Yes you are right. Jack and John talked on the phone about this song and how it was leaving the excesses of the 60s and 70s behind and Jack said, "I guess it's Cleanup Time, huh?" and that's what John titled the song.

CLARIFICATION:

He is right in the sense that "clean up" has to do with drugs. John, as of 1980, was not a user of heroin anymore, sticking mostly to cocaine, marijuana, and LSD. Yoko, however, was back on the brown sugar.

Thanks so much for posting this! This version is even more good fun than the final version! I never knew where the "tell those mothers how to do it"-line came from, but now I know! From listening to this, I also think John was a bit inspired by the "Fame" collaboration he did with Bowie, haha. For years, when I really have to clean the house, but I don't really feel about doing it, I put on "Cleanup Time", open the windows, let the air in and start cleaning.
