GUYS with a thought.. coudnt you build ontop of the inter halways making a square pyramid like structure, ending in a large room on top housing the head of the household and his accomidiations?
japanese rarely build tall building traditionally due to earthquake and typhoon. They choose to build with lighter material that survive better, exception are fort and civil building that needed more room. they also tend to adopt a more open concept with rooms links along walkway intersection. and of course an annex TEA ROOM! if they can afford it. =)
courtyard houses are more distinct to chinese, to address living in dense population center and the need of privacy and security.
the "walkway" in the center garden should be bigger and then the doors to the room should be placed towards the center of the building. so all doors leads outside.
@TurbonizeR its far from traditional japanese houses. It has seperate bedrooms for a start then there is the fact thtthe bathrooms are at the same level as the rest of the bhouse. There should be a small entrance way with cooking facilitys and the bathroom and houe coming off it. there should be steps down from the houe to this area. There are no screens or a covered porch for the screens to open onto.
you should put this up for download on the sims 3 website i would download it

Keep in mind that Japanese have their tiny compact lunchbox complex- with everything from lunchboxes themselves to houses to girls DX

doesnt japanese architecture prefer long hallways and rooms that intersect with loads of hallways?
