  • Great song ! However, it's not the originally released recording because this version doesn't have the backup vocals in the background.

  • EPIC.

  • @Domk931 Sure will....if I can find it!

  • I listened to this song when I watched the movie Iron Eagle...I was 9 or 10...don´t remember so well, but it´s a great song.

  • Blues Brothers is all I think of with this song

  • This is the version we grew up with in NZ. Brings back memories. Thanks for the upload - fabulous song!

  • Much better than the re-arranged version.

  • yes it s true...US soldiers in Vietnam used to play rock full blast because they thought it would drive the vietcongs minds crazy...ray manzarek of the doors was a helicopter pilot in Nam(for a few months) and he said that in an interview.

  • can't seem to find anywhere who did the production on this song. anyone know?

  • meh. I love the song, but this version could use some more cowbell.

  • Nice record player

  • I'm from the US and love both versions. Brits saved the US from crappy music and disco, thanks mates.

  • @TheSkiingGuru S'been a pleasure, Sir!

  • that organ...fantastic song and steve s vocals performance...awesome!

  • It was so long ago in the sixties but, our band, The Noblemenn always opened with this song after we learned it! So exciting. Hearing it brings back so many memories. We played it for the troops during the 1967 riots at many high schools where they were staying and at the Michigan State Fair grounds.

  • Fantastic sound on that Organ!!! Love it!!! What a voice...!!!

  • Ice Cream!!!!!

  • The BBC seem to have mislaid the original...Sounds of the Sixties always plays the awful US version

    Jim

  • That organ sound is THE finest example of a good grungy Hammond I have heard

  • @pint6x

    Absolutely right

  • Days Of Thunder.......Very Very Best!!!

  • Love this song, grew up with it, love Stevie Winwood. Organ sounds great as they did back then.

  • New to me...never knew the US version was overdubbed...kinda miss the backing vocals, but the overall sound is mindblowing...thanks Sid

  • WHen I first heard this record I thought it was Junior Walker singing it ! It was this plain no cowbell, no backing vocals! LOVE IT!

  • I don't care if they sound blue I love this music. Lord what a great ERA for music.

  • They sound black though

  • until I found this, I didn't know WHERE Steve Winwood came from, he seemed to appear out of nowhere with great hits. Lol.

  • some huey crews used this sound on speciality mounted speakers when mounting a mission in the Nam bush...would like to think it screwed with the congs' minds.

  • @dogleg97 During the 91 Campaign in Desert Storm OUR Navy Gun Boats would come up on Iraqi and Iranian Gun boats playing Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper". Damn I miss that. Those SOBs got the hell out of Dodge quick. I had to wear ear plugs and headsets to keep from blowing out my eardrums.

  • @CrimsonChampions Welcome home Son ! And thank you for your service.

  • @Incomplete6230 are you some malcontent who couldn't cut it in the real world? what a pitiful creature you are..

  • one person needs some lovin'...great great song!!!

  • Thank God for that ! The original version, which you never hear on the radio anymore,

  • Indeed that Hammond does sound wicked with the Leslies screaming for dear life! First time I heard it I was blown away. I was convinced it was an America R&B band with somebody like Wilson Picket singing. Great number! The seldom come like that anymore. So fresh and spontaneous.

  • Best song ever !!!!!!!!

  • They are still playing gigs. I saw them last year in Germany and they were exactly as good as you would like a group to be after 44 years of practice. I don't know words good enough to describe the performance.

  • Great song !

  • Absolutely the best version ever of this great tune. We'd never heard an organ (a B3 at that!) sound so wicked. Nor a kid sound so great. A cool tune... a classic that will never get old. Thank you so much for posting... I've not heard this version for decades.

  • this is such a great dance song. can't sit still when i hear it!

    wailingpat44

  • B-3, nice and dirty!

  • D-3, nice and dirty!!

  • 45 years later, and I can't believe all this time I thought it was a Black group. Sorry, African American. Wow, I never knew.

  • sorry the 1 dislike was an error (not paying attention!!) - what's not to like?

  • And I think the familiar version included a piano, didn't it.

  • @cloudjia Yeah I love the organ in this! They seemed to use it alot in the 60's....This song always makes me think of the classic cars of this time! Chevy, Mopar, Fords..wooohoo! and my 72 Cutlass and 68 Pontiac..

  • Vietnammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • 1967, Yuma, Az, USMC, every weekend dancing with the Yuma Yummies at the bowling alley to this song. next stop Viet Nam. Good times and memories.

  • God, I was a kid and jumped all around the living room playing this to the MAX VOLUME on my parent HI FI!!!

  • They dont write them or preform them like that anymore

  • 1 dislike???? do not understand - still so fresh! will rap be fresh in 44 years?

  • #271

  • Hey! My head's a-spinning, and I'm floating to sound Too much is happening 'cause you're not around It's been a hard day, and nothing went too good I'm gonna relax like everybody should Hey! I feel so good everything is gettin' higher You better take some time out 'cause this place is on fire Better stop baby 'cause I have so much to do We made it, baby and it happend to you
  • That blasting Hammond sound! Hammond FTW!

  • Still one of the best songs you would ever hear on the radio. What a voice and he was only 16 at the time

  • Best version. Hammond B3 organ is an eargasm

  • @eldemasiado Agreed, B3 had such a coarse tone when played by someone who knew the range and versatility of the thing. Gives me goosebumps still after all these years. I'll be 60 end of this year and when I hear this song it shoots me back to high school in an instant. Good to know there are still people around who appreciate this.

  • @Flap999 Heck, I'm 34, and a B3 played like this gives me goosebumps every time.

  • I prefer U.S. version over this yawnfest.

  • @FLCLCBSC actually, I prefer this over the U.S. yawnfest.. An american myself, I still think that what they did to this song was horrible...

  • @jimihendrixtribute Right behind you, matey!

  • This was a really great song to dance to when I was in H.S. Needs more Cowbell..?

  • @555shortstop Try the U.S version, that's the one you're probably more familiar with.

  • try HIGH TIME BABY.. its a b side give it some lovin coz its fab

  • the 2nd version much better

  • Best version! Thanks!

  • Gimme some Lovin...Yeah!!!

    Thanks so much!

  • Love this version-glad I found it here-it highlights Stevie's voice. thanks!

  • La voz de Stevie Winwood, y las bases hacen que vibre cada célula de mi cuerpo, inigualable, y a sentir y bailar

  • While I prefer the USA mix, this version is cool because Steve's vocals and organ is mixed louder. It sounds like it has a different second verse.

  • Sounds better without all the stupid gimmicks in the US version. Cowbell, Faw!

  • Man your posts are f**kin' me up - Christ life is good!!!!

  • This is my favorite song beats a lot of the crap they play now a days... Plus showed in Days Of Thunder...my favorite movie... What's not to like?

  • pure class mod tune. timeless classic. best version EVER !!! dig it the most...

  • This is my favourite version of a truly magnificent song.

  • I prefer the version with the singers going "gimme some lovin'" in between. This version sounds a bit naked and soul-less.

  • I Have A New Zealand Fontana Pressing Of This!

It Has Exactly The Same Version! This Version Is The First One I Ever Heard & It Sound Much Better!

  • Does sound a might different but it's really good.

  • Featured here is the original UK single mix on Fontana without the cowbell, handclaps and background vocals prevalent on the American United Artists single.

  • @SeanElGatoTelevision i think you are thinking about I'm a Man that has all the percussion at the beginning, but this version of Gimme Some Lovin is slightly different from the album version.

  • @SeanElGatoTelevision - You forgot the piano and maracas that American UA added on.
