@slightlybent47 ... After trying it out a few times I found out I could see the ball very well in either position so it worked out better than I figured. You are the first to notice that I could turn it around. Very good observation.........Donald
Great vid Donald. Interesting. I looked forward to seeing it in demonstration. Awesome how well it worked. Now machining and some welding skills are just what I need.
Hey Joanthan ... I do have something in mind but that's a little ways down the road. Imagine an Earthway planter mounted in a frame ... would sure make planting quick and easy......... Donald
Nice Job Donald. I have been a welder and a machinist for 20 years and have built alot of the attachments I have for my tractor. I made a reciever hitch for my tractor several years ago and the best thing about this kind of hitch is you don't have to get off the tractor to raise the trailer jack. Just back up raise the 3 point hitch and go. i'm sure this video we help alot of folks. Robert
Hey Robert ... spending a couple of hours on a project like this can save so much time and make things so much easier down the road. Wish I was better at fabricating and welding, just don't do it often enough to get any good at it.......... Donald
The shop is 40' x 60'. Saved up many years before I had enough to build it. Now I spend most of my day in there and love every minute of it. Even have an old frig to keep some beverages in.......... Donald
Nicely done Donald. I've been using just the ball on my draw bar for years, with no problem, but the old 9N is only pulling a a 5x10, single axle trailer. Your new set up looks a lot safer though. I may have to do the same. Thanks for the video.
This setup is mostly for moving trailers around without having to get off the tractor. Naturally if I were going any distance, would have to lock the ball and put the safety chains on. Maybe a hay ride this spring would be nice with the grandkids........ Donald
Thanks Buddy ... still need to put a small brace at the very top of the center link pieces. Maybe a 3 inch piece of black pipe would work........ Donald
Nice project. Very nice video too. Short and to the point and pretty nice video quality and audio.

Hi There
You were talking about extending the hitch out about a foot right?
Looks like the way you made the hitch you can flip it around either way and have it short or extended. Good job on the hitch!

you should also put a spot to attach the safety chains

@iloveboats1 ... the hitch will mostly be used to move trailers around the place. When doing that you don't even lock the ball...... Donald

You said that having that receiver on there will open the door to a lot of different attachments that you can buy or build...
You got somethin' in mind there?? Do you have some things up your sleeves that you plan on surprising us with??
Can't wait for the next video!!!!!!!

You make things look so easy in your videos. I'm always daunted by them when I'm faced with them. That and I don't have an inch of flat land. lol
SweetGumMinis 2 years ago
Most projects are real easy when you give them just a little thought. Flat land is good and bad, sometimes makes drainage a problem........... Donald
