  • Ah, this is so familiar yet till this moment I never identified it with C.P.E. Bach... I think I'm in love...

  • C'est juste incroyablement magnifique ! Quel génie !

  • amazingg, this is so perfect!

  • What an incredible master piece! Someday, I'm goinf to learn the cello!! (also hear the harpsichord in the background....yaaaaaaaayyy!!)

  • OMG, This is classic music on steroid!

  • I love it! It makes me feel happy!

  • Dude this is just beautiful... If u could post a Download Link I´d be most grateful. There should be no copyright shit for something this universal.

  • To everyone looking for where to get this specific recording, I found it on Amazon. Search for "C. P. E. Bach: Symphonies & concerto pour violoncelle". It's track #9 on the first album that comes up (at least today). The track's title is "Concerto pour violoncelle, avec deux violons, alto et basse en La Majeur, Wq 172: III. Allegro Assai."

  • great piece !!

  • EPIC

  • My first exposure to CPE. I'm very impressed. Great piece of music. It's a little Mozart-ian. Yes, I know he came before Mozart. Thanks for sharing!

  • @sosome57 Mozart said of CPE Bach: "He is the father, we are the children". So the similarity isn't baseless.

  • @MRawn I believe in Bach (the father), Beethoven (the Son) and in the Holy Ghost (Brahms) of music :P

  • @lumeemi2001

It should have been "Brahms (Holy Ghost)". You sir are inconsistent.

  • where can i get sheet music for the cello part?

  • Amazing performance!! I have to know who these musicians are. Please email me at: vlcfred@aol.com I would love to know who did this recording. Thank you!! Alfred Gratta

  • Ah, the tuning is messing with me sooooo bad haha. I know it's tuned correctly at 430 but it's still driving my ears mad. lol

  • wow ...

  • I suggest everybody should begin their morning with this piece of music. It's just plain adrenaline injected straight into your heart and makes you happier...

    Even L.

  • @evenlevy1 I agree. It's like a sonic endorphin.

  • An eyes open fantasy.

  • This music is captivating. I listened to it first time a few minutes ago, There is more talent to Carl that one expected.

It has such poise and fascination of a fantasy world, something like voyaging into a new world with great spirits and hopes. A really hopeful song in short. Such zest, there is a lot of character to this piece.

Wonderful. The last 4:57 and the final 5:17 are incredible conclusions.

  • I don´t know the sex but this one piece are great in my body and heart.

  • Damn.

  • The same music exists in a version for keyboard and orchestra. I think is CPE Bach Wq23

  • It's used as the theme music for the TV program "Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal" in the Netherlands, a high-profile national spelling contest.

  • Jammer dat die uitvoering niet op YouTube te beluisteren is. Die is namelijk veel mooier. :P

  • @pacfrodo And I love it!!

  • @pacfrodo En België ! :)

  • Tatatitatatum, tatatatitatatatatum... This is magnificent... Bach, you were an excellent father!

  • What's this album called? Where can I get it?

  • Where can I find more versions of this? Thanks.

  • The song to which I listened last was Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. CPE and Floyd are like sex for the ears. Jeeze this is good.

  • I don´t know the sex but this one piece are great in my body and heart.

  • awesome piece !!! but is it the recording or are the strings out of tune ???

  • Classical Tuning

    A = 430 Hz

  • yea math?

  • @Evextonn

To expand upon HARMONICO101's thoughts, standard tuning by today's standards is A = 440 Hz, which is not exactly a half-step down (in comparison to baroque tuning). Half-step down by today's standards is Ab = 415.30

Baroque tuning as HARMONICO101 already stated, is A = 430 Hz. That is just how they tuned their instruments back then. I am unsure of the exact reason why. I will have to ask my teacher about it.

  • I'm in a better mood all of a sudden.

  • nicely put

  • What recording is this taken from? I'd like to have this piece on CD, but I don't much care for the surprise of getting "interpretation surprise."

  • Oh wow! I have this concerto on CD but love this version MUCH better. Has more zest and drive.

  • Harmonico, can you tell me what's the cd of this song too?? Thanks again :)

  • Wow normal i don't like this kind of music but this is great :D

  • Exciting for a cello concerto... :)

  • normally cello concertos are rather grim...true...look at Bach's Preludes..

  • i heard this on the radio just yesterday - it's a great piece!
