  • Dont touch the blade like that!

  • @mcJakester109 Hurts less than you expect.

  • @greytale i wanna see people do a lightsaber dual on this that be reallly cool

  • @godofwar6511 If you mean a duel... well... we do these all the time! :) You can look up my "Balance of Power" performances/videos here on my channel, and also a more recent duel between myself and a member of the Golden Gate Knights, a group I co-founded in San Francisco... which is called "Nova v David" I think.

    Cheers!

    --Novastar

  • Dude can i buy this from you plzz >_<

  • whoa! he's good!

  • Duke Nukem with a chainsaw.

    We're fucked. XD

  • @SirusDiarota hahahhaha sooooo true!

I figured it was a good "homage" to mix a sort of "Doom" feel + "Duke". And hey, now with the new Duke game out... I'm looking fwd to trying it. Even though the reviews say it's bollocks--it looks great to ME. :) Nostalgia I guess.

  • he's choookkkkinndg meeeeekdmNJANK JLSDDHKL?Q:"Wjm bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbv

  • @susanmgf3 hahahahahha :) Sorry about that. I hate that whole "video projection choking" thing, lol... :P

  • Excellent imagination!

  • HAHA the chainsaw xD cool

  • what is your blade made of?

  • u r crazy xD and cool :D

  • Do you have a tutorial video on how to build these?

  • @iiiooo0 yes... did you search my videos to check for such things? :)

  • Can you make these?

  • @christianHeck Well, I ~did~ make these... but I'm afraid I don't have the capacity or time to make sabers for sale as a business... :( ... sorry.

  • ur sooo cool! :D

    i want one too.

  • Hahah your a kool guy, damn i need me some of these sounds and board :)!!! the kung fu one was amazing lol

  • Hey Novastar, what version of CF is this?

  • @gchu149 I posted this video in late 2007... and... if you read the comments section... :)

  • Ok seriously man, That is one of the sickest saber I have ever seen!

Any tips on snagging a Crystal Focus?

  • @Lifehost A new batch of CF should be comin' up soon... July is the target release... :)

  • I whant the fx of the asient saber :)

  • where can I get one?

  • @ironedge... this saber is not for sale, and it's really a "one of a kind" custom saber, built by myself. Although it's not really *super* complicated to build it the way I did.

As to the "Crystal Focus" driver board that makes everything go bang zoom... they are hand-soldered, specially made boards.

Although a new batch of them (from Plecterlabs) should be coming soon enough... :)

  • STEEL SWORD classic

  • very amazing !!! but where can i get a saber like this, with all this sounds, bright light and very sensitive.

  • I'm lovin the Morrowind song in iSaber mode lol

  • Hell yeah! The Morrowind is one of my favorites!

  • What kind of board are you using?

  • The sounds are amazing! Where might I be able to find this sound board. I am putting together a saber using MHS parts and would like to throw this sound unit in. I would imagine it is rather expensive as well.

    Thanks for the demo!

  • Please:

    * Read the "more info" section on this video...

    * Watch and click through the annotations...

    * Watch my Crystal Focus wiring guide video...

...that will give you an idea of what CF is all about.

    --Nova

  • your to good at swing that thing its a little scary lol

  • thats so awsome!!!!!

  • Egomania. lol

  • Really? Hmm... you might want to look at my videos a bit more--you'd understand that in the DIY LED saber community... there is just as much giving as there is taking.

I have contributed a lot, and do my best to share and grow the technology with LED sabers... what about you? :)

  • awesome moves man^^

  • I don't know about my "moves"... I was just inside my apartment demonstrating the capabilities of the Crystal Focus sound & light board!

But thanks, hope you liked the innovation of Erv Plecter's awesome electronics + the sound profiles.

  • Hahaha, I so want that now!

  • The music and extra sound effects are a little ridiculous... It'd be great for kids, though.

  • Hmm... minus the "chainsaw" font for the kids, hahahah

  • A Duke Nukem Lightsaber lol wicked >:D.

  • how much for this??ill buy it.

  • Just when I thought I had got all the sabre related merchandise I wanted I went and saw your vids....you swine! Now i'll have to start all over :P

I didnt even know people could build from scratch and may I say what an amazing job you have done. I love the different sound effects. Steel sword and kung fu settings tickle me in particular. I just wish my electrical skills were much better so I could make my own. *gloom*

  • I understand--all too well. :) For some perspective, back in 2005/2006... I had no idea how to wire up anything, nor solder, nor how LEDs worked, etc. Nothing. I had to learn it all as well... it just takes time, dedication, practice, patience, and the will or need to learn those skills.

  • Thanks for your positive response......maybe there is hope for even a sabre noob like me yet :D One final question are you aware of any "idiots" video guides that are available that cover from start to finish step by step sabre construction. There are some great picture guides online but there is no substitute for watching someone do it first hand and live. I just have soo many questions :P Many thanks, May the force be with you!

  • If you watch several of my videos (including my "Q&A" video)... those might help.

There is an extensive Crystal Focus Wiring Guide too...

  • that is a cool saber how much u want for it?

  • Please see my "Q&A" video...

  • ur blade u used for BOP II what was the length? aand how did u get the end of the blade rounded?

  • I don't remember the exact length but something around 32"?? BOP I & II used thick-walled tubes, btw.

The ends are machined tips made of polycarbonate or acrylic in some cases. These are also made by folks at the links I detail in most of my vids--thecustomsabershop.

  • ok i bought the forty in. peice from TCCS and the tip. i still couldnt find the wiring guide for the store bought system so if there's a way u could give me that, that would be great. thanx

  • Yup, I can do that with an MR as well, hehehh. It's just the torque and speed in most cases... and sometimes the hands switching positions or if I pass from one hand to another... or toss & catch.

However, the sensitivity settings can be adjusted on CF... whereas on MR boards--they cannot.

  • Can you Fuse Colors By Any Chance?

if you Could,I'm Pretty Sure It Would Look Cool With Green And Purple!

  • "Fuse" colors?! Ya lost me.

Well... what I can say is... yes, you can use a high-current RGB LED, in which you can get a range of colors.

I have a video on here somewhere that demos the RGB kind of setup.

  • I Swear On This:

you Are The Coolest Person In The Whole Freakin World!!!

    Your Lightsabers Are Freakin Amazing!!!

Your Lightsaber Skills Are Amazing Too!!!

  • agreed

  • I saw a cat walk by... Have you ever accidently hit your cat while spinning your lightsaber?

  • jus noticed you had the theme from Morrowind on there :D great choice

  • out of all of your videos this one is the BEST!!! you make the coolest sabers and you have an excellent sense of humor

  • where did u buy that

  • I created it myself, although I did indeed need to purchase the electronics board and all the individual components.

  • Lmao love the morrowind tune

  • you have offended my family and you have offended the shaolin temple LOL great saber Dude

  • Bruce Lee = the father of bringing all MA together...

    R.I.P.

It was my tiny little way to show tribute and homage to da man himself.

  • awsome sounds dude

  • wow.

    that is one fancy saber

holy crap - you're the saber master!!

    damn.

how much to build that one?

not for me of course, just general curiosity.

  • Oh, I laughed so much during the kung fu version !

For me Lightsabers should have lightsaber sounds, but this is still quite fun to see all the possibilities offerd by the CF (and your sound founts)

    Good work !

  • why does it make hitting noises when you swing it around?

  • Ah, that's a good question, glad you asked that one. Well, the driver board contains a device that measures motion. Certain motions constitute swings, while others--clashes.

If I swing the saber VERY quickly, and/or "violently" stop the saber (without hitting anything), that motion can be detected as a clash.

However, these settings can be adjusted and fine-tuned... just as easily as the sounds can be changed. :)

    Excellent question.

  • thanks but what if i order 1 now will i get 1 when their available?

  • 10 minutes? Really? And you edited this down? To 10 minutes?!? Seriously?

  • Wow man, that lightsabe ris awsome!!!

  • i just got a standard mr converted to a luxeon 3 but that beast you got ther kicks it in to orbit.

    i want those sounds!!!

    BUT

    HOW HOW HOW HOW

  • How much you want for that?

  • huh i wonder if u and Erv never invented the CF then everybody would have stupid MR board in there hilt...

  • Erv was the one who built CF! As to myself--I just helped guide a few of the software moves behind the scenes... and started off making a handful of sound fonts.

Now... yeah, it's turned into a monster, huh? :)

  • very impressive. also, ur a funny guy u kno dat lol

  • I have my moments. Unfortunately, they've all past...

  • hello if yo seel thos esabers you would make millins man..at leats from me lol i will buy one...if only lol

  • yeah i figured thats why, thats just my artists eye pointing that out.

  • 5:30 looks like a skull on saber tip!

  • Well, there's no skull there, but... the tip was probably pretty munched up from all the staged combat. 4000 hits a month will do that... :)

  • would it be possible to use the sounds from the sword in halo 2?

I think you would need to get the WAV files from the windows vista version though.

  • It is possible to utilize ANY kind of sound you can dream up, find, create, or otherwise convert into the proper format.

To work with sound--you do not necessarily need sounds in .wav format. It depends on a great many things. But ultimately, Erv's setup uses the .raw format (no header, unsigned) for sounds.

  • Cool! You have the the Chrono Trigger theme on there. I totally forgot that that song was awesome!

  • Whoa... someone ELSE to notice the ChronoT theme? Very cool. Great game of its time.

I wasn't able to fit the themes/music from Deus Ex on there... the FIRST one. Another game that was waaaay beyond its time... and absolutely an A+ in every way... :)

  • Oh HELLL YEAH! I want those in my saber! :o

  • I am utterly stunned!! That thing is off the freaking chain!!! How much does that cost... must be friggin priceless! WOW 5/5

  • the Elder scorlls music sweet

  • That is freaking AWESOME! I am a saber fan myself. I'm just getting started on building one myself. But serioulsy, great job man!

  • Whoa it's got Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon sound s in it too

  • I think I added some from Benny the Jet too... :)

I thought a Bruce Lee font would be fitting, seeing as he had so much influence on martial arts becoming popular in the U.S. during the 70's.

R.I.P. -- you da man, Bruce.

  • thats amazing thats sooooo cool top marks

  • hmmm r u making those sounds or does that come wit the saber and pretty kool vid

  • Well, the sound fonts are indeed arranged and mixed by myself. Some contain solely Ben Burtt's sounds created for the SW movies, while others are a mixture, and others still are totally my original work.

The sound fonts can be changed at will. v2.6 and forward can hold up to 6 sound fonts or "personalities" if you will.

  • oh k.

  • WOW your sabers are fantastic. You've got some cool moves too.

Do you sell the sabers, I would love to buy one from you.

    Please let me know.

  • I have to say youve built some of the best lightsabers ive ever seen especially the one with the leds shown throught the hilt

  • excellent lol, the kung fu was really funny. Id love to get my hands on one of these sabers

  • excellent saber man, but i am stupid when it comes to electronics was the setup difficult to assemble? ps nice saber skillz bro!

  • Glad you liked... well, in terms of wiring difficulty--no... not hard at all.

In terms of STUFFING all of that junk into thin inner diameters and about 8" of working room... pretty tough! :)

  • Excellent stuff! This makes my torch/broomstick saber look like a popsicle!! Very nice indeed!! Dan =:D

  • Oh yes, your Cat paying no attention to you what soever was hilarious... Cat could care less about what the silly human is doing..

  • Excellent demonstration! Glad I have my Crystal Focus v3.0 on order. I can't wait to upgrade my Vader ESB and create my own sound fonts..

  • did you build that?

  • Did you read the comments?

  • Thank you for the comic relief and great saber technique's . The sounds are fantastic pyre/isaber ... Very entertaining !!!

  • You're welcome, Jetrado!

  • LOL...the chain saw was funny...but i really like your moves...and by far...this is the best saber spins...did you modify or built the saber all by yourself...I wish i knew...how to built one...you know any tutorials...?

  • Jesus Novastar thats some awsome stuff!! i cant wait until i make my first sabers!! Your sound fonts for CF are amazing!!

  • Thanks obscured... I naturally have to say--wouldn't be possible without Erv's CF design. But yes, I did work pretty hard to make the sound fonts unique, interesting, and somewhat "seamless". I still want to make some better sounds for Steel Sword--for the "blaster" and "force" actions... not sure what yet!

  • Whoa. Very very impressive.

  • Exceptionnel ! This is more than giving an idea of what can be done with crystal focus. I LOVE the way you tuned the configuration parameters, especially for the flickering and instant on/off parameters for each font. So Great ! Bravo !

And thanks for all the time you've spent for composing those sound fonts : the users love them !

    Erv'

  • Ah, merci, et pas de probleme... encore--cette configurations n'etre pas possible... without Crystal Focus! So obviously it is a team effort for things to get done in the saber world. We have countless people to thank to allow LED props to get so far, including Ultra, Corbin, Strydur, Gelukhan, toi, etc. etc. :)

  • Very nice. I caught the Morrowind music in there. lol I really need to get some better sound software and do my own font. I can't get either goldwave or sound forge to download now for some reason. Anyway, keep up the good work. You're a great asset to the saber community and I "shall be watching your career with great interest". :-)

  • Thanks for the help--after all, I learned quite a bit from you back in the BOP I days... so... none would be possible sans your help.

Anyhow, I can help you with the Goldwave thing... I'll e-mail.

  • Simply amazing!!!!! You can totally kick Bruce Lee's ass with those major ownage kung fu skills lol. Nice work!

  • Wow and WOW! The first wow is of course for your killer lightsaber, aut the second WOW is for those moves you are blowing off! Holy Jeez man, I haven't seen anybody spin a saber like that yet!

Great job on all those sound fonts. I'm REALLY fond of the Novastar, Blackstar, and Ancient Saber fonts. They are my favorites.

  • Wow....THAT WAS GREAT! I Cant Belive That Theres A Force Grip Effect Now I Just Sent Erv A Message About That About 2 Weeks Ago.Well Great Work Greytale.

  • I love how one of my cats (Clint) sauntered on by during the "Chainsaw" mode, heheheh... he's lucky he wasn't accidentally thwacked by polycarbonate!! :)
