  • do you know dashing and fastfaling?

  • @SSBBSword Yes, I know how to do them.

  • nice vid but melee target test ere much better

  • AWESOME

  • @dirk12345666 because you touch yourself at night

  • i like ur technique

  • this can really help people, i also got stage 4 with TL in 31:88 sec's or something like that xD

  • The times set for myself were near or lower than the challenge times ._.

  • my toon link target smash

    level 1 9:41

    level 2 12:12

    level 3 15:99

    level 4 23:67

    level 5 18:00

  • 1:32

    awesome

  • this is great 5/5

  • probably a very helpful vid for some people

  • this is terrible why is this even posted?

  • A very basic way to beat the challenges on the challenge board. You'll notice there's nothing here that requires much skill, so people who don't especially like target test can get the rewards.

  • @dirk12345666 It is made for help.... so shut up if u can do it better

  • Wow It took me like 20-30 tries to do the last three under the time limit :(

and you did it so easily and it looked relaxed as well :'(

    Well done though

  • How come when I beat target smash 1 it doesn't go to numnber 2. I beat it in like 13 sec with fox so.......

  • You can only select the Target Tests after you've played through them in Classic Mode. Each difficulty gives you a different set of Target Tests.

  • AH! Thanks.

  • I've beaten your time with toon link on every single level.

I just thought you should know...

  • The point of this video is to show how to achieve the challenge times in a way that anyone can do, not to show off records. (I've also gotten better at this game since the time I uploaded them.)

  • Vid or it didn't happen. Co-op doesn't count btw.

  • good trick on number 5 with the lazer sword thingy

  • I think you forgot:TOON LINK HAS OTHER PROJECTILES!!

    Boomerang FTW

  • I did this in such a way so that most of the characters can do the same thing. The video was meant for people who can't figure out how to break all the targets consistently within the time limit, so I played safely rather than quickly.

  • I gave you a 4/5.

I wouldn't expect your times to be on par with the WR holders, but you made some decisions that even an ameteur shouldn't. One example is grabbing the ledge at the end of level 3. You could have broken the target with 3 different projectiles or any aerial or up-b.

  • the level 2 time seems a bit unusual. ppl usually use the cracker launcher for the top left target instead of breaking it. its still a great vid for beginners tho! 5/5

  • I have a tough time turning around with the Cracker Launcher. I don't have much control over it, so it took me several tries. Eventually, I just hit the target directly, as I couldn't consistently turn the thing at will.

  • very good

  • MMM U COULD PLAY BETTER

  • ... this isn´t good ...

    you must practis

  • Did you even read the description?

  • The answer is... No, he did not. And from what I can see, he should read his English homeworks aswell. Anyways, Great vid for da nubz :D

  • sorry but the times ar'nt good.

  • You missed the point.

  • you took a very unusual way in #3...most ppl jump to the odd shooting-mechanism and throw the bomb to the double targets before working through the lower stage from left to right...but u made it obvious that there are several ways to beat the time limit

  • Only learning the ropes as Toon Link when I made this video, the thought of using Bombs never occurred to me, let alone deliberately aiming them at something specific.

But it also proves that the time can be completed with a reasonably fast character with an easily executable game plan.

  • hm yes...indeed...everyone can do this

but u still can be some seconds faster without being very good...u only have to take the right way, or sometimes use the right items

  • The point of this video was to show what to do to get under the time limit. I did it in such a way that anyone who's used to the game CAN do this.

  • U were lucky at around 1:30!

  • I never could have beaten level three's challenge without you. Thanks Overhazard!

  • that was better than any attempt I've ever done DX

  • It took me a lot of retries, especially #3 and #4.

  • oh yeah and i can do lv4 in under 24 secs

  • duh toon link pwns

  • i do better, 8 sec on lv 2

    but good vid xD

  • not bad man, good vid..:)

  • wow your Good with toon link Hes awsome

  • Every character has the same set, so it depends. Some of them are much harder for some characters than other. The fifth one, for instance, has a lot of out-of-the-way targets, so Lucas would have an extremely easy time there, whereas Ganondorf would have a lot of trouble.

  • You could do a lot better one these. Try to be creative.

  • The last is niiiice!

I dnt have it, but soon!

  • That wasn't the point.

  • Use the boomerang! At some angles you could nail the targets that take 8 seconds to get to.

  • I have trouble using the Boomerang properly, especially if they're very far away. This video was meant to show strategy, however, and not skill.

  • stand still for a bit when using the boomerang

  • pretty damn good

  • Very well done.

  • I did toon link on all of them & I got a lower time on 5 than 4

  • Jarref I bet i'd fuck you up in regular brawling though....Ness FTW

  • You missed the point of this video.

  • this isn't a video for overhazard to show how pro he is... this is an instructional video to show people who can't do these on their own some effective strategies.

although he does seem to cut it really close on alot of these... on the fivth one alot of those targets could have been done faster.

  • For each of these, I recorded the first time I had completed them within the time limit. I messed up a lot on the fifth one, but that only means you have some pretty good breathing room for it.

I'm also glad you understood what it was for. Ihad given similar explanations for the Target Tests on GameFAQs for Melee and was greeted with similar...criticism.

  • I wasn't trying to brag...calm down...gosh...

  • That wasn't directed at you, actually.

  • nice

  • i actually did 1 bttr than u the last one im so proud of myself because ur so good and i beat u =] but only once

  • Nice :P I know that you can do better, and you know you aren't as good as those wicked awesome guys. But unfortunately, people don't read descriptions any more :(

  • It's possible to do #2 much faster with Toon Link, hell even Link can do it faster than that, but otherwise nice work.

  • Does it involve firing all of the top ones with the Cracker Launcher? I discovered that later on.

  • You and me got the same time on the 2nd one but I used a whole different strategy and would have possibly finished in14 seconds but I accidentally wall jumped a few times and git hit b the deku nuts which hurt me.

  • No, first jump and hit the target to the right and land on the platform. Jump to the Smart Bomb and toss it up, then jump left and hit the target you pass with a nair or fair. When you land fire left towords the target near the crate, miss the target and you'll hit the crate, making it fall and causing it to hit the two lower targets. Then jump, grab the Beam Sword and toss it right to make it ricochete and hit the target that was near the create, than use the Cracker Launcher (cont...)

  • (cont...) and take out the top left target, the one above you, and then throw it at the final target. This can be done in just under 10 seconds with Toon Link, about 15 for regular.

  • I got lost in the sea of Smash terminology there...I'm only mindly proficient in it, as I don't hang out within competitive circles. I'm not even competitive at all. I think I got the gist of...some of it. Not sure what "firing left" means, however.

I'm just glad I beat this within the challenge time. I hate Break the Targets, so chances are I'll never play as Toon Link for this ever again.

  • fire left... take a shot with the bow to the left...

  • I will upload (2nite) doing level 2 in 12 seconds with Toon Link!!!

  • You do that. I didn't upload this to impress people though.

  • I already did...

  • off topic but i've seen someone do the 5th level f btt in like 7 seconds with toon link

  • awesome.

  • Thanks for helping me with Target smash 1 & 3... I had 2 figured out before this video and I'm sure Ill come back here when I need help with 4 & 5

  • nice ricochet with the beam sword at the end there

  • nice

  • Is it just me or is everything moving slow?

  • Do you mean compared to Melee? The falling speed has been slowed down to make aerial combat easier, and the game uses a completely different physics engine (Havok) than before.

  • I actually used sonic on the 3rd target test. If you use his up b his spring will take out some of the targets when you jump.

  • Well, if you're just trying to finish these, you're best off doing it with the same character, since that's how you unlock Lucario.

  • o my bad.. im just finishing them while watching but i think its easier to get Lucario in SSE or through vs. matches. But nice vid especially since its achievable. 5/5

  • Thanks. Subspace Emissary seems to be easiest, since to get all the Target stages, you have to go through Classic at various difficulties. That's how I got Lucario.

  • is it just me or does it seem to be harder to d othe tests with some characters or is it that it takes a different tactic to do them

  • It would be harder to do some of these target tests with certain characters. Level 5 is a lot quicker and easier if you have projctiles, for instance, and bad jumpers like Ganondorf or Ike would have a rough time woth Level 4.

  • r the levels doable with all characters

  • Yes, they are. They were all designed to be doable as anyone.

  • ur a fucking beast man. i'm still rying to make time on lvl 3

  • on lvl four 28 sec

  • i got 16.32 sec on the 3rd one with toon link

  • ive got 9.83 secs on the first lvl with fox

  • On level 4 you didn't beat the challenge record and you're style is all wrong for level 5, i've gotten 24 and almost 18 i think.

  • The Challenge time is 32 seconds for Level 4, and I did beat it. I got the Trophy from the window.

I did make a lot of mistakes in the fifth one, but I don't care. I don't like Break the Targets, and after meeting these requirements, I probably won't ever touch it again. Except to beat it with other characters to get the other Trophies.

  • My mistake I thought the limit was 30 seconds not 32, but there is a faster way to do level 5 :D

  • I also just today got 14 seconds on lvl 3 with fox :D

  • awesome :]

  • wow your good

  • wow man you're good. I never thought about the box idea in Lvl. 2, thx a lot : )

  • I tried the first target smash and got 15.16 seconds, but after I watched this, I got it under 15. You're awesome!

  • Hey Overhazard, have you decided on a main character to use on all your fights yet?

  • I've already decided on Random.

  • Stage 2 you got the idea from the new vid didn't you?

  • New vid? You mean today's? I did this yesterday. I didn't bother to upload it until today. I didn't even consider using the Cracker Launcher to break the Target right above it.

  • I like how your ability is amazing, yet feasible. I was especially impressed by the earlier ones.

  • wow i never knew that u can do that lol i do the other slow one but im going to use your method from now on

  • Wow great job :P now I know how to get some lower scores myself.

  • Nice times! One question what do you use to capture your videos?

  • Did it take time to figure out the method of throwing the beam sword near the end? It's so genius. It has to be why the beam sword is there.

Characters with projectiles tend to have it easier. Characters like Jigglypuff may have a little more difficulty, but I think it's cool that although the Target levels are all the same for everyone, it takes different strategies for different characters to clear them. I also like that you don't HAVE to use the items, but it's nice that they're there.

  • One thing I noticed is that the Level 5 target stage has a Cracker Launcher hiding away, allowing even those without projectiles to hit the targets safely. Nevertheless, they do have a disadvantage for speedruns.

I learned the beam Sword thing by watching videos of the Level 5 stage before the game came out. That's pretty much all I remembered.

  • Sorry but the lvl 5 one kinda sucked

  • It's pretty decent (:

  • Now THIS is more of my pace! Yet it is still full of win.

  • hey overhazard, how much are those video recording things? and which is best?

  • Depends. They go from $50 to $300, depending on what kind of computer you use and what you want to record with them.

  • whoa the first one was fast!
