she looks so beautiful when she comes out and sways by the piano like she is one with it and then belts out her beautiful voice, she has changed my life since i was 22 years old and heard her for the first time.she makes you feel emotions that are deep down hidden in yourself
@samimiabjeez She helped me get through eight of the toughest, darkest months of my life. Goin through a nasty divorice and he would allow me ZERO contact with our five and ten yr. old daughters.. It was just a way to hurt me,and boy did it,but that is over now thank You my angels teachers and guides Tori for sure included. We actually have daughters the same age and she suffered so much before she had her little girl.Anyway she brings me strength every day when I think of her songs and her life..
This is my favorite tori song from Little Earthquakes ~ so powerful ~ has anyone here had a breakup so devastating to your soul that it sent you to - "the BLACK of the BLACKEST OCEANS" xo
@glitterdust40 Actually yes i have had one that i'm still trying to get through after 10 years.
and i'm still in the dark waters so to speak, and these things just don't happen to women.
i can vouch for that.my ex got me started on this music and even to this day i have every one of tori's albums, but above all this is one of my most favorite songs from her of all time.
She's referring to Neil Gaimens the sandman graphic novel the dream king is the character dream and the endless are his siblings read it , its AWESOME!!!
I've pitched a tent on BOTH sides of the fence, possible GOD/DEVIL, and have come to realize that shit happens and although sometimes there are occurances beyond your control, it's ultimately up to... YOU! Can't curse GOD without acknowledging Devil. I acknowledge... Me. Have a nice day!
i think its common for people who have had tragedy or loss in their lives to question their beliefs in god, sometimes they realize that they do believe in god and sometimes they move onto believe more in their own capabilities to overcome these things than believe in a deity that hasn't protected them, as for a pact with the devil dont be ridiculous we are all only human and if we cant get god to protect us or give us something we desperately need, how would we ever expect the devil too,
It is my understanding that Tori Amos made a pact with the Devil, and that is how she became famous. Does anybody know if this is true? I know that she has publicly acknowledged using voodoo dolls. So I think it’s reasonably safe to assume that she did make a pact with the Devil. And to my knowledge, pacts with the Devil are non-voidable. So if she made a pact with the Devil, the contract is still in effect, no?
@dmh497 Tori has been talented since was 2 1/2 years old. She has been playing piano since then. She didn't need to make a pact with the Devil. She was already an Angelic performer when she was born. Whoever started that rumor is an uninformed idiot!! Someone as talented as Tori Amos doesn't need a pact. Tori is a healer and is gifted. No worries for Tori Amos. She lives in the Light of God. :0)
I thought this song was written about Eric, her former partner/collborator and boyfriend. They were togther forever and this album was about the break up...yes?
Tori is one of the few REAL artists left on this earth today. She makes me believe that this cruel, cold world can be also magical and beautiful. She brings happiness and hope. Tori, you are out Angel. We love you.
This song reminds me of when a fly dies in your Ice Cream and you feel so bad eating it but you feel in away your kind of celebrating its life by living your own.
In an interview, she stated the meaning of this song was about a child she had miscarried years before...sad, mysterious and beautiful. Just as she is
god its so nice to see that there actually is intelectual music in the usa..its easy to forget with all these pop music and hip hop and commercial rock bands...its a miracle that a true artist can be famous in this day and age
The story in this song becomes clear once you can visualize what it is like to have your tear in someone's hand. But if it wasn't for the fantastic piano pushing and grinding/soaring relentlessly or the Amos vocal's here I don't think I would like this tune as much as...I do.

Tori Amos was, in fact, born and raised on Staten Island. Born Tori-Marie Amoza to Italian-American parents, she was enrolled at the age of 7 into the Staten Island Academy of Music and Exotic Dancing, where she learned burlesque piano and the fine art of being a slut. Graduating at the top of her class, she recorded her first album "Y Kant Tori Play With Herself" with a band composed entirely of local prostitutes. Her live shows still involve the use of exclusive Staten Island made sex toys.
'Tear in your hand' is one of the finest songs that I have ever heard. I bet it's relatively underrated from the album because it's not quite as raw or fraught sounding as some other songs on there. The hurt of the lyrics contrasted with the sweetness of the tune. 'I don't believe you're leaving cos me and Charles Manson like the same ice cream' is a brilliant line.
I think this woman's music is absolutely amazing. My sister (God bless her) makes fun of me and my music, but she does not know what I know....I know GREAT music. Tori is my favorite and don;t forget the band. They all of that as well. Thanks for the music Ms. Myra Ellen.....
Always one of my fave songs to hear Tori perform live. I've seen her several times perform this one. I love the live improv/jam of this song you don't get to hear on the record.
Tori is a brilliant and beautiful artist.. for men who can't appreciate her, well then, are they truly men? Not any man I would want in my world.. If you need me, me and Neil will be hanging out with the dream king!
Just so you know, Gallion, I didn't say it was a sign of femininity, not that there is anything wrong with that, I just said that it means men who are not gay who listen to Tori are probably more apt to see a female perspective than others.
I think also, that Qrstance has some serious man hating issues going on and I never said anything about gay people being offensive or that there was anything wrong with being gay!! And I find it offensive your generalisation of men, it stinks.
@ Qrstnce: When did I say there was anything wrong with being gay? I don't think that at all and am worried about why you would think that? Have to agree with the poster befor me. i love all music from thrash metal to classical, and whenever i want to relax and unwind in an evening, its not something like Canibal Corpse i put on, i would say 8 out of 10 times its Tori Amos. She is amazingly talented and has such an unmistakable voice to match what she plays. Tori Amos is genious. Gallion29 you have gorgeous taste in music. I remember going to my first Amos show back in the mid 1990's. I don't believe I ever missed a show when she came back home to Maryland. I got called a pansy blah de blah blah blah. I look back and ummmm...well Ms. Amos has done a bang up job. I can't wait to see her again. REAL MEN DO LISTEN TO TORI AMOS. ) I love the fact that Tori doesn't have to have" the hot #1" song to have a sold out venue. Thank the gods for Ms. Amos) E.
This song, for me, says much about the feeling of a woman in a relationship which has ended, when the man involved has given an innocuous reason to end the relationship and she can't really understand why he has convinced himself that another woman has better qualities than she had already within her. And just his pain of missing and the right way to express this, was enough to unlock her. Maybe I'm just dead wrong but that;s the way I interpret this..
Maybe she just pieces of me you've never seen oh man I listened to this during a breakup It still makes me remember that time . what a great cry song . I wish my boyfriend listened to her .Girls love that Stuff
I agree with Gallion. You don't have to be gay to listen to Tori, it just shows a man who is sensitive, open minded, and who cares enough to see the female perspective on life!! You go Gallion!! :)
...God I want her so bad. I grew up with her music, I'm pretty sure watching her helped me realize I was a lesbian! Haha! She's amazing. Amazingly talented, beautiful, and just... breathtaking.
Yes, that's right! I always fall in love with her and her music. Such a goddess. And because of her I think I learned very much about the feelings and the spirit of women. And that's a good thing. Whoever says that anything about that isn't manlikely is just a dumb retard.

So much love and respect for my Tori. This woman not only writes such honest, symbolic lyrics, but she composes her music!!! On top of it all, that incredible voice.
yes Gallion i do agree. I think any cool open creative minds are attracted to Tori, I don't think your gender matters. People who say different can have there opinions I just wish they would keep them to themselves. :0)
One thing I love about this video is how into it the audience members are. Beautiful to see the affect she has on others, and to know that I'm not the only one.
Tori is just amazing. From 1992 - 2009 she has made 11 fabulous albums. Just imagine where she'll take us in the new decade. The Light Princess here we come!
@TearInTheirHands Yeah, can't wait for that. I'm from South America though. The CD is as much as we're gonna get, hahaha, the play...we shall not even think about it.
I have been a fan of Tori's for a very long time. If you really pay attention to her lyrics the nonsense starts to make sense. She speaks from her heart and life experince. No matter whether you " get" her or not, the beauty of her voice and musical talent are an absolute joy to listen to. Other songs I enjoy are Marianne and Time. Just two out of so very many.
She makes me feel stupid for never learning the piano.. Stunning artist, and a whole lot of heart in that music. I wish I had gotten more into her music earlier. She's wonderful. :)
Wow! Great song. Brilliant poetry and lyrics. I never heard of Tori before today, and just listened to a few of her songs before this one and just couldn't get the meanings behind the lyrics in her other songs. Too deep for my dumbass I guess, but the music is so beautiful on the other songs, too; but I kept wondering WTF is she saying in the lyrics? Then when I heard this song, it just moved me. The lyrics and sound were absolutely great and it totally connected. 10/10!
I always liked Tori's music. Even though it can be wierd at times. She is something different from main stream Pop music. Plus she is a real musician ! Alot of pop stars, it's just the way your packaged. They can barely play an instument and a producer in a million dollar studio makes there weak singing voice sound good. Tori's creativity is the real deal .
I heard Tori playing winter on rte one night in the early nineties and fell in love with her music. She is my favourite female artist. I'm male by the way
I love her too. She's unique. I don't think there is nothing wrong about listening this kind of music. I don't think we are made of stone. To be in touch with your feelings is part of been human. hello!
well said Gallion. I love the fuck out of this woman. I have all of her music, and she is my very favorite female artist. Her rsw rtalent is nearly immeasurable, and other artists that sing and play the piano as she does will alway have someone to look up to.She has giveen me goosebumps more times than I can count. sadly I have never seen this woman perform live and doing so I am sure would be one of the most memorable experiences of my life
This album was a life saver for me in my early 20's.I couldn't stop playing it over and over.Must get it on CD now! Tori is so tallented and unusual and she don't give a damn about it.Love her.
I'm a guy and when I first heard this song I couldn't stop listening to it for a while.. fuck all the macho bullshit, a good song is a good song. And anyone who has listened to Tori knows she is a good singer/songwriter and she's hot as hell also
Profoundly one of the best song writers and performers next to Joni Mitchell. I love Tori! I can't make it through this album, Little Earthquakes without crying. Amazing! Glad you guys enjoy it!!!!
I have to say, I have not been a fan of Tori Amos for the last 15 years - the last year or so, it finally dawned on me how much talent she has. She is fucking amazing.
mrbrianmccarthy's comment. Now I'll only listen to music with lots of chords... HAHAHA! YEAH RIGHT!! As I told you before, I AM a shemale, and I really enoy it since I can masturbate both my cunt and my cock to my favourite Tori vids. Which you envy, since you only have one genital. Hahaha. See you, pal, and I appreciate your comments all the same 'cause like you I think we're all free to express whatever we like, so don't get me wrong. Have a nice day!

I agree with Gallion. You don't have to be gay to listen to Tori, it just shows a man who is sensitive, open minded, and who cares enough to see the female perspective on life!! You go Gallion!! :)

@MayweedMole What`s wrong with being gay? Why is that offensive?

Yes, that's right! I always fall in love with her and her music. Such a goddess. And because of her I think I learned very much about the feelings and the spirit of women. And that's a good thing. Whoever says that anything about that isn't manlikely is just a dumb retard.

So much love and respect for my Tori. This woman not only writes such honest, symbolic lyrics, but she composes her music!!! On top of it all, that incredible voice.

I am male ,same age as Tori , i am attracted to Tori Amos, both her music and her in general.
I think " anyone " who can appreciate perfect pitch will like Tori for her music.
Her music can put me in a peaceful trance, love it.
Anyone who has been blessed with that much artistic ability is just out of this world.

yes Gallion i do agree. I think any cool open creative minds are attracted to Tori, I don't think your gender matters. People who say different can have there opinions I just wish they would keep them to themselves. :0)

No shame about it, I can also listen AC/DC.

My life's forever changed because of
mrbrianmccarthy's comment.
