As it swings the liquid inside warms up, causing it to rise. It hits the water and it gets cooled down, causing the liquid to lower.

Nice video. I just bought a 9" drinking bird from ebay uk.
How long does your bird keep drinking for? Does it eventually stop after a while?

as long as the bottom is hotter than the head it will keep going... - aka if the head keeps dipping in water it will keep going forever

I have the very same bird (not the same colors but anyway) and it has 1 week uptime for now, I just had to refill the glass from time to time (2-3 days). I'll try to stop it and see if it starts from itself... perhaps it stops but it also has the ability to start again by itself.

I found it at eBay US and also at Arbor Scientific Online.
Learned there's an ever larger version (same make).
It stands about 12" tall, top of the head to the table surface, so I think I will get that one.
Found one of them on ebay the other day.
I don't know why these all-glass birds are so rare to find for sale.

Go to ebay store called "Lada'sfinds". She only sells high quality hand made glass drinking from Europe. It is US store.
She also offers very fast delivery at very low price
