civvies never actually understand what soldiering is all about... the pain, the hardship and most of all the comradeship... there is something about the army that you have to experience it yourself. being in the army for 5-10 years and suddenly return to civvie streets you suddenly missed it all. and your best friends tended to be your squaddies... at least for me
When guys gather during bookout and talk nonstop about army stuff, I try my best to listen. But for girls, we seriously have no clue on the terms used and cannot visualize the experiences to carry on such conversations. So it's either guys slow down and explain stuff and jokes in detail, or girls can watch all these episodes to brush up their army vocab like me.

@moltenbullet I use to be a Platoon Sergeant and I seen this sort of stuff about my recruits worried about their GF. I told them, call her during your free time at the bunk and say how much she meant to u etc etc etc. But there are times my recruits gf dump them for another guy. I told them, forget about them. If they want a boyfriend just for the company and not for love and caring for another, Look for a better or stay single for the meantime and hope u find someone better.
Most of the time, the voices recorded are quite low, and hence the words are difficult to catch. It disrupts my enjoyment on watching the video since I have to concentrate on the words as well. Could subtitles be provided?
Reminds me of my BMT book out days. Hahaha though I did not have sushi, ohluak, or buffet coz I was maintaining a healthy diet to lose 1kg per week as I am in Mild-Obese BMT. How I wish I could just unwind time to bring me back to BMT, it was so fun. And you only see it after you ORD.

I will never laugh at any recruits when i see recruits. Because i have been down that road and now i live overseas. So its always tough. Especially i once helped to counsel one of my bunkmates cus his gf broke up with him during that time and he was quite depressed.
Have to admit that sometime girls do get bored listening to all the bmt stuffs from boyfriends, but for me i'm actually glad that my guy shared his bmt life with me, at least i knew how he was doing inside (although sometimes i have no idea what he was talking about). And he "taught" me all the songs they used to sing in tekong. ha!
And I can still remember I accompanied him all the way from west side of Singapore to Pasir Ris when he was booking in, for every single week thru out his bmt life!

Poor Douglas...his gf is totally not interested in his stories. It's best not to be attached during the two years, because that's the time when you can totally bond with your platoon mates, who will most likely become your buddies for life. Most of my platoon mates were single in the army, so we spent lots of time together on weekends. A typical bookout meant chionging to a buffet and whacking till restaurant close, then go home sleep, do laundry, chiong pub till 4am! Sunday sleep, book-in!

@moltenbullet I use to be a Platoon Sergeant and I seen this sort of stuff about my recruits worried about their GF. I told them, call her during your free time at the bunk and say how much she meant to u etc etc etc. But there are times my recruits gf dump them for another guy. I told them, forget about them. If they want a boyfriend just for the company and not for love and caring for another, Look for a better or stay single for the meantime and hope u find someone better.

Most of the time, the voices recorded are quite low, and hence the words are difficult to catch. It disrupts my enjoyment on watching the video since I have to concentrate on the words as well. Could subtitles be provided?

Reminds me of my BMT book out days. Hahaha though I did not have sushi, ohluak, or buffet coz I was maintaining a healthy diet to lose 1kg per week as I am in Mild-Obese BMT. How I wish I could just unwind time to bring me back to BMT, it was so fun. And you only see it after you ORD.

Short weekends??? Now you guys get to book out friday...in our time we booked out saturday afternoon and book in saturday evening. Booking out friday was considered a long weekend dudes...dun complain leh...

I will never laugh at any recruits when i see recruits. Because i have been down that road and now i live overseas. So its always tough. Especially i once helped to counsel one of my bunkmates cus his gf broke up with him during that time and he was quite depressed.

Have to admit that sometime girls do get bored listening to all the bmt stuffs from boyfriends, but for me i'm actually glad that my guy shared his bmt life with me, at least i knew how he was doing inside (although sometimes i have no idea what he was talking about). And he "taught" me all the songs they used to sing in tekong. ha!
And I can still remember I accompanied him all the way from west side of Singapore to Pasir Ris when he was booking in, for every single week thru out his bmt life!

Poor Douglas...his gf is totally not interested in his stories. It's best not to be attached during the two years, because that's the time when you can totally bond with your platoon mates, who will most likely become your buddies for life. Most of my platoon mates were single in the army, so we spent lots of time together on weekends. A typical bookout meant chionging to a buffet and whacking till restaurant close, then go home sleep, do laundry, chiong pub till 4am! Sunday sleep, book-in!
