I need to post my sleeper it is a 1968 Chrysler Imperial with a 426 Hemi my Dad had installed into it at the dealer back in 1970 to pull his Airstreem and carry all of us in comfort and now it is mine rust and all but still running. I have one big problem it keeps blowing the oil ring off the oil filter no matter how tight I tighten it ????? Can anyone advise me?

@yumyumsashimi This is such an old post that it might be useless, but I had this happen with a 318 when I put on an oil pump I had sitting around for years and the pressure relief valve had rusted. I put on a test guage and it read over 300 PSI!! If the hemi has been parked for years (you mention rust), this could be the problem. The B/RB/Hemi oil pump is external at the front of the engine, so is (relatively) easy to replace. Could also be plugged oil gallery passages, but that's less likely.

Even back in the '70s Mopar had a solid 8.75 rear axel that actually came in 426 hemi cars (when equipped w/ auto tranny's)

No Hemi car ever came with an 8 3/4 axle. They used the 9 3/4 Dana 60. There was no Hemi after 71 and the 3/4 axle was gone after 72 replaced by the 8 1/4 which was actually a stronger axle since it did not have the housing flex that destroyed axle splines, bearings and caps.
