I have a 78 with a 360 engine, a 52K mile original with only one owner before me. I did an 8000 mile tour all over the western states many years ago and it got 26mpg on the highway if you kept it around 60mph. Fantastic cars, completely unlike the plastic computer crap of today.
@jfrey1 Not quite that bad, assuming it is original equipment: mine does 16/10 pretty easily. I have a Magnum with a 360/4V that will cruise at over 20 mpg. All depends how ya drive.
@ShoobyBugger Yeah i've heard a few people say that their 400 w/ 2bbl gets around 20 mpg on the highway. The funny thing is, the 400 has the biggest bore of any production mopar engine, ever, but it also can be made to get really good mileage.
I almost bought a 77 Plymouth Sport Fury, on the same platform. Cold A/C, working 8-track [!], and 47000 miles! It had a nice set of headers, and sounded a lot like this. Unfortunately I got fired 2 weeks after I first saw it and by the time I could afford it again it was long gone...
I owned a late 76 (1977 grill). It to had the 400, 727 torqueflite. It ran like a raped ape and looked great. My ex-bag ran it into a truck after our divorce, what a waste of machinery.....
which commercial does Ricardo say that in? From what I understand that was in a saturday night live parody. In the commercial everybody links to he says "Soft corinthian leather"
I've had too many to count. A 77 with a 440 (swapped), a 78 with T-tops and a 400-4, and a high winding 318 in a 76, and 3 or 4 76's with the 360-2.
My new project is a 76 with 400-4 and blue/blue almost like this one here. The computer has been taken out and changed to electronic ign. And has glasspacks. I've got a 286 cam to put in it and a Street Dominator intake and looking for headers for it. Looking to put 3.55:1 gears and a locker in it for some fun.
nice as shit dude!! i had an 80 myself until about 3 months ago when the wiring went up and i was FORCED to sell it. i had her for 3 years, and you better fuckin belive i cried when i saw her go! i loved that car! i only had the slant six in mine though
Beautiful car! Boy, that engine sound brings back some memories - in the early '90s I owned several Mopars of similar vintage myself ('76 Charger SE, '76 Charger Sport, '77 Cordoba, '79 Cordoba). Had a lot of fun with them - they're great cars. Someday I'll get another!
i had a 77 in the late 90s small block the guy i bought it from set up the suspension so it looked pretty cool whirh the front end lowered and cool wheels but it was a 360 2bbl but it had dual exhaust and was still faster than the new four bangers
nice check out my doba on cherry poppers now . then flowsmaster soon

Best looking Chrysler from that era by far. It took it's styling cues straight from the more popular Monte Carlo.

The monte carlo looked good in 75 wht the two round headlights. But it looked stupid with the dual square ones. Then the cordoba had the advantage.

I think in the Saturday Night Live "commercial" he said it had "doors made of fine Corinthian cardboard."
That's how I remember it. It must be on video somewhere.
