@trix2705. He feels more in control when he's operating the camera. Ever since The Abyss he's been doing that. The only prob is that he can't see the monitors and see the actual character performance. Not much for the DP to do when he's doing that when working the camera.
Did you notice the little spoiler at 5:03? "Can you imagine this cutting off Tsu'tey's queue?" There is a scene between Lyle Wainfleet and Tsu'tey that was cut from the original release. I'm pretty sure that the august 27 special edition will have this scene reinstated.
This is the kind of behind the scenes stuff that I really like, just lots of camcorder b-roll. It really shows all the little fine details that go into making an epic movie.
