  • Pollacks reaction was out of Benton and Picasso and surrealism...Rauschenberg was a reaction from action painters and Abstract Expressionism.I think at that time Dial was buiding freight cars...Where did McEvilley gets his art history from a crackerjack box?

Dials good and all,but for gods sake..stop voodoo spinning art history, stop pooping on art history.Alot of what blues came frome belive it or not was slaves hearing oldworld Irish minstrels....black,white,its all grey now.

  • This is pretty slick though.Dail has management, its all about markteering....and the folk art world is slithering with them-the artist as well as the dealers.I'm sure this will generate alot of hype for old Dial and he needs it too,how much do his all ready been done stuff go for$

  • Rauschenberg,Pollack.I think thier influences were vastly elsewhere.A Documentary on racism in the arts.I think Basquiat, cashed in pretty good before he cashed out.I wonder why John Henry Toney is not in the Alabama Folk Art Show in Alabama right now.Dial is in there and doc refers to the negativity of the word Folk? This isnt about racism, poverty etc.I'ts about not getting recognized, that has no boundries in the sticks.

Jacob Lawrence was not in the sticks.

  • This IS about racism. Using terms like "outsider art" and "folk art" are obviously alienating minority artists from mostly white art crowds who'd rather have SAKS 5th moms cuddling into MoMA together and chuckling about the newest Ralph Lauren collection. You're obviously stuck on that bullshit 60 minutes segment.
