The evidence of my experience is that most people who call themselves Christians routinely do things that either Jesus or the Churches of antiquity would have regarded with a combination of fear, awe, anger and ignorance. What do you think Jesus would make of air travel ? It has nothing to do with the will of God and disproves Jesus' whole understanding of the physical world. Even cars would have freaked them out, let alone washing machines.

What you're suggesting is that we should be following the laws of the Old Testament. Most Christian leaders today will tell you that the Old Testament laws are outdated (such as no working on the sabbath).
