@mattarmani Not necessarily. ADT installs many different brands of security systems, including this one (note that ADT does not make security systems -- they only install, maintain, and monitor them). So it really depends on which brand system they install.
I temporarily (for the video) programmed that button as a "Trouble by day/alarm by night" zone type. Panic buttons are normally programed as some type of "24-hour alarm" zone type.
Also, why didn't you press the fire button and get the fire sound out of that for the video? Is that system programmed to dial 911 if you press the fire button?
I was too lazy to disconnect the siren for the video, which would have gone off had I pressed the fire button. The system was not monitored at the time of the video, so it would not have called 911.
I thought that if the system was monitored the signal was sent to the same place reguardless, and the monitoring station was told by the machine if it was a burglar or fire alarm, then called you FIRST to make sure it wasnt a false alarm and if you didn't call it off properly THEN they dialed 911 and reported whatever the alarm said
No, at least not with this system. The alarm's programming determines what is sent, how it is sent, and when it is sent. To the user of a monitored (alarm-company installed) alarm, however, it appears the way you describe because they generally control and maintain the alarm's programming. The user is often locked out from programming mode, and the alarm company can reprogram it remotely if needed.
As for whether 911 is dialed before or after calling the responsible party, that is completely up to the alarm company and the user. It is commonplace with home alarms to call the homeowner prior to dispatching police (for burglary signal), but to dispatch the fire department (for a fire signal) prior to calling the homeowner.
do you know any of the programming codes? I have a vista 20p and I am trying to add a 6150rf keypad

If you were to put the system into Test mode, would the panic buttons be disabled?

So is the medical panic programmed as a "24-hour auxillary" alarm?
elevatorgeek1234 2 years ago
Correct -- no siren only keypad alarm, and call to the central station if so programmed.
