here in the Netherlands we now have mandatory health insurance (130% fine per month if you don't get insurance).

We used to have a public option for everyone who was doing labour for a Dutch company.. That system worked great (in my opinion).

Now it feels like the people have been sold to the insurance companies.

Yeah and when I worked in Rotterdam and the Huage I remember that health care was provided, unemployed were housed and fed, prostitution was regulated and legal and also pot was legal in the coffee shops, no crime anywhere really. Police were very friendly. All very civilized and in control. Only problem was the executives I worked with paid almost 70% of their companies profits in TAX. Nobody in America would stand for 70% tax. And right wing would fight the sex, pot, and human rights.
