@YTMbrianpeppersND Please be more specific!!! According to your logic Supreme Court judges do not need to got to law schools. We should accommodate them in a ghetto instead, to gain the so called "real life experience". By the very same experience do you mean standing in the line to get the welfare check?
@Buskauskas That isn't what I said at all. My logic (which you so immaturely skewed) was that the life experience gained in a childhood similar to Sotomayor's would add to the education a law school provides. Sotomayor herself said this.
You're obviously being as difficult as possible. You blatantly employed a slippery slope fallacy and a post hoc ergo propter hoc argument. Not to mention you used three exclamation points.
@YTMbrianpeppersND Well I also asked you to be more specific about the "real life" experiences that made Sotomayor a better candidate for the Supreme Court. Did you know that she totally butchered the case with the firefighters(ask me for details if you are not aware of this case), and the mass had to be cleaned up by other judges. Experienced judges said that promoting Sotomayor to Supreme Court was like letting a pilot who can't operate a Sesna fly a jumbo jet. I totally agree with that.
I like the sexy mexican judge on the people's court. This was RACIST and EVERYONE KNOWS this was RACIST. FUCK obama and his RACIST bitch ass. Heres obama protecting another RACIST. Whats obama mean a farmer in Iowa? I know this guys a JOKE and so was this SALTYMAYO's comment. If it was Kramer or a white judge and the comments were turned the other way then I'm sure WE would ALL have to hear obama and watch Him invite the 10 people over to have a beer.America's FUNNY these days.
as a justice one shuld b careful bout their comments. i dnt think dat was an appropriate comment bt i do think it wasnt said in bad faith n wit a racist undertone. d coomments she made r racial nt racist!
I think I'm just as concerned with President Obama's comments related to his understanding of what a judge's role is as I am with Sotomayor's comments. Why is he so concerned with a judge being able to stand in other people's shoes? When faced with two sides of an argument, will she try on both side's shoes and rule in favor of whose had it more difficult? I think upholding the constitution and the law is the main criteria, not empathy.
A person's character, class, race, social status, etc. should not be used when making a ruling in the court of law. Judges are NOT policy makers! They are there to rule on the laws already in place. PERIOD. And what is it with Obama and his administration always telling the public what someone "meant" to say? If what that person said doesn't work for Obama and his administration, they simply sugar coat it to make it easier to swallow. More kool-aid anyone?
NO JOKE! lol I strongly agree! I just find it odd that blacks/Dems/and any other "minority" can say whatever they want and its OK...
No she is pathetic and a joke! She said she is more qualified due to her hardship as a Latino, and that a white male just doesn't understand due to "his" kind of life experiences...
bahahah well I am so glad Obama was able to explain it for me....
The "struggles and hardships that people are going through" have nothing to do with the constitutionality of a law and have no place in a supreme court ruling.
Those who want to weaken or destroy American need to be thrown out now. Being afraid of the "hispanic" vote is not a reason to be afraid do what is right!
it must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people
What a crock of Obama. This guy is EMBRACING a justice making decisions based on EMPATHY! WTF?? Does anyone even know what the fuck the job of being a judge is anymore? For God's sake... the fact that he thinks judging is based on feelings is more scary than the fact that he nominated a fucking racist.
Jesus... this is just amazing. "Traction?" Fuck that! It's OBVIOUSLY racist! She is a racist! She's a member of La Raza for God's sake! Nothing like the democrats to embrace a racist.
'La Raza' means 'THE Race'. Sotomayor is a major figure of La Raza. La Raza pushes for open borders, amensty, driver''s license, free education, free healthcare, free welfare for illegal hispanic immigrants. Sotomayor is a main pusher. Sotomayor says that the 2nd Amendment does NOT guarantee U.S citizens the right to bear arms. Obama is a gun ban/control fanatic, and Sotomayor will make gun ban possible. People are stupid as hell to think this woman is a good choice for the Supreme Court.
I'll tell you another major figure of 'La Raza'...his name is Alberto Gonzales. You know, Alberto Gonzales who told W. Bush that torture was legal. Isn't it just a COINCIDENCE that when Americans want Bush tried for the torture war crime that a supreme court justice steps down, and Obama appoints Sotomayor, who Bush SR. made a federal judge in 1991 and is a fellow member of La Raza with Alberto Gonzales.
I wonder how Sotomayor would vote to convict W. and Gonzales for a war crime(sarcasm)?
Gonzales is not, nor has he ever been, a "member" of La Raza. At one time he was on the board of a group called the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA)..HUGE difference there.
@bbnemesis123 So you made multiple argumentative fallacies in there, but everyone knows you've got an incredible bias, so you can't ever be convinced the other way. Unfortunately for you, Obama was elected. Fortunately for democracy and the majority of the population, Obama was elected. America wanted Obama. You wanted...someone else. YOU lost; but who are you to hold your opinion above that of the majority of America?
Obama will say anything to get her where he wants her, its for his benefit. He also still defends Geitner, that should be a big clue that you shouldnt care what Obama says.
This is coming from a George W. Bush supporter, which you'll probably deny and say you're and Independent Libertarian, lol. The great thing is that America told you what they think about your opinion on Nov. 4th. You are a moron and should worry about your own diminishing party, moron, lol.
Big difference. People are waking up and taking notice to Obama's agenda. His supporters (you) will have to answer for his antics. Defending what Bush did will be a cakewalk compared to what you are going to have to do in defending Mr. Obama. Have fun! lol
ROFL! What? I really do think that Republican's have convinced themselves that America has " buyer's remorse", is how one Republican put it, lol. That's why his approval rating is at 60%. You Republican's are in such a tail spin you have lost your grip on reality. Please continue to think like this, this shows that Republican's haven't quite yet realized that they are the one's who are diminishing and have no credibility with the American people,so sad, yet entertaining to watch- so thanks:)
Democrats, Republicans, blah blah blah....it is now about America. Like I said earlier, be prepared to defend Obama's policies. Our children will have some pretty though questions they will want answered. For instance, how can a president take over a bank or an automotive company? Where did all the money go? Why am I paying for budgets that are 20 years old? Just a few there, so prepare yourself...lol
So since when living in a ghetto makes you a better candidate for a judge?!?!

I agree with the video poster. No one gave Trent Lott a mulligan. One comment, an ambiguous one at that, cost him his career.
I doubt Soto would have restated it. It was in an essay, not off-the-cuff the way Lotts statemet was.
Her statement was to forward a particular ideology not congradulate an old man who was retiring, like Lott's statement.

What makes Guthrie think there's only "heated rhetoric" on "the right"?
What about the center and left?
Is it possible that no one else thinks that Sotomayor's comment was reason to raise some eyebrows?
I somehow doubt that.

big difference?
AAMA is an AFFILIATE of NCLR(National Council of La Raza).
affiliate vb. : to associate as a member
Do you understand what 'affiliate' means? AAMA is a part of NCLR. If you are a member of AAMA, you are a 'member of the associate' NCLR.
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!
