  • forget the rugby ... is he a real man? i think he s not because he left alot of people hurting in his personal life , and we call him a hero mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not in my books

  • fantastic - who were wigan hammering?

  • Great stuff. Even though the quality is not all that good, you can still tell the class of the players.

  • Fantastic to see the Wigan lads in full cry! Boston was, and is, magnificent.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • did they use to contest scrums back then?

  • Sat on the great mans knee (Billy B) in a hotel in Melbourne in 1992...Eric Ashton was there too. GB had just stuffed the Aussies 33-10 at Princes Park and we had to wait until 5am for our flight back to Sydney. He was such a fun unassuming guy and laughed like there was no tomorrow although he must have thought 'get this fat sod off my knee' we were all British and we were all on a massive high plus we drunk the pub dry 4 times in 7 hours....best night of my life !!!

  • Fantastic clip. As Billy Thompson once said, these were the days when a high tackle was one that missed!

  • Pretty sure it looks like Whitehaven - white with a chocolate, blue and gold hoop

  • Wonderful trip down memory lane. Do you know who Wigan's opponents were? Looks like Wakefield Trinity to me, or maybe Workington?

  • Looks like Whitehaven colours to me.

  • A tantalisng glimpse into the past. Many thanks for posting.

  • Absolutely fantstic video

  • i thought everything was in black and white in 1964? i thought colour wasnt invented then! there's even a hoody in the crowd on 27seconds!

  • wow !!! billy boston is my uncle an to see this footage of him is amazing thanks x

  • What a fantgastic piece off footage, never seen that team play, only seen old black and white photographs, and being able to see Boston scoring tries right in front of you. wow. There aren't that many grainy black and white films of him playing, let alone full colour.

  • Absolutely fantastic bit of footage!

  • I'm afraid this is all I've got. I've still got the original 8mm film. It deserves a better copy than I've managed with a digital compact camera, but at least it's being seen now.

  • What a Gem - Have you any more ??
