  • Yes, Blessi (Veigar fra Budardal -(IS1996138906) is definitely Icelandic. He was imported from Iceland to the US over 7 years ago. Blessi is tall for an Icelandic (14.1 hands or 143.3 cm). He looks huge in this video because Dannelle the rider is only 5 feet or 152 cm and weighs 100 lbs or 45.5 kgs. So it is an optical illusion--with a small rider and a big trot Blessi looks like a warmblood . Check my other videos, you can see him tolting. Do you ride dressage with your Icelandic?

  • Are you sure it is an Icelandic Horse? It is huge! And it does not look like an Icelandic Horse. I have a mare from Iceland, 11 years old and 138 cm.

  • Toeltfan--my dressage instructor is riding Blessi, not me. I don't ride nearly this well. ;-) Thanks for the compliment. This was was Blessi's second ever dressage show--he surprised the heck out of everyone. And we were surprised that the judge placed him over the warm bloods and Arabs. But Blessi is very steady and reliable--except he sometimes tolts. How is your dressage going with your Icelandic? And your English is better than my German. Ich spreche ein kleines Deutsch.

  • great, that the judges mentioned that the nose is behind the vertical:)

here in germany i got the feeling, that judges are giving the first place to the most stiff horse and the rudest rider on it's back and of course,if the horse ist not on of the most beautifull ones you will have no chance.

sad,i wish here itwas more like they look after good ridden and well trained horses

i'm riding dressage withan icelandic horse , too and must say that i liked your performance :)

    sorry for mistakes:)

  • I love this video, Pamela. And I am especially impressed with the transitions! In Icelandic competitions, we are not expected to execute gait changes at This Spot Right Here ;). Also, just being able to canter a 20 meter circle like that is something special for a lot of Icelandics. Really nice video and especially helpful to have the VoiceOver. Thanks.

  • Thanks! Bless is a sweetheart! And Dannelle is a very good rider.

  • Good job!!- so nice to see an Icelandic ridden dressage, so nicely collected and soft!
