Hey just one question since you got the ones with the keys. can the latch be remove if you just take the bolts of the sides, even if the latch is lock
Not really. The red bolt is still held inside the whole assembly. You might be able to wiggle, shave and break the carbon fiber to get it out. But the hood pins are a safety element for the carbon fiber, not a theft deterrent/countermeasure.
ok i'm sure you've been grilled for painting it white a million times already, but since you just went ahead and just sprayed it white... i'm curious as to how the paint is holding out 2 years later?
@BigMilan Its holding out quite well, thou I wish I used a glossy coat. From a distance it looks like all the same color but up close you can tell its a spray paint job.
some people buy carbon hoods for the look of the carbon weave itself. others buy it to shed weight. i know lots of people who have painted theres. if i get one imma leave it bare carbon because im using it for eye candy only. what brand carbon hood are good for the cheaper companies? seibon vis? im nervous bout it fitting like shit for a 2006 5 series. both vis and seibon have one for 700
i have a carbon fiber hood on my jetta and i only painted it from the wideness of the headlight back not the whole thing. it kinda looks dumb but i understand about sleepers
also where exactly are these mounted? can you show a pic of the engine and where its mounted. i'm not really familiar w car anatomy. its that im trying to fix my car myself or i just have to get rid or it bc the damage is too expensive to pay a mechanic? thanks for the help
The mounting all depends on each car's body Its best to mount it to the cross member that your radiator is a part of, but again, its unique to each car.
so my car was just in an accident where the hood got kind of crumbled, but the losing latch still works. the original latch on its own wont be sufficient bc the metal on the hood of the car got bent out of shape. a replacement hood is going to cost $200+ and i was thinking that maybe i can use this type of pin instead. my plan was to bank to hood so its flat again and use these as secondary locks. does that make sense? also please see my next message
Why make an aftermarket carbonfiber hood look like a stock hood? You should have got a squirter nozzle relocation kit and left the hood unpainted.

Should have not painted it, carbonfiber is expensive, show it off don't hide it

To anybody who has used either:
Which do you think looks cleaner on a car / you wouldn't notice unless you look close, the AeroCatch flush or plus flush?

1 painting carbon fiber is kinda stupid
2 why would you keep the factory hood latch if you have pins? that just seems retarded to me
