@RingSight91 no i'm talking about driving a car, my dad used to let me borrow his old 240sx to practice driving on the roads late at night since i was 12, i know that it is illegal but there aren't a lot of people around where i live so naturally there's no cops, if i had lived in a less rural area needless to say he would have never let me do this. Before i drove the car i did race dirt bikes and go carts, i just like to race, its pretty much an obsession of mine.
Dean won't do the mirror check because they don't do that in Zimbabwe. For one thing, their mirrors are likely to be busted. And two, it wouldn't matter even if you did see a vehicle in the lane. In a lot of places overseas, you "assert" your way into the other lane. In that respect, checking over your shoulder is an exercise intended to see how "safely" you can cut-off the other vehicle; basically you're sizing-up the competition and getting a good look is better than noticing in the mirror.
They should have awarded Dale with the trophy right away. "Playing" with someone while flooring a car at them is NEVER acceptable, especially in the hands of a bad driver, or any driver for that matter. It's very easy to mix up the gas/brake pedals. Dale's a dumb fuck, is she Angelina's mom or something ? (From season 5)
I think Dale's nephew needs to do what the guy did in episode 2 and cancel the insurance and have her reported to the police especially after aiming her car at the host and flooring it.
I feel sorry for the guy that has the wife that is the backseat driver. I think the problem he has is just her, if he was to do what Dale did with the host as a passenger I think he would be fine.
What the hell is wrong with Dale? Most of the time people are too cocky, have confidence issue or just plain lack skill. That woman on the other hand has something wrong with her brain. A car is a deadly weapon. Playing with a car that way is like playing with a loaded gun. She should have been arrested.
i dont understand why it is so hard to drive a damn car, i've been driving since i was 12 years old and i've never got a ticket, been in an accident, or even scratched my car
@cryserjM1911 Driving AT 12 itself is a ticketable offense, unless you're talking about driving farm equipment under adult supervision. Any other "vehicle operation" at that age doesn't count as "driving", and that includes racing go karts and nobody cares how good you thought you were at that.
@Tygearianus The deer analogy was purely for illustrative purposes about Stopping Distances. The lesson wasn't about Deer Avoidance you nit. Would it have made you happier if a running CHILD was CGI'd 4 meters in front of the car? Should you try and hit it too instead of evading?
"i am not a bad driver anymore, Andrew!" sorry Dale, i've seen your driving and i wouldn't be surprised if that was you going the wrong way on a one-way street a few weeks ago
@allwheeldrive1 would be interesting from where you got that "number", however we're not talking about "the world" but Canada, Canada is an industrial country, and I don't think that in any industrial country the non-ABS cars are more than 10 percent, historical or classical cars excluded.
@TheTuxator Many people still buy used cars since they are cheaper, and many people can't afford a new car. A lot of the used cars on the market have no ABS, so it's good that people learn this skill just in case.
ABS was only standardized, (at least in the US) about ten to fifteen years ago, and a lot of cars that are on the road are older than that.
@SpeedsterGuyCoverage whoops, sorry that I misspelled that word _one_ time...and yes you've to brake that way when you drive in a car that doesn't have ABS. But dude try and find such a car, you can't even buy a new car without ABS. And no, I'm not wrong, if you use your brake that way in an ABS equipped car it's friggin dangerous.
ok srsly? the show is really dangerous. It's just stupid to say that you've to not break when avoiding an obstacle! It's so wrong, for saying that my driving instructor would've thrown me out of the car, regardless of speed! ALWAYS FUCKIN BREAK!!! Your car has friggin ABS for still being able to maneuver. And it really is stupid/dangerous to turn it off (like they do in the show).
@TheTuxator Due to the fact that you can't actually spell brake properly, I'm going to assume everyone will dismiss your comment. And I hope they do. Because you are wrong. It was clearly explained in the show under what circumstances it is best not to brake to avoid an obstacle.
@SpeedsterGuyCoverage Not to mention that actually *watching* what happens when a driver hits the brakes vs when they don't is a pretty good proof the swerve (hope I spelled that right) and avoid technique DOES work. Besides, ABS brakes don't make a friggin difference in this technique anyway.
@TheTuxator Considering that Létourneau is a professional instructor for very specialized driving skills, I'd say that he knows his stuff. The show does NOT say to *never* hit the brakes. They explain - very clearly - that *under certain circumstances*, you must do a maneuver FIRST, to get out of the way, and THEN hit the brakes.

It's pretty risky to avoid hitting the deer on the road.. some people ended by up hitting a tree or things that you don't want to crash into.

Actually according to the Driver's Manual and Defensive driving courses, you should hit the deer instead of trying to avoid it.
