  • what kind of creature is that ?? hmm

  • i wonder what made those shadows. . . . . .

  • wow almost nothing at the seafloor,so quiet,so boring?

  • i guess that was a hagfish swimming around at the beginning

wonder what all the others were though

  • The purple creature crawling around at the beginning (for a week or more) is a sea cucumber with the amazing name Psychropotes longicauda. it grows up to six inches long.

The stuff falling down and landing with a splat on the seafloor is called marine snow. it's basically bits of snot (mucus), poop (fecal pellets), and dead bodies (of animals living in the water above). Marine snow is what most deep-sea animals eat.

  • i meant the other random fish

  • marine snow? thats awsome!

  • @MBARIvideo thx i was wondering what were those white things.

  • Most of the fish you see are Coryphaeonoides, also known as rattails or grenadiers. They're the most common fish at this study site.

  • mmm...nice fake i guess, :D, its well known that all types of flying fish lay there eggs at the bottom, and thats one of its siblings,:D:D

  • What is all of that stuff that seems to snow down through the video? (compare 0:30 with 2:00 for example)

  • I have the same question

  • @Rendova1 Dead animals I assume.

  • fascinating...

  • Wow, there's so much activity. I love that weird purple thing that sniffs around.
