  • We never put bay leaves into "gulyás". And you can use much more red pepper in order to give the food deep red color. And more intense flavour of course.

  • Where is the second part?

  • @mirasprofile You should see it on the right hand side as you watch part 1

  • Can I use grounced dry basil? In my country I don't have this available

  • I AM Hungarian and here in america my Mom or Anya puts carrots and potatoes in in it

  • I'm mainly swedish and hungarian was my favorite meal cooked by my %100 swedish grandmother!

    Timothy

  • Many variations exist, even within families, but this gives viewers a good basis and the basics to start with. My dad did not add tomato or parsnips and used a mixture of lamb and beef along with kohlrabi instead. Growing up, I preferred "American hot dogs and hamburgers or pizza'", but later re-descovered again the true savory flavors of Magyar cooking. My children grew up loving to visit Granpa's house for his authentic cooking skills. If I could only re-create those flavors today!

  • Would it be more tasty if you roast the meat a little before adding the water? Anyway thanks for sharing the recipe ;)

  • @leonardoulian actually it is more tasty if you fry it very well with salt and garlic and then add the water .. tastes heavenly

  • I'm Korean. I love Hungary!!! +_+

  • You must use more paprika powder, and do not put it in to the hot oil, because it's bitter the soup. But nice job.

  • It is actually pronoounced like Gouliash sounding with a y, NOT goulash...

  • @LERI628

actually the normal pronuncination is gooyash. In the hungarian alphabet, 'j' and 'ly' is the same sound, but back in the old days 'y' was used instead of 'j', and when the language got modernised, they left this letter in with a prefix.

  • u put the water to early to the meat
