He DID play a gig in Perth, at Byte Me Festival in Dec 2007. He was amazing. The master of pop culture remix, live. He put the entire set on his website afterwards.
Thanks for uploading this. They will be touring with Gary Numan in May - which unfortunately I won't be attending. Bugger! I did see Gary Numan in 2009, though... so I guess that's something.
@Packager where are severed heads playing again? im sure that 7mths later ive missed it, but i was lead to believe by toms website that severed heads (ie. tom) was on permenant hiatus for some years now. i think he lectures in graphics in sydney.
@QRhuggies damn, he didnt play the perth gig. bizarre that he'd resurrect after long gaps for one show (or did he do all the east coast supports?)- lucky for you!
They were opening for Skinny Puppy on the 1986 Dig It / Bigot world tour, so there were a lot of Canadian dates (Skinny Puppy are from Canada). Severed Heads had just recently signed a distribution deal in Canada with Nettwerk Records, who were also Skinny Puppy's label, which is how I imagine the tour came about. I was actually at that concert in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It was the first concert that I ever paid money to see. I would have been 14 at the time.
I had this taped onto videotape back in 86 when it first aired and waa jumping for joy when I chanced upon this Rock Arena gig on here. I remember playing Severed Heads on the school radio station back in 81, and have always been a fan. Thanks.
Best group ever!!!! influenced my whole musical taste and these guys invented a lot of loops and tracks which inspired thousands of others. Fucking brilliant!
this show and this episode espescially was really influential on me, it's so good to find it all these years later and add it to my faves...this was really exciting to a girl growing up in Canberra with no access to this kind of music. And hey - it's Pete!! :)
Il love all music, rock, jazz, classical and electronica. I think this band is awesome, i thought Kraftwerk were brilliant these guys are truly special. Thanks for the upload and allowing me to tune into them.
Good find indeed! Always felt so bad for Tom getting his gear ripped off in Vancouver during this tour I believe it was? But such a stalwart for continuing on. :)
It was just one of those random things I think. This was the 1st time I ever saw the Severed Heads and it was the moment in my life that sparked my interest in computer graphics, video and multimedia.
I am now partners in a multimedia development business.
@celshader i must have been about 13 when i saw the same- this changed my life like no other record. i actually met and interviewed tom ellard for my first bit of musicjourno when i was about 23- he was most impressed with my knowledge of his band- i was just happy to be there. along with the de riguer 'dead eyes' this and 20 deadly diseases and especially hot with fleas and greater reward are gold. andrew penhallow (owner of volition-who i also interviewed) deserves an O.A.

@z1rakz1gal Yeah Severed Heads supported Gary Numan. Tom traded the “Severed Heads” name for a basket of chocolate after these gigs.

I remember seeing this when I was 11.
I don't know why I was watching Rock Arena way past my bed time but I was glad I did.
It was one of those flagpost moments in my life.

Did your folks know this or did you have to sneak out of bed ? I would have been eleven as well at the time.
