John Hiller is the unaccredited cinematographer who shot the footage of Gorgo being transported on a trailer (here seen starting at at 2:29). He used his own television set for the scene in the pub. Mr Hiller told me that the trailer included only the head and tail of the monster, and only some kind of (wooden?) frame under the tarp marked "Gorgo". Mr Hiller is an award winning cinematographer, expert on the history of motion picture cameras, and fine arts photographer.
GORGO was in every way superior to Godzilla. Not as famous, but a much better, less campy movie. In the US & Britain, Gorgo was actually a major motion picture. Godzilla's first showing here was not nearly as big. Time passed makes us forget how big this film was in 1961. Much more believable than Godzilla.....much less cartoonish.
@clovisman Watch the original Japanese version (not the shitty American cut) of 'Gojira'. No camp there at all. That movie is far superior to Gorgo (Not saying Gorgo is bad at all). Yes other Godzilla movies not so much but the original Japanese cut really is "King Of The Monsters". It even has a 93% "fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes.
@clovisman I can't believe Gorgo at all-how the hell is she invulverable to all weapons-she is being shelled by large caliber naval guns and survives?
They say that this was a rip off or the UK's response to Godzilla. Well I'm a major Godzilla and giant monster movie fan and I liked this movie! It was original and fun!
Nice backround bio. I always liked the music to Gorgo. It was the real soul of the story. I think the little girl should have gotten some royalties for her initial idea of a family friendly monster movie.
I like Gorgo, One of my favorite movies when i was younger... but of course Godzilla will always be #1.
This film should get a proper Reboot though.

@GORIZARD5
I'm going to have to go with the idea that Gorgo is the UK's national monster

@GORIZARD5 godzilla was inspired by beast from 20,000 fathoms.

@GORIZARD5 Love Godzilla too. But, IMO, Gorgo was superior.

"GORGO"; one of my first words. I grew up with this movie. I love it. I know it can be silly, but it holds so much nostalgia for me.
Is it me, or does it seem funny that the narrator said "trashed" at 2:23? It just seems out of place for a sophisticated narrator.
