The biggest problem of this generation, is that people can get famous too easily, as you have accurately stated. People like Rebbeca Black or Justin Bieber are being main-streamed across the whole globe and yes; completely brain-wash all the teenagers. Most of the people do not think, or speak out for themselves because they are being dictated by the media, and they do not see that. It's great to see that there are normal people just like you left on this world, and hopefully even more.

We've been talking about this issue in my english class a lot because we have been reading a book called "Fahrenheit 451"by Ray Bradbury I think you might like it. it's all about how so many people are so pluged in to technology and don't even read any more and they are so focused on being likethe socioty wants you to be that the government finaly banned books completely and made firemen start burn any books they could find. So everyone basically can't learn, imagine, read, or even learn to read

I join YT in 2006, and believe it or not anime use to rule this site. It was the main reason i joined. I can remember watching sailor moon without having to try hard to find an episode, now its like 'watch everything as fast as you can before it gets deleted.' Sure there were blogs and music, but the anime community was...amazing. Now it's still good but not the way it use to be...

I never really payed attention to some of the youtube trends for the past few years because they were retarded and they get payed to do stupid shit like that. That inspires other people to make some dumbass stuff that people just eat up for some reason. I have never seen a rebecca black or justin bieber video. I watch videos that are interesting to me. For example, i look at your videos and other clips because i want to see what others thought about it.
You and everyone you referenced have a point that everyone should listen to. It's not just about youtube, either. Mediocrity in this world is one of the things that will kill us. @GunPowd3rGuru Thinking about others is not being arrogant. It is okay to be aware that something you put time and effort into affects people. "Sell out" does not apply to simply becoming partner. It is when one changes in order to get money in a way that compromises their own self. This does become grey area. Who can really say if someone changed because of money or because they simply progressed as a person? I believe Sawyer is speaking of those whom have lost their initial purpose.
My generation scares me. I try all the time to get my point of view across, but I'm always told I'm being too "judgmental" when saying why I don't like what kim kardashian. If you want my opinion, it's sad, but true what you're saying. The quality of Youtube videos used to be fresh and good to see. And there are still videos as such. But as you mentioned, the money took an incredible place in Youtube. Sometimes, perhaps even mostly, when you go on the site and see the most popular things are just dumb sh*t, it's very sad how low Youtube's getting....

Youtube is just another path to wealth and celebrity which most people don't fully succeed on. Just like sports. Some people play for money, some for fun. Ray William Johnson is a prime example. I don't watch his videos any more, and I unsubbed in January I think. He has also changed completely, which is sad, since he actually used to be funny and made videos just for fun. Now he tries to hard, particuarlly for the purpose of making money and completely sucks now. All of the old jokes he had? Replaced with views that he talks about on the viral videos. WTF.

Honestly the only think I noticed for Youtube is the production value shot up to basically TV level. Youtube is simply the easiest way to become famous now these days. Justin is a prime example of this. even though i doubt that kinda fame is gonna happen anytime soon. Look up Christina Grimmie. she did covers and now she is on tour with Selena Gomez.

The show on TV, the attitude of government officials towards the people, it all leads to the same conclusion: they are trying to close our eyes more than ever before. I can remember watching sailor moon without having to try hard to find an episode, now its like 'watch everything as fast as you can before it gets deleted.' Sure there were blogs and music, but the anime community was...amazing. Now it's still good but not the way it use to be...

You've touched on an interesting subject. I never really payed attention to some of the youtube trends for the past few years because they were retarded and they get payed to do stupid shit like that. I've never really been into the whole watching what's on the front page thing, and I learn about popular youtubers three years after the fact if at all. It is when one changes in order to get money in a way that compromises their own self. This does become grey area. Who can really say if someone changed because of money or because they simply progressed as a person? I believe Sawyer is speaking of those whom have lost their initial purpose.

Honestly the only think I noticed for Youtube is the production value shot up to basically TV level. Youtube is simply the easiest way to become famous now these days. Justin is a prime example of this. even though i doubt that kinda fame is gonna happen anytime soon. Look up Christina Grimmie. she did covers and now she is on tour with Selena Gomez.

I only make videos to support the things I like, upload a music video to a band, it's not a way to get viewers, it's a way to support that band and bring in new fans. I agree with a lot of what you said, kids these days.

The internet is being anally raped by advertisement and people trying to exploit the simple fact that a computer cannot seperate good content from bad content.
Shane is a money hungry motherfucker who has made so much fucking money off all of his "SOMETHING INTERESTING IN ALL CAPS TITLE BUT HAS NOTING TO DO WID VIDEO LOLZ" titled crappy fucking videos and I haven't found a single of his poor videos entertaining at all.

Youtube is a business, you can't change that. There is always gonna be crap on Youtube but at the same time there will always be youtubers who work hard to put out a quality product.
This whole discussion reminds me of a South Park episode called "Gnomes". I really suggest people watch that episode on South Park Studios, i think it has a good message about corporations and big businesses

It used to be a non commercial site ,where you could come in and watch music videos without having commercials like Hulu. I remember coming to Youtube and listen to music ,but now i still do but the commercials bother me. I mean whats next commercial during your dreams "this dream was brought to by Pepsi " or "this dream is brought to you by trojan condom". I still come to youtube because i still love listening to music and coming here every wednesday to watch your naruto reviews.
