  • Just saw it on DVD. Absolutely atrocious. Both boring and lurid, back and forth. Hayward and Mike "Mannix" Connors are way too old to be playing 20 somethings in the mid 1940s. Jumping ahead to '64, j.d. daughter Joey Heatherton gets caught in a Turner/Stompanato/Crane killing and you wish they'd just put away the whining Heatherton for good. Shot mostly on crappy sets. Only Bette Davis walks away with any dignity, and with the flick's best comebacks.

  • i dont think this movie ever made it to u.k. i had never heard of it. i am looking forwords to seeing it. thank you.

  • Is this film available on the market ?

  • Susan Hayward deservedly got first billing on this movie. It was the first time in decades Bette Davis surrendered top billing to another female. The legendary stars did not get along at all. Bette suggested some script changes but Ms. Hayward had script approval and was wary of Bette and insisted they shoot the script or she would take a walk. Ironically Ms Davis always claimed "There was no one whose performances I admired more than Susan Hayward"

that was until they made this movie!

  • Thank you for posting! This is one of the greatest movies of the period. Wish it'd be released on dvd.
