I understand that people prefer Android because it's not as restricted as iOS and has a lot of customization and freedom. What I don't understand is the price argument. If you buy a high-end smart phone via network provider, it's always gonna be $200+. The iPhone is no more expensive than any of these latest-and-greatest Android phones.
i don't have an iphone but have ipod touch which is the same OS... and just to let everyone know, i have $300 in "big name" apps that i got for free, i have widgets, i can create custom themes, as a matter of fact; if i wanted to, i could change how my entire device even operates. i can make it run android if i wanted to. you know why? its JAILBROKEN. i can do everything android can and more. it took me 10 min to jailbreak. jailbroken ios beats android anyday.

But what you are doing in the video is comparing the hardware you've got to the iphone which is pretty unfair for the phone considering it's price compared to the iphone . Electronics aren't magic , iPhones aren't made from some secret wizardry book , so you should go and get a phone with the same hardware specs as your iPhone . And once you get the same hardware specs , you can truly compare Android and iOS .
if android would only allow their hardware developers to only make certain screen sizes (so software developers know what screen size they're developing for) android will completely dominate iOS

Android. HTC Evo Shift 4G. Love android 2.2, it's smooth, apps are great, and I much prefer the openness of Android VS the Closed system that Apple has. I prefer android but i have to be honost my HTD Desire HD has shitty battery life. So yeah its awesome but it wont last the whole day most of the time :S not sure if thats any different with the Iphone 4.....

What I mean is that it drops so many calls it actually forces me to "Stand still " when I make or receive a call. When I'm in my Car I can't use it totally hands free. Voice commands don't work through the Bluetooth device.
Load a web page with flash on both phones!!! Try using your iphone totally hands free with bluetooth voice commands... OH right you can't. And what about making a phone call.. The iPhone doesn't work as a phone most of the time.
I had to choose between an IPhone4, HTC Evo 4G, Samsung Epic 4G and HTC myTouch 4G. Watched and read reviews, 1v1 phone battles on all 4 phones and myTouch 4G came out on top every time. It's processor and 768 MG Ram are unmatched and I much prefere android os over windows or apple.

go look at any video of a current Android (2.2) phone against an iPhone 4 in scrolling. there is no way you can say its choppy mate. i find that only using popular apps are recommended (apps which have been downloaded and reviewed by the community many times over) there's your problem sorted.
I hate Android because it has such a laggy web experience. I hate Android because its open source means more useless apps and also no organization. I like Android because it has open source and can put whatever skins or emulators on it. I hate iOS because I feel kind of restricted. I like iOS because the closed-source means not as much useless apps. I like iOS because it has a smooth web experience.
Ultimately, both OS's have flaws, but I do gear more toward the iOS because it has all i need.

Its not just some useless apps, there is a lot of useless apps because its not regulated by google as itunes does. That is the downside of open source. Too many useless apps are put into the market because there is nothing to regulate them. Some can even screw up your device.
Not all of the android apps are on the android market btw, that is what I mean by no organization.
I love the iphone because of how smooth it is to use compared to most android phones, android tends to be more laggy. However the newer more recent android phones are pretty awesome becuz they have become smoother and if you want both os's on one device u can use iphodroid or the idroid project to put android os on the iphone!

I tested it on my friends' phones, on store models, and I did not experience any of the problem, and I pressed my fingers HARD! And you may argue that ATT has a horrible network, and that may be true. IDK since I don't live in the U.S. Most other countries beside the U.S. sell the iPhone 4 unlocked so ATT is really not a problem for them :) Your problem maybe an ATT problem, not an iPhone problem :)
i like the function of the android apps, they are more personal! iphone is simple click into app, on android its apps are different and you can operate from the home screen instead of click and click into apps! iphone is just apps, apps apps thats all that it has, the android does it better that apple!
Android offers better functionality but iPhone offers better smoothness/elegance. Also i get force closes on android sometimes but i never got force closes on iPhone. I think iPhone os is just a more stable os than android.

I'd have to go with Android. Developers can do a lot more with it. Not to mention, it can be ran on a wide variety of phones... Really the only big advantage that apple has over google in the phone world right now is the Market. Apple has a lot more apps... Well and typing is a bit easier on the iphone. Android is still a bit sluggish, until Froyo is OTA. Apple has the people right now, but with the potential of Android, I think it's phone OS of the future.
I own a droid and I agree with everything you said in this video. Quality wise the droid is right up there with the iPhone. If Verizon offered the iPhone I would have got it. The Droid was the best phone they had at the time.

Android all the way!!! :-) I receive multiple email account Gmail, Email, etc. I get free turn by turn voice street direction navigation, you can type text using voice, it can text message, There are many many free apps that are actually free apps and not just samples or trials. You can upgrade the memory card from 16gigs to 32gigs, try that on a Iphone and you will have to go buy a new phone. You can also tether the Droid to a lap top for anywhere internet browsing. Droid is worth 10X more.

Currently on an iPhone, just upgraded when VZ got it.
iPhone - I enjoy the GUI more, but not as functional.
Android - Multitasking is much better and this is what I miss most - also the notification bar kills iPhone notifications.

IPhone 4 , I'm living it. Android still havin problems rolling the screen and tapping icons.
BUt is still good if you cannot buy an Iphone.

I had to choose between an IPhone4, HTC Evo 4G, Samsung Epic 4G and HTC myTouch 4G. Watched and read reviews, 1v1 phone battles on all 4 phones and myTouch 4G came out on top every time. It's processor and 768 MG Ram are unmatched and I much prefere android os over windows or apple.

go look at any video of a current Android (2.2) phone against an iPhone 4 in scrolling. there is no way you can say its choppy mate. i find that only using popular apps are recommended (apps which have been downloaded and reviewed by the community many times over) there's your problem sorted.

I hate Android because it has such a laggy web experience. I hate Android because its open source means more useless apps and also no organization. I like Android because it has open source and can put whatever skins or emulators on it. I hate iOS because I feel kind of restricted. I like iOS because the closed-source means not as much useless apps. I like iOS because it has a smooth web experience.
Ultimately, both OS's have flaws, but I do gear more toward the iOS because it has all i need.

Its not just some useless apps, there is a lot of useless apps because its not regulated by google as itunes does. That is the downside of open source. Too many useless apps are put into the market because there is nothing to regulate them. Some can even screw up your device.
Not all of the android apps are on the android market btw, that is what I mean by no organization.

I love the iphone because of how smooth it is to use compared to most android phones, android tends to be more laggy. However the newer more recent android phones are pretty awesome becuz they have become smoother and if you want both os's on one device u can use iphodroid or the idroid project to put android os on the iphone!

They use it because they like it and they don't care about YOUR opinion on the style of their life, in this case the OS they are using. And quite frankly no one likes an irrational hater. Everyone breaks their products at some point, and so they buy a new one. That does not have anything to do with Apple

@Haskeo The only way the Evo 4G is faster than the iPhone 4 is by 4G speeds. 4G is not available in most parts of the U.S. and the rest of the world... And just because a video or a comparison shows one device is more functional for them it does not mean it is more functional for someone else. You may hate fanboy, but I hate irrational haters. Yes and I hate haters who hate on BlackBerry, Android, iOS, WebOS...

@newmacboy how am i hating? i just feel the evo better than the iphone 4 and in multiple comparisons it showed that apps open faster and web pages load faster than on the iphone and those weren't done with using the 4g network. and os wise android is openmarket and allows many third party companies to develop apps for them while apple develops their own. just because one devise is superior than the other makes me a hatin fanboy? what kind of crap logic is that?

@Haskeo And you may think the EVO may be superior then the iPhone 4, but that does not mean it is more functional/superior for everyone. You may argue 4G speeds on the EVO, however A LOT of people don't have access to 4G networks. You may say Android is a better OS, it may be better for you, but for someone who is looking for simplicity, and great UI and/or they are more familiar with iOS, iOS is certainly more superior for THEM. But, to some other people like u the EVO may be the better choice.

@Coliekokker OK... But most people don't have the iPhone 4 antenna-gate problem. I tested it on my friends' phones, on store models, and I did not experience any of the problem, and I pressed my fingers HARD! And you may argue that ATT has a horrible network, and that may be true. IDK since I don't live in the U.S. Most other countries beside the U.S. sell the iPhone 4 unlocked so ATT is really not a problem for them :) Your problem maybe an ATT problem, not an iPhone problem :)

Android offers better functionality but iPhone offers better smoothness/elegance. Also i get force closes on android sometimes but i never got force closes on iPhone. I think iPhone os is just a more stable os than android.

android is fairly new just wait a year or two android will be so advanced, with the augmented reality apps and such. in my opinion android is a way better os, why?
1. available on almost every service provider, you don't have to buy at&t just to have a iphone.
2. more customizable to you, you can get custom battery covers and apps are more customizable.
there are probably more reasons but i'm kind of new to android and so far thats what i think.

The reviewer clearly does not write mobile applications. I develop for iOS, android and Blackberry. Of the three platforms iOS is by far the most primitive and clunky. iOS does have a slick UI but you can get very close using the new Android devices. Also, if you are an Enterprise user the iOS phones are not fit for purpose. I run a 3GS and an HTC Desire side by side and I keep finding it is easier and quicker to accomplish what I need to do on my Android phone. I do like the iPhone and it is a

I have a droid X running 2.1 and absolutely love it. Also, get LauncherPro and use that with your phone (unless you're running HTC's sense) because it blows the stock Motoblurish crap on the Droid X out of the water. Also, I own an iPod touch running iOS4 and can definitively state that I prefer the Android OS completely and I own a MacBook. Plus, who can complain with the device list for android. A year ago I never dreamed of having an 8mp camera with HD video recording on my phone. Amazing...

You have to chose, like windows VS Mac OS between exclusivity or broadness, I prefer whichever is faster and most suited to my needs, iOS but I respect the choice of others to go for open-ness

I'd have to go with Android. Developers can do a lot more with it. Not to mention, it can be ran on a wide variety of phones... Really the only big advantage that apple has over google in the phone world right now is the Market. Apple has a lot more apps... Well and typing is a bit easier on the iphone. Android is still a bit sluggish, until Froyo is OTA. Apple has the people right now, but with the potential of Android, I think it's phone OS of the future.

I own a droid and I agree with everything you said in this video. Quality wise the droid is right up there with the iPhone. If Verizon offered the iPhone I would have got it. The Droid was the best phone they had at the time.

Android all the way!!! :-) I receive multiple email account Gmail, Email, etc. I get free turn by turn voice street direction navigation, you can type text using voice, it can text message, There are many many free apps that are actually free apps and not just samples or trials. You can upgrade the memory card from 16gigs to 32gigs, try that on a Iphone and you will have to go buy a new phone. You can also tether the Droid to a lap top for anywhere internet browsing. Droid is worth 10X more.
