) on all three sides so his archers could pick off you're men while the pike men and calvary kept them from reaching his archers so they could first take out your archers then calvary and finnally your infantry. Though i'm not sure if it would be sucessful.

im a noob in rome total war i did a lan battle against a friend of mine he played the romans and i the parthians his army mostly consisted out of urban cohorts u had some horse archers 6 units of them i think 2 cataphract horses and 2 cataphracts camels and the rest were archers i lost horribly everything was going well till my cataphracts routed and his cavalery chesed my horse archers he charged his main line at my archers and caughtup with them bassicly its a slaughter anyone has any tips??

If it was mainly cavalry, try to put it quite a few spears

You when facing the romans an archer based army is not usually the best...

But when you do use missile a missile army:

For your basic roman army you will need to move your troops around a bit, spread his troops out, and flank him with heavy cavalry...Also, I noticed you didn't have any light horses...you need that speed against weak troops, cataphracts are slow(for the most part)

not with that faction...that faction is just a bad faction...I wouldn't play a roman army with them...and the spearman should absorb weak cavalry and work as a distraction while you mount a charge with your cataphracts with a flank

Partians...yeah...you you what little infantry you have to absorb, scatter, and weaken his troops(with a mainly cavalry army then it is usually the cavalry)then you surround him with archers and fire away...you will have to charge in with your cataphracts through the gaps you create in his army...if you see no gaps they you need to flank...eastern spearmen are absorbers...they are weak and dissposable...still have a unit or two in your army...

Best archers for melle r pharohs bowmen and Gaul archer warband. Best archers for range Parthia. Best ranged unit not including archers britians head hurlers. Most versitile unit Roman Legionairs they r like haveing skirmishers and swordsmen in one unit. Best Calvary catiphract camels they r intimidating Best unit Spartan hoplite or any elite phalanx. Worst unit besides peasents town watch and eastern infantry

Well u conquer smthn that gives u income, and move your capital west as ur empire grows, cause Arsakia wont really do the job. At the beginning go to Seleucia and try to get the other Seleucid cities, they're always in trouble at the beginning, so it wont be a problem. Once u get some big cities on the coastline, your money problems will be solved:) Good luck arno:)

id like to see you fight a city battle against the greek cities.

there is no way parthia will beat armored hoplites in an urban fight,even elephants will get mauled and u cant use your horse archers good at all in an urban setting with walls

Are you kidding? Parthia is the best faction in campaign. You don't need to fight city battles, and if you do you can just pick them off with archers. You can win any battle with a force entirely comprised of persian cavalry and cataphracts.

Cataphracts are the modern day equivalent of dropping a tractor on your opponents.

as parthia the chances of beating armored hoplites/spartan hoplites without being able to flank em are slim to impossible.

even with horse archers, they hardly damage phalanxes from the front, due to their large shield and in the case of armoured hoplites they can barely scratch em because of the amount of armour they wear.
