I am almost finished with this fantastic book and came to the part where Dr. Trout expresses his opinion concerning ear cropping, tail docking of dogs and declawing of cats and I want to send a big round of applause for that part in particular. Fantastic book for all who really LOVE their animals.
i'm lucky enough to have taken my finnegan to angell memorial, since we live close by. though, i haven't had the chance to meet with dr. trout, to tell him how much i enjoyed reading his book. angell is by far the best facility to take your four-legged child to...they really care about animals and understand them.
I just finished reading Dr. Trout's book. EXCELLENT read! Working for a Veterinarian myself, I have gained a new found respect for ALL they do behind the scenes. As a client from the outside looking in, there is so much we don't know or understand about the many facets and intricacies of the Veterinarian's role in the life of the pet AND the owner. Dr. Trout does a wonderful job of getting this message across and reveals the many other hats (other than Doctor) that they wear.
I heard your interview on NPR and look forward to reading your book. I wanted to send you a message of hope for your daughter with CF. My sister Paulette has CF. The Doctor told my mother (a widow at the time) that she should tell my 12 year old sister that she will die. My mother said, "Doctor, you are going to die, I am going to die, we are all going to die. I will not tell her she will die because right now she's too busy LIVING." Paulette is now 46 years old with two children of her own.
"Tell Me Where It Hurts" is a great book -- highly touching and intelligent. I'm enjoying it immensely.
