Versailles is called Visual Kei too, but they are wearing baroque stuff or look at old Malice Mizer. it has nothing to do with Gothic. Scenes like Visual Kei and Lolita wear foundet in the 80s, as protest to the conserbative and stirct Japan. Visual Kei just means Freedom in appearance.

LNJCT is actually correct. Technically, you can't say you're "listening" to visual kei. I mean, you CAN, and anyone who listens to J-Rock would know what you're talking about, but you'd be wrong. There is no such thing as "Visual Kei Metal" Don't believe me? Hizaki of Versailles himself said in their last interview as an indies band in Cure Magazine that visual kei is an expression/art form of an artist in JRock. That's not word for word, but it's along those lines, if memory serves me well ^_^"

I don't call Mexican rock "M-Rock" or something. It's rock. Visual kei is a movement in the music scene of Japan, so I consider it a genre to a certain extent, but it's an aesthetic look that ties them (and their sub-genres) together, not a musical tie. On the other hand J-rock is not a movement in Japan. It's just Rock
