  • elzhi does not sound like nas..thats all

  • ...got a voice like nas/whiz/j.cole. strange haha

  • this song is a masterpiece

  • Comment removed

  • It seems like Elmatic succes is a blessing but also a curse. He is way too many times compared with Nas by people who claims to know him before elmatic.

  • sounds like Nas

  • This reminds me of young LL my rhyme ain't done... Sorta that Alice in wonderland fantasy dream rap

  • Elzhi is in my Top 5. Thumbs up if he's in yours.

  • This is way elzhi is too dope for mainstream

  • can someone tell me what album this is on? this shit is fire!

  • @likewhaa22 The Preface

  • Just got exposed to black milk after listening on pandora with DJ Premier as the artists select.. Black Milk is FIRE! much better then anything else new.. dope old school feeling...

  • @oConcepTz "hip-hop elitism"? lol c'mon dude. i dont remember what the guy said but damn you took my comment the wrong way. i say you go back and look for that comment i was talking about and see why I said that. there has to be a reason why i was acting like that.

  • Super underrated album, up there with Below the Heavens as best solo debut album of the 00's

  • Sick combo man

  • elzhi is dope, clearly extremely inspired by nas. sometimes its irritating how much he sounds like nas. cadence, lyricism, voice, projection, mic presence, beat choice it's all like 90's NaS. it's weird though because i heard some songs where he doesnt sound like nas...

  • @thejarg0n probably the songs from his younger days before his voice cracked back in his teen days

  • black milk got always dope beats man i guess black milk got it from the alchemist :D

  • Go watch (Dz mac hustlers way) video shot in detroit michigan... peace one love to Elzhi....

  • This is deeper than "Inception".

  • Hip Hop still alive

  • I demand a video to this song

  • @SwAgGaRyT don't ever compare elzhi to j. cole. gtfo out of here with that shit

Elzhi slaps anybody out right now. underground or mainstream. he is the best rapper atm easily. I know your comment is 9 months old but damn that shit shouldn't ever be mentioned.

  • @Bersto36 real talk

  • @Bersto36 is he gonna drop a new solo album this year?

  • @spcw4 he's already workin' on it.

  • @rmsg120nsb true do you have any details? possible producers or anything like that

  • @spcw4 i don't remember it quite well, but i think madlib, 9th wonder, alchemist and black milk will be on the album

  • @spcw4 Pete Rock is gonna be on the new album as well...

  • @Bersto36 No, you gtfo of here with your hip-hop elitism. Your opinion isn't fact; stop pushing it off like one. I love Elzhi just as much as the next person, and agree that he's better than J Cole, but the way you worded that comment just makes you look like a douchebag who thinks his musical opinion should be regarded by everyone as fact.

  • @Bersto36 lol what the fuck was that goofy thinkin'

  • @Bersto36 lol dawg i take that comment back, you right. swaggaryt is my other account btw

  • Don't report this, im not trying to annoy people I just want to be heard. Click the link my name if you want to, if not its cool peace :)

  • bang

  • i like this song BITCHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

  • EL has it

  • reincarnate of illmatic nas

  • @wynstont no, why does everyone compare the 2? nas changed the game completely, he was the first of his kind. a trendsetter for every rapper that came after him...elzhi has been around for 13 years and hasnt accomplished what nas did with that 1 album..

  • @TheMelkManNYKfan different situations. eL didn't change the game in 13 years, 'cause detroit never had a major label around nor the same "weight" as ny or la.plus, Nas worked hard after illmatic, he was still dope but he never reached that level again, but eL IS ON THAT LEVEL. at his 30's, no one is better than eL. Illmatic is the greatest album of all time but eLZhi is way more consistent than Nas and if you ask me, i'd rather have all this great musical work eL provides over Nas' 1st 2 albums.

  • @rmsg120nsb elzhi has what 3 albums?? not including black milk.. im saying instead of copying off nas he couldve realesed a whole other album!!! u no? and listen to deja vu, my will, nas is like, last real nigga alive, star wars, ny state of mind 2, small world, undying love, original project windows, come get me, ur da man, rewind, stillmatic intro, one mic, second childhood, all of the lost tapes, book of rhymes, just a moment, thiefs theme, black republican, queens get the money, Nas>elzhi

  • @TheMelkManNYKfan easy, nas is my top 5/3 ever, so i don't need to listen to those songs 'cause i already know them and i've already bumped them heavily. all i'm sayin' is i prefer eL over Nas as i even prefer some tracks on eLmatic over the originals like "memory lane". cop/download eLZhi's body of work and give it a fair listen, if you think Nas is better, that's aight for me. much love...

  • @rmsg120nsb lol idk original memory lane is nice...but yea no hate im just saying...pce

  • @TheMelkManNYKfan but i agree with you, there's no posible comparision. they both dope and they have different styles, "the preface" blew me away almost as "illmatic" but if you give a close listen to both of them, you'll understand how Nas is better with rugged and raw 90's street rap style and how eL is a battle rapper with straight clever wordplay and lines. peace! ;)

  • @rmsg120nsb i no theres no comparison...im not trying to compare, that other dude was trying to say this is a reincarnation of illmatic. "beyond the walls of intelligence life is defined" "through ur existence become wealthy knowledge is king" "energy can never be destroyed only the flesh, this is why u cant kill me" "life was written the plot comes behind the setting" "understandable smooth shit that murderes move with" Nas is more that a rugged 90's dude he speaks wisdom 2

  • @TheMelkManNYKfan ok, you and rmsg120nsb need to both understand, this was only a tribute/homage to NaS' Illmatic...a lot of people keep saying that eLZhi copied his style...totally untrue...dude has his own catalogue as well, not as extensive as NaS, but he can do damage (Slum Village, etc).. he just flipped this "eLmatic" in another light with A LIVE BAND, which brought out the musical feel to the beats we were used to from Preemo, Pete Rock, Extra P, etc.... all eLZhi did was ENHANCE it!!!

  • @keziah1399 i don't got nothin' against that, it was a dope tribute with his own flip to it. elmatic and illmatic were two diferent projects, and imo two of the best pieces of work hip hop has ever presenced but i can't say elmatic was better than illmatic 'cause it came after. if it wasn't for illmatic, prolly elmatic would never happen. eL is my favorite lyricist and 1 of the goat imo but he's dope in his own way as nas is dope in his own way, that's the only comparision i can make.

  • @rmsg120nsb No question that if "Illmatic" wasn't created, "eLmatic" wouldn't have been made. I'm very aware that it's not better than Illmatic, it was just a different vision from another dope lyricist, so it was an added treat to my ears, as well as yours and everyone else :)

  • @TheMelkManNYKfan i feel like he has, he has the respect of the whole underground community thanks to SV. but all I was saying was that he has a very similar style of rapping to nas, and im sure most others who compare the two share the same sentiment.

  • This kinda reminds me of the joe budden song 'in my sleep'..

    def two dope ass songs!

  • 7 people didnt wake up and were locked in there dreams

  • Sick flow, rhyme and beats

  • Elzhi has as much if not more RANGE than any MC right now... who can make a nice ass rap about a dream and descirbe it perfectly? only Elzhi of course! im convinced this dude can make a sick ass rap about anything... Elzhi's rhymes are so potent if he rapped on acid , you'd literaly go through a trip!

  • God has sent us our 2nd hip hop prophet! The first being Nas :) I'm glad to be alive to witness

  • Elzhi sick on the rhymes and it cant fail with Black Milk on the beat, sick!

  • this song is too much. lil wayne go back to the drawing board and get your weight up!

  • Sales don't equal greatness.. underground for life.. for the love..

  • Elzhi.. top 5 alive, no doubt..

  • Everybody loves an underdog untill they make it, dont try and diss jcole now youve heard elzhi just appreciate both of their talents init!

  • We need more story tellin' tracks like this now a days..

    Classic Hip Hop!

  • Elzhi's a beastt

  • dude has the perfect balance of music and lyrics idont get why he isnt bigger but eh oh well they missing out

  • @90mv they say he ain't bigger cause of his songmakin' ability but , even more after listenin' to this, that sounds like non-sense to me.

  • This is real lyricism right here..

I laught at Niggas saying Cory Gunz is lyrical..lol fucking mumbling nigga.

  • @afterlifeproducer Cory is nice, but nothin' on eL's level...

  • fuck all that!!! when you talkin bout "ILL",ELZHI should always be in the conversation!!!past, present,or future!!!

  • ELMATIC!

  • THIS TRAck Is DOPe!!!

  • thank you for making music elzhi

  • he kinda remind me of nas in this 1

  • @yungmoneyj

in deadly medley video he even dressed like nas

  • 5 dislikes for this. Your source is off course!

  • great stoy telling thee legend

  • one of the reasons i still cling to the fact that someday rap should all come back to this.

  • Some of the best storytelling.

  • El was the best in Slum Village. Go back dawg, SV needs you.

  • fuck your lists. Elzhi is the best rapper alive. end of story.

  • SO MUCH SWAG PACKED INTO ONE JAM!!

  • jay electronica has kind of a similar song, Dimethyltryptamine

  • BLACK MILK and ELZHI.....classic combo that to ME feels like the pure Hip Hop bliss of Primo and Nas, Eric B. and Rakim, Marley Marl and Biz Markie, Marley Marl and Big Daddy Kane, Havoc and Prodigy, RZA and ANY dolo member of the Clan, Primo and GURU, Pete Rock and CL, Erick Sermon and Parish, Erick sermon and Redman, J Dilla and Q-tip....

  • @Bamfism wow:D

  • @Bamfism bro missing Mos Def, Kweli, and Blu cmon now...

  • @Bamfism ......I fell you. Cats talkin' bout the good ol' days, but we gotta appreciate what we got right now. There ARE cats bringin' heat....this joint, knocks! To quote a late, great producer....LETS GO!

  • Comment removed

  • @Bamfism Talib and Hi-Tek

  • @Bamfism well said, sir, well said!

  • @Bamfism super lyrical by big pun and black thought

  • Got mad props for El. This beat is nasty.

  • elzhi has pretty deep shit, people can be "allright, he's a battle mc" but he ain't just that. He's the most conscious, complex, meaningful and realest mc to ever touch a mic. he has tracks like i've never seen before."The preface" is by far the best album of this century and everythin this cat does is dope.People compare him to nas too often, don't get me wrong, nas is one of my favorites but there's somethin about el that makes him difference. He's an underground legend and my GOAT already.

  • @rmsg120nsb i vote GOAT as well

  • this album wus good....... get it if u haven't support real hip hop!!!!!!

  • awesome!

  • wow... he kills this beat. this song is perfect

  • <-- CLICK HERE FOR A DOPE YOUG EMCEE!! i wont disappoint :)

  • Elzhi needs to do a track with Jay Elec & J. Cole

  • @SwAgGaRyT Honestly J. Cole Is My Fav Rapper, But I Think El Would Embarrass Him AND Jay. He's TOO Deep And He Has Better Lyrical Images Than Them

  • @SwAgGaRyT take J. Cole outta that..i'm starting to see he's turning into something he wasn't before..in due time he will be like Drake..& that's not good.

  • @6angelo9 did you not hear the 2 songs that got leaked like a month ago? look up the good son and killers, doesnt sound like hes changing much, hes goin more into story tellin and better hip hop

  • @6angelo9 dawg i kind of see that too but i'm waiting for his album to see what he has in stores

  • @SwAgGaRyT No J. Cole, he sucks. He needs a song with RA Scion.

  • @ArbyWanKenobi ur fuckingg kidding me right? j.cole sucks? im a hip-hop junkie and j.cole is fire and might get exposure and save hip hop

  • @soupkilla9 No no no, if anyone's gonna save hip hop it's Jay Elec.

  • @ArbyWanKenobi Jay Electronica is hot but, will he get exposure in this rap game like Cole. I don't think so, and he has age on him, while i see Cole staying in the game for a long time.

  • @soupkilla9 Well Slug & DOOM are both in their 40s, and they're two of the biggest names in the underground scene.

  • @ArbyWanKenobi do u see them saving hip-hop in the mainstream scene, where people actually jam to their shit

  • @soupkilla9 Slug's been on Leno, Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel, DOOM sells out shows from Paris to Germany PLUS gets regular airtime on Adult Swim, and both get serious offers from people like AOL Time Warner and Interscope every year. Hell, Blu just signed a contract to a major label recently!

  • @SwAgGaRyT no he doesnt.... he's fine without those sellouts lol

  • @SwAgGaRyT I like Jay elec, and J. Cole but I feel like Elzhi might expose em man, dude is on a diff level than everybody with even a shred of fame.

  • @dopescale oh for sure man El has total domination on tracks but when J. Cole and Jay Electronica get down right, ain't no denying their talent

  • @SwAgGaRyT Thumbs up x100000

  • @SwAgGaRyT both of them dudes is trash.... they so boring on their tracks....

  • This dude is the sickest MC on the planet - bar NONE.

  • The beat is hot and dude is nice. I never heard of him until Joe Budden mentioned him as one of the nicest MC's. Im listening now.

  • str8 detroit hip hop

  • @helladabbers detroit has been putting it on heavily, even AFTER Em premiered in '8 Mile'.....

  • @keziah1399 yea im from detroit not a big fan of em tho he sold out fosho and all his new music is trash. but i do like a lot of my local hip hop like j-dilla, elzhi, royce, blade icewood, one be lo just to say a few

  • on this track elzhis flow reminds me of nas

  • @mcenvelop totally agree...concept raps kills, but it's buried under bullshit..and WE all know what the bullshit is...

  • @keziah1399 word

  • @mcenvelop yeah man

  • man...ich liebe dieses lied.....!!!!!!

  • I'm really feelin this shit... his lyrics are rediulous

  • i prefer the jake one beat to this song.. DREAM... but either way the lyrics are OUTSTANDING.... listen to the words THOUGH!!! this shit IS Inception it's the CRAZIEST SHIT!!! "i know i'm not and my eyes aint red but i jus saw the world divide on the edge, it flips over..." ring any bells???? heres the kicker this song was written 2 or 3 years ago!!! before inception was written... WTF??

  • @deadly6havoc elzhi is a fuckn beast bro

  • Comment removed

  • TRACK TIGHT AZZ FUCK!

  • "Okay, I'm drug in a fight, I'm alright long as my hands can touch him

I swung the right but the left is a charm

They were both flowin in slow motion, I must have slept on my arms"

DAMN... genius how he captures the feeling u have, when u fight in a dream when ur arms are asleep!

  • 4 people missed the like button.

  • this track is off tha fuckin chain!!! lyrics r out of this world and tha beat just takes tha soul out my body!!! and all y'all muthafukaz that say joe buddens is a beast, GO FUCK YOURSELVES!!!

  • @BUD5MOKA1 joe budden IS a beast... he's not fuckin with Elzhi... but i mean its all real rap why complain when someone else has a plausible opinion

  • @deadly6havoc naw Joe Budden is better.

  • @TheHNIC88 lol you're crazy Elzhi is like Nas on illmatic in 2010

  • @deadly6havoc no he's not. Elzhi isnt even as good as One Be Lo. Joe Budden is better lyrically and thats a fack

  • @TheHNIC88 you're crazy Elzhi has nas double bar delivery that he had on illmatic and all the lyricism i think you're confused myself

  • @TheHNIC88 HA! I would laugh in ya face if you said that to me, homie! REAL TALK!

  • @mrpostman730 Let's be serious, if you're pitting Lo vs. Elzhi that shit is personal preference because they are two of the BEST emcees from this era. I personally will take Lo over Elzhi but they are both two of my favorites. As far as Budden, no. Budden is dope, but Lo and Elzhi are just on another level. Detroit hip-hop in general is just superior to most (One Be Lo, Elzhi, Magestik Legend, Finale, Black Milk, etc). Some of the realest, most insightful shit I have ever heard.

  • @HOmieA1761 I gotta agree with that. Something about detroit cats, as a whole they just seem to be on a deeper level than others. Detroit is putting out nothing but heat right now.

  • I've heard 5 tracks produced by Black Milk and he's easily becoming one of my favourite producers already, HOLY SHIT this guy is fucking good!

  • @BryterLayter26 true so... its like his beats ease ur soul

  • dilla is Dilla,

but props to Black Milk for carrying on the legacy.

Detroit scene this is hip hop and Milk is doing his thing to perfection.

  • Holy fantastic beat, batman!

  • The duo of Black and Elzhi is just as good as any Producer/Emcee combo to ever walk the earth.

  • this shit is jammin

  • I don't understand how people can dislike this kind of music. This shit is real hip hop. And much love to the underground and all my people who still appreciate the message in music and clever lyricism.

  • i dont know but this elzhi joint mad eme say elzhi>nas, when it comes too storytelling

  • this shit made me zone out

  • real hip hop

  • shits like soul music, perfect when im smokin.

  • damn just found out about this cat today. im a huge slaughterhouse, j.cole, jay electronica fan. this dude is niceee

  • yo anyone wanna suggest Elzhi's best songs?

  • @MrHomeWorkout Elzhi is too consistant to have "best songs". Everything he writes is pure genius.

  • What album is this off of?

  • This song is iight, but i might listen to it some more....

  • a metaphor in creation...lol

  • Elzhi and Black Milk complement each other so fucking well, EVERY time.

  • One of my favorite tracks off the album

  • just heard this guy for the first time a week or so ago.. can't believe it took me this long to find him. good hip hop for sure

  • I won't say Elzhi's the best rapper out now, but he sure as hell's my favourite.

I wanna hear him and J Cole on a beat tryna outshine eachother lol

  • somebody knows what album/mixtape this is on?

  • @milescora its his solo debut album the preface

  • @milescora the preface

  • this is incredible hiphop

  • Nice

  • Detroit Hip-Hop!

  • too many amazin lines in this trak man.. one of his best
