...maybe too smooth and somewhat impersonal, I would want Blechacz to show more of himself (what would that mean?) in this already impersonal and bombastic movement...
To achieve this level of interpretation, not just only a technical brilliance and virtuosity, but also the pianist has to have Chopin in his own heart. Rafal Congratulations ...!!!
@BalladeNumber1Opus23 I think it's down to individual preference. Blechacz is absolutely my fevorite pianist. I feel the depth of this sonata from his interpretation which I can't feel from any other pianists. Imagine the different when you watch 3D and 2D movie... that's how i feel.
...I am mostly picking up the "callous Blechacz" sound...it is too dry and mechanical in a movement that is too mechanical anyway...and his technique in not up to it anyway...for a winner of the Ch.Comp. not to have enough technique?...yes, here you are...
@Marcelo721 I know friend you' re right =) love the left hand in 3:36 very difficult =S when I play this movement ended crying !!! I love this Chopin sonata !!!
@wnsbug why would you say that? it should make you want to be better and get to his level. dont ever get discouraged because someone is better than you.
@anonymousQ45 yea i wrote this a while back, i dont feel this way anymore. but i'm more confident with other pieces, just not this, i'll give the ownership to rafal :)
@d4ni3lschi4v0 I agree with you! That is one of the most sublime moments of this movement, and where Rafal lee excellent transition to become the main theme, accompanied by powerful arpeggios (6x2). Although all the work is interpreted notably, other points cusps could be: Initially, between 00:30 and 00:40, in 2:45, in 3:10, where the chromatic give way to a furious descending arpeggio (must be one of the best), and the final Staccato, at the 05:00 What more could you want?
Thank you for posting this beautiful video. Could you please post the rest of the sonata up? I would really really appreciate it (I've been trying to find the DVD of Blechacz's competition performances everywhere but I couldn't). Thanks so much again!
This looks like a movie of hero not a competition!!!
The hero is Mr. Blechacz . he overcomes every hardships and finally wins!!
My tears come out at 4:29 when I first saw this 3 months ago by DVD..
But that DVD just includes sonata and concerto..
Anyway It's interesting fact that this video is much funnier than watching lady gaga or other pop stars dancing.. and more interesting is that their videos are watched by ten millions of people..-_-
doesn't this resemble one of his third or fourth scherzos?correct me if i'm wrong...

his rubatos are just PERFECT. more than Chopin himself probably could've hoped for.

Loved the way he played, very text-book style and flawless. Sometimes I get impressed by the music itself not the pianist's interpretation...

I think the 4th movement of this sonata is called Finale - Presto non tanto, not really a Rondo.
