  • i didn't know Richard Simmons the aerobics gay dude played guitar. awesome

  • 4:01 is delicious with the bending and Hamm just slamming on that bass. This is just three of the very best artists playing in perfect harmony.

  • This has always been one of my favs from Joe..... God the memories.. no pun intended.

  • wow that sustain!

  • Woah! Bad trouser! Way to go Joe! I meant it in a good way, though.

  • and YA!!!...WTF is with that outfit?! HAHAHA

  • ?

Sorry, I just don't get this...I respect JS and all, but...agh

  • Satch con pijama.

  • wtf is with that outfit?? xD

  • @lakajd It's the 80s man :). Great era of music. Great tone at the begining :)

  • @drakonepl well, seems to me joe tried to go with fashions to be noticed a little,i mean there's a video in '91 where he dresses like he's in pearl jam lol

  • @lakajd well, I saw the video too. It seem to me that being in this business always will put some pressure to go with fassion - maybe I'm wrong. At the end of the day the sound is the most importatn thing ;)

  • Old hairy days! good staff as always Mr. Satriani.

  • his facial expressions are priceless

  • WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE GLASSES! :-D

  • @elshafto111 Jonathan Mover

  • SUPERB!!!! THIS is how an electric guitar was MEANT to be played :)

  • joe rules

  • @onraj9mm You mean he should play this life with the same outfit on! :p

  • what a great player !!!

  • Wow what an amazing performance. i actually saw this live in newcastle.

    Awesome!!!!!

  • This is actually one of my favorite songs from his earlier albums...Just shows he was destined for greatness!

  • Imagine if Jimi Hendrix were still alive today and they were playing side by side! Joe reminds me so much of Hendrix with the feeling he displays, while he plays. Satriani......there can be only 1 !!!

  • i like the part where he plays the guitar

  • I've heard him play this live. Best night of my life.

  • OMG 4:29 - 4:54 is amazing!

  • Man I have to say this. Ive been listening to rap/jazz most of my life but have recently been discovering music like this. This is absolutely incredible man. Wish I would have discovered music like this years ago, I feel like Ive been missing out now.

  • @03blaird ha ha soloist's are the way batio romeo vai malmsteen stump satch there all gods

  • 75% of poeple saw this video because they see the Satch's hairs !

  • Man, this song brings back so many memories!!! Love it!!!

  • Before I leave this world, I have to see this man play in concert!

  • @guitarguy316 dude i just saw him in boston and just amazing like you think hes good here wait till you actually see him live its rediculous!

  • 5:10 cumbia!!! xD

  • Was it Campitelli as a drummer back then too ? And Stu Hamm? Man all three are barely recognizable :p

    Cool song !

  • i love satch he doesnt wear this anymore cause steve vai probablly took over it ahahah

  • lol I bet he looks back on this, looks at what he was wearing and thinks, "My God! what was I thinking?!"

  • 6:58 How does Joe do that bend effect, it sounds amazing I have heard him do it on the ''Satriani Live'' version of ''One Robot's Dream''. I also love the screaming harmonic at the end, it sounds so incredible.

  • joe played this song, 10 feet from me. in calgary alberta on january 5th. this man has changed my life. i view music differently now, and my fingers are developing wicked caluses because i havent stopped shredding since. thank you joe. you are by far my biggest inspiration!! X)

  • @dimebag4ever426

If only you could have seen Dimebag literally a couple of feet away back during the Vulgar Display of Power album tour. Being able to see him playing note for note was as good as it gets. I felt like I was getting my free guitar lesson just as the band was getting free weed tossed onto the stage:)) Satch+EJ together when EJ was not known was also spectacular being close enough;) Bless the world for the famous and infamous great musicians!

  • It's a well known fact that a mans 'Guitar Face' is exactly the same as his 'Cum Face'.

Also a spandex body suit should always be worn with a pair of basketball shoes for the total rock star effect.

  • @edgrrr101 hahahahha

  • I will boar your babies Joe. I beg of you.

  • @albacoredelight hahahhaa

  • 16 people are deaf. And retarded. And probably listen to Metallica.

  • damn! i was born that year!

  • Love this vid. I want Stu's bass! It looks sick.

  • OMG that hair xdd

  • OMG, This is a great surprise !

  • How is it possible that 16 people dislike this???

  • @reshman1981 because they don't understand that's all. A 9 years old child does not understand the problemtic question in math.

  • he looks like he just jizzed in his pants

  • Joe Satriani helped design my gazebo in the late 80s.

While he was busy doing that...

STU HAMM fixed my car, cleaned my gutters, planted some trees, mixed some concrete, cooked a BBQ, shot some guns, mowed the lawn, fed the horses, rewired my stereo, and helped assemble the kid's playground.

  • It's funny how Joe looks younger now in 2011 than 1988..

  • I miss that lineup. Mover and Stu were explosive together.

  • Jonathan Mover for President !

  • Too many good parts in this song and obviously a perfect song from start to finish, but that 4 minute bending was just pure explosion within the context prior to and after.

    Divine!

  • i just noticed that i've got a Joe Satriani guitar strap with that same outfit pattern, eheh

  • He just played this in Vancouver on fridAy, it was great. The whole concert was unreal!! Andelusia was really good too and summer song!! Well for that matter so was ice 9 and always with me always with you!! Everything was awesome, what a concert!!! :)

  • oh man this is soooo good!!!

  • Saw him play this live last night... unreal!! So great to hear this one live.

  • lulz XXXXXXXDDDD

  • well its a jazz festival

  • Freddie Mercury on guitar

  • @pitbulowiec- lol. That was my comment a couple of months ago. You go back like 13 pages and you can still see it.

  • New Satch is great, but old Satch was just f'ing gold...

  • @ onraj9mm: the magic was caused by Satch's outfit which doesn't fit him anymore..

  • He played it live in London this year Oct 2010. It's a great track!

  • This is what Axelrod sent me toobers:

you little fagot, jealous wannabee...where r u...gimme your address so i can fuck your wife and kill your kids....while you watch...then ill cut your fingers off and make you eat them..then bash your face in...i wont need no gang...your the pussy that comments and runs away..and your lame threats..your mexican gang wants you dead too...

Why you ask.?? It's because he failed to pay me for fucking his POS lady.

    20 bucks ? She has AIDS !!!!

  • glad satch went back to marshall's !!!!!

  • It will never be like it was then. Even he will tell you that

  • TOTALLY SICK! PHEW!!!!!

  • 5:50... that's the proof that Vai was his student ;-)

  • what an energic performance, what an energic "memories". woow

  • That wuz beautiful... id like to see more of old school Satriani

  • haha,,, Joe Rips but that outfit is ridiculous!!

  • we hear this song yesterday evening at the show in Padua!

  • Stu Hamm?

  • @rebaaecu

You got it...the ever wonderful trio of Satch, Hamm, and Mover!

  • Awesome performance. Joe is the best guitarist by far. Thanks for sharing.

  • satch should play this live again

  • @onraj9mm totally agree... i think this is a pretty rare song to hear live

  • @onraj9mm he played that yesterday, in padua.

    was so awesome! :D

  • @onraj9mm he did on the 2010 tour i have one of the setlists ;)

  • @onraj9mm Hey....he's going to!! Did some research, and "Memories" is on his "play list" for the Worm Hole Tour....going to Boston on 12/09/10 !! LOnG-time fan....Satch is the MASTER....... Greetings from Cape Cod!

  • @onraj9mm He played it live in London this year, its a great track

  • @onraj9mm He plays it in his 2010 tour.

  • @onraj9mm in fact he did so the 12th November in Padua. Amazing even if the song was was a bit slow paced

  • @onraj9mm

he actually did 1 month ago in vienna!

  • @gthurnher

    Yeah, fucken detuned 1/2 step?

  • @gthurnher Holy shit...i bet it was just as badass even if not in his prime

  • @gthurnher and in mexico city he played the powerful song :D

  • @onraj9mm yeah he's back doin this live now.

  • @onraj9mm He did two weeks ago in L.A.

  • @onraj9mm he played it when I saw him in Glasgow, Scotland as well last October

  • It was @ 4:30 - 5:20; that the licks of the guitar can be played this well

  • Probably my favourite Satch song... not sure about the outfit though!

  • 4:37 looks like he's taking a piss.

  • can't he have hair anymore?

  • This is EXACTLY what I was looking for...the stripped down trio of Joe, Stu, and Jonathan only! This music in the late 80's brings back so many memories for me (no pun intended). This really was the best time of my life and Joe helped make it so.

  • i dont know why he doenst played this song live any more ...since 90¨s :S

  • dvsdes...he understands the offs ons...the dynamic....its like a wave of intensity...sometimes low..then high

  • 3:53 - 4:06

  • does he not play this well anymore? Or is it just me ???

  • forget satch for a moment, that bass player is epic

  • @sdalton. Jonathan Mover. great drummer

  • Who's on the drums? I never got a good look. Is that Jeff?

  • Lol Satch is high

  • why doesn't he wear that outfit anymore? :(

  • @MyNamesToast He got his eyesight back, that's why :D

  • @MyNamesToast hmm. i wonder.

  • @MyNamesToast Hi toast (:

  • @slashy04 howdy (:

  • @MyNamesToast he doesn't wear his hair anymore - why would he wear 80's stuff?

  • @MyNamesToast cause he's bald now, and wearing that would make him look like the guy from the Richard O'Brien from the Crystal Maze xD

  • @MyNamesToast

So much so. I can't get enough of this performance and how passionate he is.

  • @MyNamesToast i was there !

  • @MyNamesToast Why doesnt he let his hair grow up anymore? :( xD

  • Hair :)

  • The new decade of fans marvel at his hair and colors....... and joke about the guy making love to his guitar. The rest of us remember shows, or sorta remember shows and chuckle.

  • he's still playing with that same bassist isn't he? At least pre-Chickenfoot anyway.

  • @MapleLeafAce Stu Hamm..mostly yeah. But Stu kinda works with everyone. He did most or all the bass on Passion and Warfare (Vai) and I think on Flex-able too.

  • the guy saying it is a cover band needs to be publicly shot. and angus absolutly sucks compared to him. you have to be joking, those 2 are not even in the same ball park

  • the guy saying it is a cover band needs to be publicly shot.

  • stuuuuuuuuuu¡¡¡¡

  • This isn't Satriani - it's a covers band.

  • @saviouroftheuniverse You're kidding, right? Satriani on guitar, Stu Hamm on bass and Jonathan Mover on drums. Not a cover band.

  • @saviouroftheuniverse are you drunk?

  • hahahahaha.... his outfit really represents the eighties. :-D

  • I played this song for a guitar competition last year

and i went to semifinals :)

  • Yass i have the album that this was takin from! it was taken from disc 2 from the surfing album. Absolutely awsome and a definite guitar god.

  • wow he even gave eddie a run for his money back then but noy angus though or mr page

  • @donottawaguitar He didn't give Angus a run for his money? Are you clinically insane?

  • @donottawaguitar Wait a minute. I checked out your channel and you're a guitar player. You actually believe that Angus and Jimmy Page are better guitarists than Satch???? Unbelievable.

  • @jonesn4drums today i like awwa

  • @donottawaguitar Not sure what that means, dude.

  • @jonesn4drums check out awwa on the guitar

  • Now Jimy Hendrix must go suck !

  • WOW. He was more adventurous back in those days. In soloing AND wardrobe choices.

  • do anybody know whats the name is of the guitar Joe is playing in this video?

  • @acer993

Ibanez 540R BK HSH Radius.... Neck is off a roadstar Power with straight headstock and vintage profile... Its the real Blackdog...

  • このころの師匠は結構「顔」でも弾いてますね。

  • my god!.. freaking awesome!!!..

  • Stu Hamm makes every day "buy your bass player a beer" day.

  • Absolutely gorgeous...Satch+SRV (when he was at his best) would be pure sex on stage.

  • doceniam jego zaangazowanie ale on jest porostu kiepski

  • @elmokasino jestes jebanym debilem i jak masz pisac takie gowno to wypierdalaj na pudelka

  • The Bass man is stu hamm

  • i see london i see france i see...is that joes hair?

  • is that stewart on bass?

  • @anishraul yea, they are the best together.

  • this kind of reminds me of Edu Ardanuy's masterpiece Burning it. watch?v=My4BVF6_zVQ

    Specifically the whammy bar parts.

  • The Alien!!!!! :D

  • this is no joke dude.....some people can flat out play the guitar.

  • hmmm, never heard this song before...and i've listened to a good chunk of satriani.
