What amazing me is that the countries who suffered most whit a divided Europe are those where the public opinion are most against the European union. A united Europe is a peaceful Europe end peace is important enough to support a united Europe .
I think you will find that most Europeans are not against the EU but rather against an institution that is taking democracy away from nations and meddling in our lives without a legitimate mandate.
On top of this come the legion of EU lies : We respect the Irish NO, there are no plans for a European superstate or army, Galileo is for civil use only, the Constitution and Lisbon Treaty are not comparable etc...
A United Europe YES...but one based on democracy not lies.
If the problem is a lake of democracy and transparency in Europe, than lets talk about that and find ways to improve the democracy and the participation of the citizens in the European political process. The problem is that many critics of Europe maid their legitimate remarks in a way that jeopardize the future of EuropeI believe that Europe can not afford to be divided, in a time of global problems and challenges like economy, climate change, security etc
And Europe is NOT peace, Europe is WAR. ALL (I just said ALL) the EU members are members of OTAN, and OTAN is leaded by USA. so EU members have to follow American interests in Afghanistan and many other wars.

The Lisbon treaty is in violation of the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights :
Article 1 : All peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic and cultural development.
The European Arrest Warrant also violates the same Covernant ( Article 9).
Restore justice & democracy before both are gone for ever !

MEP = Massively Expensive Parasite. Since the EU is an obscene & corrupt centralised construct engineered for the benefit of NWO the politicians, who have all but no democratic input as all is decided by the unelected commission & with over 3,000 executive committees with NO democratic input, NO respect for democracy, several known criminals on the commission & NO valid accounts for 13 years it is a matter of paying adequate bribes for the self selected MEPs to act as salesmen. EU has NO merit
Is this the same José Barroso who holidayed on Spiro Latsis' yacht one month before the Greek shipping billionare was approved 10.3 MILLION Euros by Barroso's (un-elected) Council of Europe ?
The Irish "no" vote was larger than Obama's "yes" vote. Perhaps Barosso should ask the American electorate to vote again !
Check out Open Europe/eutruth/Libertas and VOTE in the coming European elections !
I like the emphasis on early school leavers. That's a real problem in Europe and in my surrounding. Something must be done. It's very nice that someone like Barroso talks about it. I also hope that 'Europe' can help bring down youth unemployment.
"The worst response do the downturn would be to abandon the policies that made Europe successful again."
This kind of liberal spinning is getting very tired, José.
When the glass seems half full, praise market and labour law deregulation. When the glass seems half empty, blame it on existing regulation and regulatory bodies.
It was basically the same lecture on the dangers of protectionism and government intervention into the economy. Bush's delivery was better than Barroso's, though.
The truth is that globalization is nothing to be afraid of. The task of Europe should be to be out in the international community to shape the global order according to European preference and in favor of Europe.
The only alarm I have is that "investments" in places like Belgium by Americans can mean that Europe can be "beholding" to American interests, even if the investors are not from the American government.
This is called "providing global goods" in American foreign policy lingo...
hi the eu is just great we are a force of peace democracy in our world a stronger more ecofriendly efficient eu fr johnnyb.

@LiiorTube The EU is a joke. I do not want it to exist unless Mr. Farage is a leader.

« To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history « .
( President Barack Obama, January 20,2009 ).
Vote EU sceptical in June's European elections to fight EU corruption and save true DEMOCRACY.
Good luck to the Irish in October !
P.S.
1.Why is the right to VOTE missing from the European Charter ?
2.Why has the death penalty ("lethal force") been re-introduced for "civil upheaval" ?

I understand your concerns, but in my opinion, youth unemployment will take care of itself in the mid-term.
It's a question of supply and demand. Remember that Europe's labour force is shrinking by the year...

Maybe stopping to stick to the elusive dream of an independent Europe would help.
The goal of the EU is to prepare for the merger between the EU and North America.
Bear with it and end your propaganda.
In this regard, there is no issue in large US investments in Belgium. It is just part of the preparation.
