  • She should have won for sure!

  • I love Melinda Doolittle, she's great.

  • AMAZING !!!!!!!!

  • so great

  • don't get me wrong, i love melinda and thought she should of win, but i think this would be better if she had used a west end accent, like what nancy would of in Oliver

Ashley russel's version on I'd Do Anything was just as good as melinda's

  • her album will coming out in JUNE.

    Can't wait to buy it!!

If everyone gonna buy her CD, please comment me back to support her! :)

  • The wait is driving me up the wall! I'll be showing my support by buying several. Gotta share her voice with others.

  • Melinda is one of the very best performers ever on American Idol. She's MUCH TOO TALENTED for the current crop of "singers" out there. I also liked Latoya London very much.

I am definitely buying Melinda's album when it comes out in June. Does anyone have any idea what's going to be on it?

  • Melinda said her debut album will have some soul, funk, and grit to it. One interview said "Aretha meets Aerosmith". I'm so excited for her album! She said end of summer 2008 and a holiday album before end of 2008. Yay, Melinda!

  • She was the voice I was waiting for to change the music industry. But she got robbed.

  • You're one artist I'd spend money on in a world of free music

  • Haha sooo true I agree :)

  • Yes, she was robbed! But it is our job now to make her the next Jennifer Hudson or Clay Aiken! You don't have to win to be successful. It is a great platform to get noticed!

  • just like thehbss, felt like listening to Melinda. Since she didn't win A.I., I doubt I'll watch it again. She should have won, she's just a brilliant singer!! plus she appeals to more age groups than Jordin and Blake (speaking as an "older" person). I can't wait to hear her do her thing in some jazz club someday. She's the best, plus I love her personality; she's keepin' it real.

  • Haven't done this for a while...!!

I'm spending a couple of hours on YouTube listening to Melinda's songs

  • kapan mau ke indonesia ???

  • Come to Ireland aswell

  • she is awesome, but is nothing unless u guys buy her album.

  • doolittle is a major talent--there's universal agreement on this--but this studio arrangement and music is insulting to both doolittle and her audience. she would be better presented a cappella. for shame. hang in there, melinda.

  • wonderful and enchanting, she´s fantastic.

  • Melinda is greaaaaaat!!!!

  • Melinda -- You are a great communicator. We already believe we know you. The great Nat King Cole would be proud of you. He too was warm, kind, humble, unassuming, and intelligent. He too connected with his fans. Millions around the world adored (and still do) his music and loved the man. Already, you have fans that adore your music, and love YOU.

  • Vive la difference. For example. Whitney, Celine, Gladys, Tina, Shirley, Mahalia, Joan ... Nat, Frank, Dean, Ray, Glen, Johnny, Andrea... are all differently blessed Singer-Entertainers. Melinda, American Idol has shown you too are a blessed Singer-Entertainer. One favour? Be like Nat... try different genre. For starters, I would like you to do a Country Collection sometime soon. Bon voyage.

  • Come visit UK soon Melinda...

  • (Part 5) Please note that the opinions I've mentioned are not the result of any fact-checking on my part. I will see what concrete facts I can find regarding the productions that have been released by American Idol. {I'm sorry everyone, I think I've posted these five parts backwards, so you'll have to read them from the backwards for them to make any sense!}

  • (Part 4) Having already proven their abilities, they should be given at least PARTIAL creative control. Melinda is not some newbie fumbling around! You can be sure that her opinions, based on years of performing, are at least AS important as those of any producer. Here's hoping that Melinda didn't sign over TOO much control-maybe we'll be lucky & it will end up only affecting the material actually performed on the show, rather than future projects.

  • (Part 3) This is standard practice in the music industry & generally affects new artists who are signing their first recording contract. The large majority of whom are also required to give up their creative control as part of the bargain. In the case of an unknown artist, this condition may actually be in the artist's favor. However, the American Idol contestants (& subsequent winners) are ALREADY household names & therefore "money makers" before their albums even hit the stores!

  • (Part 2) This being the case, they would also take the performance royalties earned from any records or videos made on behalf of the show. Just how MUCH creative control the producers of the show have on any albums subsequent to finals, is unknown to me. If we take this a logical step further, the contestants may very well have had to give up their (& all royalties earned) just to get ON the show in the first place!

  • Hi akc42! Of course, I can't be sure, but I can venture an educated guess. The company that owns American Idol probably produced (& therefore owns the rights to & most if not all of the profits) from these records & videos. If this is the case, you'd better believe that THEY are in control of the sum & substance of these videos & not Melinda! If I'm not mistaken, the contestants on AI are required to sign over all rights to the performances & videos created for the show.

  • Aasss long as ..hheee neeeeds mmeee... gosh i love the way melinda sings this song!!!! i hope she wins idol this season, she truly deserves it!!!

  • I am SO encouraged to hear that you all really KNOW what you're talking about! Every one of you criticizing the studio versions of Melinda Doolittle's work is really LISTENING! What bothers me the most, I think, is that they even had to stupidity to CHANGE her phrasing, timing & style. Don't they know the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? I applaud all of you.

  • Are you sure its tptb changing it and not melinda. I had an interview with Cat Deeley up here before it got took down which had Melinda talking about some performance where she missed all her notes (although she missed them in the right key). I was wondering if it was this song. The studio version sounds as though it was how it was written - but I think the difference in the live version is what (in the words of Simon) made a very boring song sensational

  • Unfortunately, this is becoming a recurring theme, with all the studio versions of Melinda's songs! EVERY single one of them is bland & without any real EMOTION whatsoever! They've even had the audacity to change her STYLE & PHRASING-& NOT for the better! Who ARE these producers robbing the MAGIC of her live performances out of EVERY single one of her songs?

  • I definitely sign onto the "Melinda is even greater live" camp. Which is a great thing - she genuinely loves to connect with her audience. Part of what makes her so dynamic a performer.

  • I have to say, I agree with the other comments, the live performance (with just the audio) is much better. There is just that bit of grit in her voice that makes you believe what she is singing. This is too syrupy

  • Exactly! You hit that nail right on the HEAD!

  • And as good as this is, I like the live version better too. Still awesome!

  • I kinda like the live version better; however, this is amazing!

  • I just posted the EXACT same sentiment. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind, you have a very good ear for music. (I'm a producer myself, & I know a little bit about music & the record industry.) I'd really like to know who is producing these terribly disappointing studio tracks & putting them on the market. What a disgrace to the best singer to come around in DECADES!

  • I really do not like this song. It was the kind of thing our parents used to thrust upon us, asserting "That's real music!" To quote Snoopy, "Beuurrrk!". But I just love this performance. It's a thoughtful portrayal of a tangible young woman's blind devotion, without all the lard and molasses of the original. A real singer's version.

  • another great one. thanx
