If you can, I would recommend getting Call of Pripyat. Not very good in the graphics department compared to the other two games, but remarkable stability and awesome gameplay easily make it the best of the three.
alot of people like the first one better, but i like them both. this one is actually the prequel to the first one, but i think beating the first one, then doing this one makes the story better. so i'd say go for the first one. have fun bro!

when I first got this game, I thought it was broken, because the textures were dragged across the screen, like when you look into the "void" past the map in HL2 games, only worse. then, after several hours of disappointment, doing everything I could to try and fix it, I took the disc out, wiped the bottom of the disc with a rag, and what do you know? it worked.

when i wrote my first comment here i didn't even start the game.Now i finished it... i was a little bit disappointed. It was way too easy (even for a noob like me), too short and it raised a lot of questions...and for the bugs...yea i found some of them. One of the monolyth guys were walking in the air at the construction site in nimansk, i had some wrong weight displaying problems...and the caracter's texture was vibrating...in inivisible..

well, anomalies and mutants are much rarer in clear sky. But anomalies are also more powerful and dangerous. There is one in a forest that if you go into it you can never return unless someone from the outside helps you. It's kinda like an endless corridor
i hope that in clear sky is more mutants. example i faced controller only twice and those rat mutants i didnt see anywhere in shadow of chernobyl. and they should make anomalies lots of deadlier becouse you lose about 1 of 6 life if you walk on anomalies.but i think cs is going to be good
he reckons vehicles are gonna retroduced, and that you can move the back to your main faction base and pimp it up with armour and stuff to make a mini-tank
The AI is supposed to be much brighter before it's released. It's been reported that they work so well in teams, Noone Not even the developers could kill more then 2 to 4 bandits armed with AK-74U's without dying.
There is something that was done a bit wrong in both Stalker games... The M4-type rifle, is supposed to be aimed through the REAR PEEPHOLE, not above it as in the game...
the only problem i have with this game is the amount of shots it sometimes seems to take to kill someone but other that that this is one of my favorite games

no it doesn't... but I'm not fussed... I have an 8800 GTX. and it doesn't matter if you run a game on high, as long as it's playable, even on low... it can be good. I had to play FEAR on a 5200 for 8 months... and I loved it.

the most godawful thing about the first stalker was all the damned bugs, ie: missions being borked so easily. i made it to yantar the first try, but the scientist had died. ok i do a few missions for the professor and get the improved suit. then i get some rad walking out of yantar, GUESS WHAT after that i was PERMANENTLY irradiated. gotta love buggy games. moving through levels does NOT wear off effects, it permanents them
I never had many bugs, I think it differs from computers, the engine was a bit clunky, its well worth playing though, I cant sit around a campfire without thinking to myself "This is a stalker moment".
to this one user, i quit. it's too fricking stupidly bugged. i just recently got stuck in an elevator shaft exploring in pripyat.
there is a hole, that is too small for you to fit through, and no ladders, no way to climb out. you are permanently stuck. this games bugs just make it ridiculous, the ONLY fun way to play it is to stick to someones walk through. which i cannot do because thats boring as nuts. i hsure as hell hope they clear up clear sky
If you're willing to work around the bugs, and save enought to be able to backtrack past the irreconcilable ones, it's a very, very rewarding game. I personally had similar problems, I nearly gave up in X18, but I just backtracked and kept on trucking. You should, too
you know why spadesghost? because mr.suit at the publishers demaded it be out on time, regardless of bugs etc. dont even think about blaming the developers about this, its all the publishers fault.
i don't believe i ever once mentioned developers. I also didn't say the game didn't have its moments, however as per being rushed, thats absolute nonsense, the game was actually released LATE by at least a year, and it does shine for being behind the times engine wise, yet still highly enjoyable.

Stalker was a brilliant game. Whoever was hoping for Serious Sam in Chernobyl got a nasty surprise - people who never held a firearm in their hands shouted in frustration as in stalker , they claim, guns behave like crazy, with realistic accuracy, bullet drop, jams - and iron sights? It takes up too much of the view.
But for those who value realism and can appreciate the incredibly heavy, nostalgic, atmospheric and yet beautiful in it's decay world, found themselves in promised land.
Wow I must have this game. STALKER SoC was the first which scared the sh*t out of me. Hope they will make a new reload system for the weapons cuz it's annoying that the player always pulls the cock (of the gun XD)
I really enjoyed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but, I don't know why people say it's "Scary". I guess it's just that I didn't have dynamic lighting on. Didn't get the whole atmosphere.
You can' say you didn't shit yourself when objects started flying at you in the darkness of X18. Or when you heard the footsteps and crashes in the areas that you'd already cleaned out.
I'm thinking that people are confusing Ukraine with Russia because they were both part of the Soviet Union (USSR), which doesn't exist anymore. So, yea, it's easy to get a little confused.

Man, I love SoC and can't wait for Clear Sky, but if you want a game with many monsters and stuff like that go play something else because you got many games to chose from; This game it's for guys like me who wants more realistic games with monsters in a quantity just to give it the salt it needs to be great. Like in Oblivion? The Real Life stuff for NPC's (That has been in Gothic series for ages) that never was seen in the Oblivion because "It took too much processor power"? Or open towns because those were "Too hard to create with complicated game like Oblivion". Not to speak of giving the NPC's a personality that never happened "Because it would have taken too much time".
All those things have been done before. Sure S.T.A.L.K.E.R. didn't do everything "Oblivion Lost" promised to do, but hey, we are talking about Shadow of Chernobyl here. So how about you give them a break if you can't do a better game.
What I like most with StalkerSoC is the variasion of the game. First u`r shooting mutants in the underground, then u shoot some bad guys on the surface. Then some hunting, then u shop and so on. Hope the CS wikll have the same abillity ( but I doubt they don`t)
Good thing you won't be able to do that like in Gears of War. That game seriously sucked. It is just mindless killing and killing. And if it called blind shooting how come you can see what is happening. Another reason GOW sucks.
Well you couldn't predict where your shots would exactly land when you're blind firing. I was just hoping for a possible cover system. Its not necessary, but it would be a nice feature.
God, the NPC animations look so fluid, and the way that they take cover...
Wow, this is going to be so much better than SoC, way more realistic. (yeah, SoC was realistic-ish, but it was essentially one man killing a thousand others. This way you have a group with which you fight, so it's going to be less of the whole 'get to cover, wait for them to expose themselves, headshot, repeat')
I think this is the Aftermath of the first one where you're going to be able to help and JOIN! Some of the game factions(Duty/Freedom/Other Stalkers)(?)Not sure but I think the military is still trying to hunt Strelok down... Semi-Realistic Fps combat and improved AI(They now throw grenades at you!) Some animals ambush you!
eg: A bloodsucker that runs away from you into a building will have 4 more bloodsuckers inside waiting for you!
It is so sweet to figure out what happened before. P.S. on the STALKER game interview the game producers said that we will be able to meet Strelok when he got to Monolith for the second time. IT is so cool. Best game ever!

I found the 1st underground level scary having the volume turned up high an dhearing the roar was enough to make me turn it down again :P
Also Lab - 18 outside was quite scary as well but the flashlight and a shotgun and problem solved ;)

can anyone tell me whats the best replacement for a ATI Xpress 1100 graphics card (125 mb i think) for a laptop?? cuz it can run the first one but the graphics this thing make are horrible

laptops aren't built for gaming... get a desktop with an 8800gt, it'll play almost every game out now on at least high (including crysis).

no it doesn't... but I'm not fussed... I have an 8800 GTX. and it doesn't matter if you run a game on high, as long as it's playable, even on low... it can be good. I had to play FEAR on a 5200 for 8 months... and I loved it.

... im still waiting for the anti bloodsucker deluxe AKA Minigun :) oblivion lost had one why cant clear sky or even shadow of chernobyl, and dont say it will break your arms from recoil (many said that but a lot of people can hold a minigun) and definitly dont mention the ammo hog fact, just let it use any ammo you throw in it AND OF COURSE my personal favorate Depleted Uranium Rounds (Rad Damage on hit), This is gunna be kick ass gotta plan my life until it comes out

the most godawful thing about the first stalker was all the damned bugs, ie: missions being borked so easily. i made it to yantar the first try, but the scientist had died. ok i do a few missions for the professor and get the improved suit. then i get some rad walking out of yantar, GUESS WHAT after that i was PERMANENTLY irradiated. gotta love buggy games. moving through levels does NOT wear off effects, it permanents them

I never had many bugs, I think it differs from computers, the engine was a bit clunky, its well worth playing though, I cant sit around a campfire without thinking to myself "This is a stalker moment".

this game has many, MANY irreconcilable bugs.
to this one user, i quit. it's too fricking stupidly bugged. i just recently got stuck in an elevator shaft exploring in pripyat.
there is a hole, that is too small for you to fit through, and no ladders, no way to climb out. you are permanently stuck. this games bugs just make it ridiculous, the ONLY fun way to play it is to stick to someones walk through. which i cannot do because thats boring as nuts. i hsure as hell hope they clear up clear sky

thats what patches are for.
If you're willing to work around the bugs, and save enought to be able to backtrack past the irreconcilable ones, it's a very, very rewarding game. I personally had similar problems, I nearly gave up in X18, but I just backtracked and kept on trucking. You should, too

i don't believe i ever once mentioned developers. I also didn't say the game didn't have its moments, however as per being rushed, thats absolute nonsense, the game was actually released LATE by at least a year, and it does shine for being behind the times engine wise, yet still highly enjoyable.
When you hear someone criticise, if you're going to have issues with them, thats fine, just be accurate

Stalker was a brilliant game. Whoever was hoping for Serious Sam in Chernobyl got a nasty surprise - people who never held a firearm in their hands shouted in frustration as in stalker , they claim, guns behave like crazy, with realistic accuracy, bullet drop, jams - and iron sights? It takes up too much of the view.
But for those who value realism and can appreciate the incredibly heavy, nostalgic, atmospheric and yet beautiful in it's decay world, found themselves in promised land.

Wow I must have this game. STALKER SoC was the first which scared the sh*t out of me. Hope they will make a new reload system for the weapons cuz it's annoying that the player always pulls the cock (of the gun XD)

I really enjoyed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but, I don't know why people say it's "Scary". I guess it's just that I didn't have dynamic lighting on. Didn't get the whole atmosphere.

Man, I love SoC and can't wait for Clear Sky, but if you want a game with many monsters and stuff like that go play something else because you got many games to chose from; This game it's for guys like me who wants more realistic games with monsters in a quantity just to give it the salt it needs to be great. I just hope I won't more monsters than in SoC!!!

Like in Oblivion? The Real Life stuff for NPC's (That has been in Gothic series for ages) that never was seen in the Oblivion because "It took too much processor power"? Or open towns because those were "Too hard to create with complicated game like Oblivion". What I like most with StalkerSoC is the variasion of the game. First u`r shooting mutants in the underground, then u shoot some bad guys on the surface. Then some hunting, then u shop and so on. Hope the CS wikll have the same abillity ( but I doubt they don`t)

Good thing you won't be able to do that like in Gears of War. That game seriously sucked. It is just mindless killing and killing. And if it called blind shooting how come you can see what is happening. Another reason GOW sucks.

Well you couldn't predict where your shots would exactly land when you're blind firing. I was just hoping for a possible cover system. Its not necessary, but it would be a nice feature.

God, the NPC animations look so fluid, and the way that they take cover...
Wow, this is going to be so much better than SoC, way more realistic. (yeah, SoC was realistic-ish, but it was essentially one man killing a thousand others. This way you have a group with which you fight, so it's going to be less of the whole 'get to cover, wait for them to expose themselves, headshot, repeat')

I think this is the Aftermath of the first one where you're going to be able to help and JOIN! Some of the game factions(Duty/Freedom/Other Stalkers)(?)Not sure but I think the military is still trying to hunt Strelok down... Semi-Realistic Fps combat and improved AI(They now throw grenades at you!) Some animals ambush you!
eg: A bloodsucker that runs away from you into a building will have 4 more bloodsuckers inside waiting for you!
