Unlike Mexico the US are diverse with sports and we do have the best sport teams in the world... other then soccer. Mexicans respected the US when they sucked and now since we are becoming competitive at Mexico's one and only sport they become hostile with the US fans. I think the main problem in the development in american soccer internationally and club wise is that the CONCACAF region is weak. The only team that is somewhat a threat is Mexico. We have no one to challenge us outside of international friendlies and the world cup. Although, I am of Ghanaian descent so I root for Ghana.

Football (soccer) is a sport that is based far more on technique than athleticism. American Football is more like rugby and Football is more like Basketball, which is why basketball is catching on in Europe. Americans appreciate speed and power whereas Europeans appreciate technique. They get unfairly compared because of the name issue.
@RedDevilFan10 Believe it or not, there is actually skill and technique involved in playing american football though. offensive and defensive linemen need to learn how to use leverage, their hands and feet to beat their opponent. CB's need to learn how to flip their hips, backpeddle for smooth transition, and use their hands to redirect their opponents. QB's need to perfect there footwork to avoid defenders, and make accurate throws. There are a lot of mechanics for all players to learn.

I've seen several players in football who have elite speed and strength and can simply use their god given talent to blow by defenders who are using perfect technique. I think the main problem in the development in american soccer internationally and club wise is that the CONCACAF region is weak. The only team that is somewhat a threat is Mexico. We have no one to challenge us outside of international friendlies and the world cup. Although, I am of Ghanaian descent so I root for Ghana.

It's because its a lot harder than it looks. you have to have the speed of sprinter, strength of a weightlifter, and body control and athleticism of a gymnast to play in this sport

Football (soccer) is a sport that is based far more on technique than athleticism. American Football is more like rugby and Football is more like Basketball, which is why basketball is catching on in Europe. Americans appreciate speed and power whereas Europeans appreciate technique. They get unfairly compared because of the name issue.

@RedDevilFan10 Believe it or not, there is actually skill and technique involved in playing american football though. offensive and defensive linemen need to learn how to use leverage, their hands and feet to beat their opponent. CB's need to learn how to flip their hips, backpeddle for smooth transition, and use their hands to redirect their opponents. QB's need to perfect there footwork to avoid defenders, and make accurate throws. There are a lot of mechanics for all players to learn.

I've seen several players in football who have elite speed and strength and can simply use their god given talent to blow by defenders who are using perfect technique. Glad you can see that American Football isn't an easy sport and are not trashing it like the other guy is. I'm just a lover of all sports (well except maybe baseball).

Rugby players don't try to tackle someone to stop them for yardage, therefore the hits have far less impact and are less jarring. In Rugby, you have to wrap up the ball carrier. You can't spear him, you can't tackle him if he's in the air, you can't shoulder-charge, you can't tackle above the shoulders or below the knees, and you can't trip. Also, NFL players on average outweigh rugby players by 50 pounds (of muscle), any expert will tell you that a rugby player would be crushed.
