  • Yea let's go to college and be a high ranking private who don't know what the fuck to do in combat!

  • Here's a tip:

Go to college. If you do the stupid thing of going to the army just after high school, your always going to have a low rank. With a 4 year degree you can actually have a high rank and win a lot of money. My friends uncle didnt go to college, and hes been in the army for 14 years and hes barely staff general.

  • I love all you're videos. How long were u in army

  • my drill told this know it all trying to interrupt him "im fucking the cat yall are just holdng its tail" hahahahaha

  • im 22 and seriously considering doing Army or Navy. is that too old? and what are the best MOS's for having a skill set that transfers over to civilian life?

  • @Predsfan89 honestly you should research it..too old..not hardly i was in ait with two 40 year old soldiers...you should be able to see the civilian equivalent to army jobs on goarmy.com..cant go wrong with the military tho..good luck

  • @freeandaccepted357 thanks! i appreciate the help!

  • Hey Jim! Been watching your videos for quite some time. Hilarious videos! Anyways enlisted back in September, 35F intel analyst E4 hooah! Ship out to Ft. Jackson in March

  • are you still good at pushups and situps

  • hey jim, I'm in middle school and I want to join the army's infantry when im 18, how should i train to be a good runner

  • @JRFOXHOUND75th The way they trained us was monday wind sprints back and forth, Weds a short run of about one to two miles, Friday three mile run. And once a month we did the commander's run which was run until the colonel gets tired. Once at Fort Bragg NC we ran about 7 miles.

  • @Talljim01

wow, when my bro was in infantry school or basic training they did the same thing about the commanders run but they ran 28 miles around sand hill Ft. Benning

  • @Talljim01 hey man im 19 and im qualified for the army but im just unsure if its the right choice....so i just wanna know was it worth it?

  • @JRFOXHOUND75th join the track team cross country if they have one running will increase your cardio and stamina endurence is preferable to brute strength i spent 17 yrs active army ive conducted to many pt sessions to count good luck to you

  • @snooch1975 I actually am in the track team but I could never make the running events including my strength: 100 meter dash, there are so many people better than me

  • @JRFOXHOUND75th dont worry just keep at it you will get stronger and most of the time it is not brute strenght that wins the race but indurance infantry requires lots of that they are going to walk your legs off lol just keep at it and youll do way better than the average guy when you show up to ft. benning ga.

  • @JRFOXHOUND75th Join the Track team. Thats what I did

  • @JRFOXHOUND75th HAHAHAHA im going in infantry i go to basic end of august to Fort Benning. After MEPS you should do the future soldier training if possible. very helpful not only for running and stuff, but they teach you formations and stuff like that. and DO ROTC in high school you can ranked up to an E4 rather then a E1

  • @jakerawr101

the high school im going to has a navy rotc, i cant find a high school with an army rotc

  • @jakerawr101 four years of Rotc will get you the rank of E-3 not E-4

  • @lordkillzone1..... dude, i said do the future soldier stuff that gets you ranked up too, so ya adding the ROTC will get to to be a E4

  • @jakerawr101 well i could be wrong i have no problem with it at all

  • @jakerawr101 be an e4 that dosent know shitttt

  • Dude seriously I love watching your videos, I'm thinking about going into the Army. I hope I don't get any shitty leaders.

  • Dining hall? Kinder, gentler Army?

  • @Twinkier1 It was a mess hall, they just (for some unknown reason) called it the 'dining hall'.

  • im thinking about going to the army (canadian) i think in 4 years when im 18 ill be fit enough but i dont know what the testing gonna be like like

  • hated that first day lol i tripped down the stairs of the bus and god i swear drill sergeants are piranhas i had like five run over an yell at me lol

  • @LordLeralu haaa I hated messing up around them. I am so tall I ran into the AC unit hanging over the door. The Drill was screaming, You stupid ass private you just dented my air conditioning unit you dumbass private. My head was bleeding and he was like, dont you dare get blood on my clean floor!

  • Southern Accent in the south OMG.

  • Hey Jim i'm going into the army as an M1 Abrams crewmember. Anything you can tell me about them?

  • @DeeznutsFYC Not really, but try google. Most of my units didnt even have the Abrams

  • @DeeznutsFYC We're DATs man. (Dumb Ass Tankers) But everyone else is a crunchie.

Leaving for basic in three days I'll let you know how it goes although if you leave after April you'll go to Ft. Benning instead of Ft. Knox.

    19k all the way.

  • this shit is dumb...

  • Not all us M.P.'s are/were assholes. You just met the wrong ones. I'd let ANYBODY buy me a beer . lol When we got to McClellan, got off the bus from Atlanta, then our regular drill sgts appeared and started screaming and nitpicking every damn thing. I was in Delta-795th M.P.'s The Delta Demons! lol I gotta try to find my old basic training sweatshirt. Shouldn't be too hard to find - it's Big Bird yellow. Gonna check out the basic training story...

  • hahaha you are halarious dude, be a comedian for the army bro

  • is that the original sweatshirt from 1984?

  • @justforpoox Yep the same one

  • @justforpoox hahaha like how many fuckin times is he gonna say it

  • @bumper22ful glad someone got that.

  • Im from Mississippi, am I destined to be a DS? haha

  • Thanks for sharing your experience with us,

    George Vreeland Hill

  • how old were ya when you enlisted....I;m seriously enlisting myself and going to the finance school

  • good shit mane... this is real an funny at the same time

  • I think my biggest worry would be not being able to control my laughter. Im sure that will go away though haha.

  • @gbsons LOL, I swear. I try watching Drill Sargent's on TV without laughing and I just bawl, whenever I see how serious they are for no reason.

  • Basic training at ft. leanordwood, mo was a life altering experience.7 years later i was a drill sgt there.

  • @bubier307 I went to basic there as well. A-2-10. Summer of 1993. Then I spent my entire enlistment with the 82nd. Airborne. A guy who I went to high school with. We had the same recruiter. He was a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Leonard Wood. I believe he's either an E-7 or E-8 now.

  • My story is, I joined the army back in 2006, and two deployments later I hate my life until I get out, can't wait Lmao.

  • @bddblade whats so bad about it?

  • @groves1990 Lol, go ahead and join for a couple years and pick the worst possible MOS, then you'll know why :D

  • @bddblade haha i got 35F which is intelligence analyst..supposed to be one the best jobs. guess ill see haha leave in january for basic

  • @bddblade hang in there man!

  • R.Lee Ermey lol 'What is that?! WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!?'

Some of the best info Ive found online right here.

  • hey man can you make some more recruiting videos about BCT and stuff? i'm re-enlisting and trying to get some dudes to enlist with me but its nice to show them stuff from other people so it seems like i'm not just talking out of my ass about the army.

  • @MrRanger1987 ill enlist with you

  • 11 Bravo all the way! Follow me! HOAH!

  • can you get in the army with a high school letter of completion?that when you have all your high school credits.

  • @fatjohn91 you can enlist at 17 years old but you can only complete BCT and do Reserve and National Guard (you can't complete AIT and serve Active Duty until you reach 18).

  • this dude is cool as shit haha

  • we call it the chow hall...still

  • Gotta love the Hollywood Drill Sergeants!

  • GET DOWN PRAVITE!!! ROFL!!

  • I think he meant your head is shaped like an egg.

  • @head4ever Uhm no, he meant I have eggs for brains, just like he said.

  • @Talljim01 You mean like the green eggs they serve in Basic? Yum!

  • @Talljim01 Hi buddy ex british infantry here, boy that sure brought back some memory's of basic training reception, our cppl's and sargent's where animals, some funny shit happened in our 6 months basic training, enjoyed the post gonna grab a 6 pack and have a laugh viewing some of the others. If anyones waiting to go to basic training whatch some of Talljim01's posts cause this is what its like basic it hard but also funny as cheers.

  • @head4ever i think so too

  • your videos are hilarious haha oh and very educating...be enlisting next year

  • Awesome video man. I often miss my time in the Army. The good times were super amazing and I have a ton of great stories as well. Too bad we had to do stuff like CSM detail and the like. Red cycle SUCKED. But being overseas was worth it all really. Keep putting these out!

  • Thats not true they still call it the Chow Hall. I leve for Ft. Sill for basic September 1st as a 13 Bravo, and all of your videos really help so i just wanted to say thanks for giveing me a look in to what ill be doing in BCT.

  • @thepearljamfan Hell yeah man, im 13bravo too aint no party without the arty! HOAH! lol. I leave in november goin to ftsill. I ran 2 miles yesterday and threw up 3 times. Im shittin bricks about the running. Im not overweight just smoker for 10 years. I say "just" lol, yeah it wooped my ass..and imma have to woop it again to get back in shape. I can do pushups all day though. Hey man good luck...and dont spit when in formation. lol.

  • @MrTex1987 Find a quarter mile track and get up to where you can run 12 laps, ie. 3 miles. Then in basic the 2 miles will be easy.

  • @MrTex1987 man dont worry too much about running and the pft. thats where people seem to lose their head and over train preparing for the military. as long as you can get the minimum 1min push up, 1 min sit up, and 1mile run at reception they put you in your ability run groups during your actual BCT. you end up running slightly over your comfort pace but during week one your only running about 15minutes. if your in ability group c or d in some cases you will only end up running about 1.5miles

  • @MrTex1987 as the weeks progress the time goes up by 5 minutes up to a total of about 30minutes by the end of BCT. most of the time if they have a c and d group they will cut those 2 groups out halfway through basic and make everybody run in the next group up. if you run in group a which is the fastest you end up running a total of about 3 miles 2x a week max by the end of bct. other than that you do 60:120s sprinting for 60sec and walking for 120seconds x5 then build up to about 8-10 on wk 9

  • @MrTex1987 the pt and pft are literally the easiest things at BCT you can do. wait until freakin grass week and stuff when you just sit there in firing positions and dry fire in the most uncomfortable positions ever that sucks. if you can pass the reception PFT to get into basic there is really no reason that everybody shouldnt pass army BCT unless for some injury or severely being homesick.. BCT will be one of the easiest things you do in the army.

  • Man, You should tell these guys about "the Pit".

  • @chazkm We never got to do the pit.

  • @Talljim01 I'm surprised. I thought back in the 80's you guys lived in the pit haha. There would be nights at Ft. Knox where we would get awakened at 1 in the morning to roll around in the sand for an hour.

  • @Talljim01 whats the pit?

  • those were some cool sweatshirts!

  • were u infantry and u did reception and basic training in alabama i thought basic training was only in ft. benning

  • @JRFOXHOUND75th No, I was signal. Started out in multichannel and ended up in MSE that new, well at the time new, wireless phone communications system that GTE had come up with for the Army.

  • @JRFOXHOUND75th fort benning is where infantry, rangers, special forces, and airborne go to train its a place for advanced training after boot camp..

  • were you in the army or marines?

  • @Frostyjesus US Army

  • @Talljim01 any thing special? i.e. rangers?

  • did you get kicked out of the army?

  • @alexfulton0 Nope, I was offered the choice of going to a promotion board and moving up, or taking a lump sum to get out. Due to family issues at home, I took the pay out.

  • wow this is nothing like how it really is but whatever.....get a job dude

  • @alexfulton0 faggot

  • @theprofessor1250 ...... why?

  • Yes, we MPs have large egos haha. You should see it at Ft. Leonard Wood. MPs and Combat Engineers side by side and those guys hate each other the most.

  • @Jaxter459 mps can lick ma balls with thier egos

  • your british accent is spot on mate, and the sweat shirt is bad ass

What would you say is the best thing you took from army life, and what would you say was your one regret with army life?

  • Hell yes Birmingham -I was born there.

  • nice you awesome dude....i wana join the army frome my country:D hope i make it:)

  • your vids are cool man

  • "Eggs for a head." Your head is shaped like an egg.. I think..

  • 1984?

  • he must be kin to Buzz Killington

  • Dude..what year was this? Ft. McClellan Basic Training?..that was yearssssss ago

  • It was 1984, I was 17 LOL. I'm not that old.

  • Good video

  • Ya'll still awake?

  • cant spell wimp without mp....cant spell chump without mp

  • cant spell pimp without mp

  • maybe we MPs are assholes because we really are better lol jkjk MPs and Chemical are now trained at Fort. Leonard wood MO

  • Dude, i want to volunteer for everything! I wanna get smoked so bad that ill be the baddest dude on the block. 11B Ranger. Leave June 9, 2010

  • @USARMYRANGER117 Hahaha. Slow down high-speed. Unless they've succeeded in pussifying basic, you'll get your fair share of smoking. Especially if you get to RIP.

  • i did my basic training almost a year ago this february 24th at ft leonard wood. all reception was "hurry up and wait............hurry up and wait" i was sitting down and waiting for a week my ass was NUMB! and our drill sergeants never called it a dining hall, it was just chow haha.

  • WTF

  • did you do your 20 years

  • No unfortunately, life got in the way and I had to get out.

  • like the video....leavn 4 ft benn june 15 2010

  • @xwqcrusader ha! im leavin for benning april 7th...

  • dude ima see u there i leave for benning april 6th from dallas texas

  • here in the South we prefer "southern draw". "Hillbilly" is pretty insulting.

  • Is reception like this now a days

How is basic training physically wise is it tough?

  • What year was the sweatshirt from?

  • I got it in 1984.

  • great clip i like it

  • "stress free?" wtf

  • Many of the reception drill sergeant's are reservists and guardsmen and live in the local area. The reason the alabama drill sergeants had an alabama accent.

  • funny video! i should make one, i just got out and i know what you mean!!!! i had drills with some funny ass accents!!! like this guy had a really rouph voice and talked like he had a really dry throught and his nose plugged!!! it was too funny and our platoon would literally try not lauphing when he would call cadence becuse you couldnt understand what he was saying!

  • give me some tips im about to got to basic how came i keep the drill sargents off my ass lol

  • You cant lol

  • hey send me a message i just got out of basic ill give you some pointers.

  • well one tip is try not to make yourself standout in any kind of way thats basically it

  • Do exactly what they say at all times, dont do anything stupid, and dont draw attention to yourself.

  • Fly on the wall, just remember that... Try to blend with the crowd.

  • good video

  • Great idea about cutting up the shirt and framing it! Gonna do that with mine, since it has seen better days and dont fit anymore!. I was Delta 2-3 Fort Dix winter '86

  • 20100113 Fot Sill 25 Bravo

  • Im going same day 13B

  • I really enjoy listening to your stories! its awesome

  • WOw I was in the same company same platoon

  • Hey tall jim, when did you first sign up?

  • December 1983. I shipped out Sept 1984.

  • cool vids. thanks for replying

  • hahahahaha.....

  • What the hell is wrong with the way we talk? What an asshole. I hope that give you major sh*t

  • The difference is visible.

  • whats wrong with the way we talk

    down here in alabama

  • haha my father was an MP, and he did his BCT/AIT at Ft Mcclean... but this was in 1982... p.s. he still is an asshole! haha jk

  • touching ones face during a story often indicates a fabrication of said story. generally. eye rubbing, ear scratching, ear tugging, chin scratching, etc. im probably full of shit though. just sayin.

  • Thats an old wive's tale. People who tell a true story rub their chin just as plain as someone telling a fish story.

  • do you know if you can join the army if you have a strong heartbeat? or if it beats a little fast?

Also, what is the worst crime that the Army can waive?

    BTW you have awesome vids.

    subscribing now.

  • Thanks

  • the only way to tell about the heart beat is to go to MEPS...as for the crime charges..the army is no longer accepting drug offenders, period..as for misd, it depends on what it was, how many charges, and how long ago it happened..i got in with two wreckless drivings..one was a dui downgraded..it was a bitch and i had to go through alot of shit..and they happend 3 1/2 years prior to my enlistment..hope that helped you out..best of luck..your making a good desicion..

  • Yeah i really want to go to the Army really really bad. Anyways, what is MEPS?

Oh, yeah my crime is pretty bad. It is a family violence crime, but it was against my mom(i know it sounds bad, but trust me, it was a joke)

and it wasn't serious at all. I was 17 when it happened, and i am 19 going on 20 now. Anyways, i think the heart thing is just paranoia, cause every other day i find rare disease that i am convinced i have.

  • well, for a joke, they seem to be doing a pretty damn good job.

  • Great vid. I leave for 21B Combat Engineer and this vid was reality or enlightenment for me. Thanks! Im so ready for the Army!

  • in theory.

engineers don't do shit these days....

  • your videos are too long shorten them up a bit

r lee ermy in full metal jacket is that who you were talkin bout

  • i think they're too short

  • Combat engineer all the way we go in before infantry to make sure it's "safe" lol

  • You forgot the "Shark Attack" welcome.

  • I'm enlisting a couple months. I heard the army's basic training was actually really easy...is it true? Its not like it really matters anyway, but still.

  • It all depends on where your basic training station is.

Before 9/11 Basic Training was ridiculous but after 9/11 guys were encouraged to go see movies and concerts on base to cut back on stress levels.

If your going to be an infantryman you'll go to Fort Benning, if you don't go infantry than you better not bitch.

  • Thanks...

  • By your ... I assume you are not going to be an infantryman.

Once you are done with BCT, AIT, and are actually in the Army, you'll understand. Infantry guys hate everyone that is not infantry and everyone else hates the infantry for hating them. It is a downward spiral.

Don't get me wrong, I liked being in the infantry 99% of the time.

What MOS are you shooting for ?

Everybody plays their part from; finance, mechanic, medic, artillery engineer, calvary, infantry, etc...

  • I actually was going for infantry. Really to be honest, its one of the best jobs you can you have right now. Free utilities, housing, medical, and dental (I think). Not to mention its a guaranteed job as long as I don't screw up. My father served in Iraq and Afghanistan so I know what to expect living the military life style.

  • Again, what is the MOS you are shooting for ? Your answer was not very clear; you were going for infantry ... your dad ... typical recruiter one liners....

Being an infantryman is a lot of fun when you are in the rear with the gear and the beer.

It begins to suck real quick when people start getting killed in your AO.

There is no such thing as a guaranteed job in the military. If you can't carry your own weight and help your buddies to your left an right then get a job or go to college.

    FTA.

  • I hadn't quite made up my mind yet...I was thinking maybe an IFI. I think it best fits my profile.

  • whoa .. he said DRILL SGT n i think i had a PTSD moment

  • R. Lee Ermey = Drill Sargent from "Full Metal Jacket"

  • Heading to New Orleans MEPs in the morning. Then its on to Fort Benning for BCT. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

  • Good Luck man, I leave on October 14, to Ft. Leonard Wood. HOOAH!!!!

  • "that smokey the bear hat" hahahaha! priceless

  • all you gotta do is spend 10 weeks getting used to some guy with a hat that has to yell at you just to ask you what are you doing private and get used to running 4 miles while you sing about how your wife is cheating on you with jody and rucking for miles and make sure you keep your mouth shut.your days will go by faster and easier

  • lol your ready to ship off NOW wait to you get there jk fort benning was fun just DONT stomp on the ruck march stress fractures are the best way to recycle

  • nice vid. im so ready im shipping off 20091027 to ft benning
