Best book I've ever read, lost track as to how many times. I can't imagine a movie being possible due to the size and scope of the story. However, the subject is so engaging to me, any effort in the part of film is appreciated by me.

I would love to see a film based on The Forgotten Soldier if only they avoided hammering in any silly political message and if they don't transform it into another cheesy anti-war film. Admittedly reading The Forgotten Soldier doesn't necessarily make the reader enthusiastic for war, it wasn't exactly "anti-war" either.

Paul Verhoeven is possibly going to direct a full feature, Hollywood funded, movie based on this book!

To do the book justice the movie would have to be six hours long, in my opinion. Or it would have to be done in ten parts like, "Band of Brothers."

The battle for Belgorad or the survival at Memel would be enough for a whole movie. We will have to wait and see.

I read the book so many times I forget how many times I have read it; five times for sure, maybe seven. Russia was the war. Everything else was just a side show.
