The grey morality of the evil ending comes from the fact that until you read or go through with the good karma ending, you don't know for sure the RFI will cure the plague. The plague will kill everyone infected with it, but conduits are cured of the plague if activated. Those millions of people were going to die anyway in the "evil" ending because of the plague, but they died and activated conduits, curing them.

If you think about it, Cole wasn't so much as "evil" in inFAMOUS 2 so to speak. All his "evil" decisions only resulted in less control and extra chaos. The only time they killed people was in the beginning when you blow up the gas tank, and when you run into the Mansion with

Nix (this doesn't include mini-missions involving detonating bombs, beating citizens for blast shards, or Ionic Drain). But really, Cole is more of a rebel than a tyrant.

The first 14 seconds makes me feel like I'm rushing to something life threatening, something enormous and powerful that no one else can defeat, but that I'm ready to take it on.
