My Grandma is a retired school cook, my parents are about 40 now and my Grandma was cooking their school lunches when they were in grade school. She still cooks the same HOMEMADE rolls from the school...now the corndogs come in wrappers!

The new "healthy" food that my school has is shit. 2 years ago, 4 days a week we had Subway deliver club sandwiches. Not only were these relatively nutritious, but they would pass regulation screenings for food quality at a military prison. This new "health" food we have is shit. I would try to tell you what dishes we have, but it is all wet mush. Shepard's Pie, Pasta, Burritos, all around the consistency of cottage cheese. If you made me pick between those and dog food, its Alpo for me.

I also wanted to add that i cashier at jr high and high school lunch, and of the 70 kids that pass by me in jr high, i have maybe 4 or 5 kids who actually take anything off the salad bar. Mostly they just walk by me with a burger, fries and a milk. They skip the fruits and vegetables all together.

I've been looking forward to these changes for a while now. Though i don't think we will see the kind of changes we need to see. I've worked in school food service for 12 years now & all the frozen stuff in a bag that we just dump out and heat up, comes from the federal government. They ship it to us for free, we just pay the shipping, so i don't see the fed gov changing what they supply the schools with, but time will tell, won't it.

Personally i had respect for you before this video. school luches shouldnt be changed. there will always be the fat kid is every class and disgusting soy burgers aren't gonna change it. school lunches don't make kids fat. its there problem if there fat. they sit on the couch all day a play video games. most of them are genetically fat. so before you make an idiot of yourself imagine yourself as a kid again and think what you want then

Jamie Oliver tried this out in american schools. The local councils and parental groups were the ones who declined and he had a real issue with trying to convert them. In the end he failed sadly. But what he has done in the UK has changed school lunches for the better.

For the first time in all my life, they served REAL rolls at my school today. None of that bullshit you call "Whole Wheat" or "Healthy". The hawaiian haystack still needed some work, and the brownie could have been a little bit more moist, but I can't stand when they serve that bullshit stuff they call mexican food! Dry tortillas, replacing the meat and beans with dirt and rocks, and the sandwich line has that bullshit "Grilled" chicken sandwiches which aren't actually grilled, they're boiled!!!

I actually recently stopped buying lunches at school because of the food. Bringing a sandwich and water is much better than anything served there.
