  • amazing track from a perfect album.

  • That isn't a seventies song--it's a classic.

  • Brilliance.

  • It is so cool Mike thatyou comment and respond to the people who love your music. So melodious. This is really a great one.

I have a bootleg album,? that i got at a record fair with Jack the Lad on it. Was it a British Album? Or bootleg?

  • @BrianDeYoung64 It's a compilation of all of our demos, most of which were recorded in an hour or three. It was recorded in England before we signed to Chrysalis, or any other company. However, the tapes were stolen and all sorts of people have illegally released and sold licences on it.

Personally, I have no problems with people honestly buying it. I have other feelings towards those who stole.& illegally released it.

It's substandard, obviously, but it's also a historically fascinating album.

  • thank you MC, I will endeavour to get it right :) the song deserves it

  • @russellmilkins You're more than welcome. Funnily enough, the open tuning secret is precisely why so many people struggle to get it to sound right. I get a big thrill from being able to 'unlock' the padlock for those giving it a go on this one, so to speak.

On reflection, I actually think I wrote the music for it back in 1974 as we played it when we were only a 2 piece with Brock sessioning on drums. I knew it was a very special piece when I wrote it. As a piece of work I couldn't put it down.

  • @The1stBaby So beautiful. Thank you for sharing your amazing gift with us. I'm glad it is still here for us to enjoy! ;-) the memories bring me peace

  • beautiful song, I am hoping to play it with my son on my 50th (sadly I dont sing as well as Jon, but can the guitar bits reasonably). thanks for posting this

  • @russellmilkins Let me give you a helping hand. The guitar part is written and played in an open tuning. ie; try tuning your strings to the chord of E Major by raising the 3rd string (G) by a semi-tone to G#, then raise the fourth string (D) string by a full tone to E and finally raise the fifth string (A) to B, by a full tone also. You will then get more of the EQ feel of the chords by doing this as that is how I found the inspiration to write it, back in 1975.

    Have a great 50th.

    MC.

  • You know whats really amazing is that when I see Mike play and watch these old film clips, I want to play my guitar and I am in awe of the music/arrangement, etc.. I have watched some of the Waite stuff , especially the new stuff appearing on the net. I get the feel of a struggling musician trying to just make it, or a has been..Wierd feeling. I can't watch it. Yes it would have been great to see a reunion w/out Waite to put everything to rest..but the Tony and Wally are just as guilty I think.

  • The way I see it, the Babys are the past, or they should be. Michael back in a new format, having nothing to do with the past whatsoever. It would not make a lick of sense for a second. The past needs to be buried once and for all, and how better then a new beginning. It's like getting over an old girlfriend; gotta move on to do that. To say "it's too late" is to say "our imagination is limited." Waite didn't blow it, he saved MC from a momentary lapse of reason.

  • Waite blew it, there was a chance for a 'true' Babys reunion and Waite balked at it. MC said enough is enough and took the reunion off the table. Agree, MC is the musical genuis behind the Babys, just look at the work that Snowchild has provided. All of these Babys classics are near epics! Would love to see MC and TBrock and W Stocker get together and bring in another singer and play the classics along with new MC influenced gems! What a great story that would be.

  • @ Botox, yes well aware of this, and your words (musical genius) plays right into what I am saying. If there is a will, there is a way. We can all see the future in a glass half full or half empty. We choose!!! I choose to see him doing what he was born to do. "People not knowing" That's his destiny??? I refuse!!!

    Peace!

  • @ ipc2469; I wish you luck in this. Mike has been shafted so much and lies circulated about his involvment in the band for so long I doubt if anyone could convince him.I would love nothing less, I am just a realistic person. The music business sucks in a big way and many people have sucked to get there. Michael has not and will not. He is a musical genius second to none. People not knowing does not make it untrue. He owes nothing to nobody. u shld Ask Waite to pony up.Don't hold your breath!!

  • I would like to get a chain going of all the MC fans out there that would love to see him back in the studio again so his thousands of fans around the world could once again enjoy his beautiful music. All it take is a little momentum and who knows what it can create. Hope to hear from all of you very soon! It could also help motivate a recovery from his recent injury, and a rebirth of his career. "if we build it, he will come" Its long over due! This is a post for positive thoughts please!

  • Being able to see this band in an actual live gig video is a wonderful playback of the past when things were good and the future was bright for this band and all its fans. 31 years now and all we have is the memories, and to image what ones life would have been like having their music continue to evolve. We were all robbed of that opportunity! It sickens me to think about it, and the destruction it brought to individuals.

  • Love this song!! Thanks for sharing!
