  • @Redman8102 It has something to do with vacuum/pressure, you can do it easily with any container. Looks like this person used a round fish tank, all they had to do was hold it completely underwater with the open end facing down then carefully lift it so the lip of the open end remained an inch or two underwater. As long as that open end is underwater the container will remain full, just keep in mind the container will be heavy so it needs to be strong and well balanced.

  • I don't understand what you are using as the base

  • @lyndawms

two bricks that support the edge of the bowl just below water level, this is so that there is enough room for the fish to swim into.

  • what did you use for the base to support the sphere?

  • Where can I order one of these domes. I am like you wanting to do it myself. Thanks for the tip on glass though which is what I was going to use but not now.

  • @nanno28771 I got my acrylic sphere off of amazon for under $20 (just search for acrylic neckless sphere). I was able to make the whole thing for under $30. I brought some pvc and connected it with a joint connector to suck the air out of the sphere with my shop vac. I am using a regular open planter stand for the base.

  • @BlattFink How large were you able to find? I only so far have found 12 in ones. I was hoping to find 20 or 24 which I did find some on ebay and on the internet but all were $100 or more. Thanks so much for replying though I may just use the little 12 in which is better than nothing. :)

  • @nanno28771 I just have a 10' for now (I plan to get something bigger when I can). But they do get pretty pricey. I found mine on amazon from a place called 1000Bulbs. The acrylic spheres they sell are UV resistant so the sun won't turn it yellow. I saw a 16 inch for about $30 and a 14 inch for under $25.

  • look like happy fish :)

  • Very nice, but how do you keep the water in the bowl???

  • There ya go, very nice. Be careful with using glass. My first ones were relatively thick glass and a hail storm broke one. The other chipped at the bottom edge. I have them made out of high grade acrylic now.
