  • It's funny how the Lions can't barely make the playoffs in 44 years, and the Panthers won it all so quickly. Love the uniforms, sweet logo

  • I wish the USFL would have lasted. I would have supported it.

  • The panthers uniforms were so original same goes with the bulls outlaws and wranglers. I really miss the teams of the usfl because they really did look NFL calibre and would have fit in so well, it's a tragedy because it was really time for new blood and the merge with the nfl became a miscarriage.

  • I was at this game. I remember getting down real close to the Panthers bench and taking a pictures with my Disk camera. I actually was taking a shot of AC when he turned around and waved as I snapped. I'll have to find that photo...it was hilarious. Great game too. Geez, I miss that league

  • Go Blue AC! [LATER RICH]

  • The Michigan Panthers always had the best uniforms and helmet logo..

  • A.C. was elegant.

  • Last time Michigan had a pro football champion. The Lions were on their 20th year of rebuilding at that time and are still in that process.

  • usflguy83:

Please post any footage you have of the end-of-game riot.

  • The Michigan Panthers won the first championship for the state of Michigan since the Tigers won in '68. It was a cool thing to watch, I remember it well.

  • @Paulmancieri67: Just wanted to say thank you for the good laugh when you say the Stars could have competed in the NFL.That's great stuff, man!

  • @xxmickeyzeroxx Forgive me, but I happen to also believe the Stars and the Panthers could have competed fairly well in the NFL. Quite a few players that played in the USFL went on to become All-Pros in the NFL. They were definitely better than the Eagles and Lions, respectively, at the time. Bobby Hebert, Anthony Carter (who set an NFL record for playoff rec yards against the 49ers in '87), Sam Mills, Irv Eatman, just to name a few. Could mention many others, but not enough space here.

  • Thanks for posting...I remember that!!!

  • This play hurt! I was a Stars season ticket holder.

  • Anthony Carter Great WR in Any League.

  • I was watching this game, rooting hard for my Stars, when the power went out. I was about 15 years old. I found out Philly lost when the power came back on a few hours later. There was some serious talent on those Stars teams like Fusina, Bryant, Mills, Eatman, Landeta. Thought the USFL had carved out a nice niche, but killed itself by trying to move to the fall. The recent ESPN 30 for 30 film tells the story well.

  • @CharlieB1111

It was more Donald Trump than anything else. And the fact that Trump will never admit he was wrong makes me a douchbag. I heard there was supposed to be a new USFl starting soon, but I'm not sure that's going to happen anytime soon.

  • @quietriotfan1976 There is a press conference schedule in mid April 2011 to announce the teams in the new USFL. Right now The New USFL is schedule to start playing in 2012 with 12 teams and the season will start in March and end in July.

  • 8 years old, I was a Michigan Panthers fan who was visiting my grandparents in Denver, and I was there!!! Great times, one of the fond memories of my childhood.

  • im eager t o see how the new UFL will unfold

  • I got the Ball Anthony Carter made his touchdown. I was only 11 years old. My dad's friend got me out of there right away.

  • This was a great game. I remember it well. Summer of 83. It was the first time in my life the American League won the all star game and the first USFL championship. Good times.

  • Ah, but my Stars won the next 2. Stars were the best team in this league bar none.

  • I am not saying they weren't. I am only saying that this was a great game. The best of the three Championship games. You're right though....the Stars were a great team and I think could have competed in the NFL.

  • @Paulmancieri67 ,...Agree very much. Stars were a solid organization from it's players to coaches to GM's and owner. Would've held their own very well had they the chance to go head to head against an NFL(can u say overrated?) squad. Also take into consideration only 26 teams in the NFL at that time. I'd say a good 4-6 of the top USFL squads could've competed at avery high level. More then plenty of talent at that time to go the rounds....
