With the 951 though, it isn't so much the out of the box (20 year old tech) performance, it is how cheap and easy it is to take that 217hp and turn it into 300-320hp; MAF, chips, exhaust-cat delete, 18psi and easy 330+hp.
Also 88s and 89 came with 247hp. Not bad for an almost antique car. The Z is about 500lbs heavier. That 951 still had the Stock AFM which tells me that he's not running over 300hp.
Once you put A MAF youll hear that turbo whisling. Since I didn't hear it I figured that. When I replaced mine that was something that I started enjoying. Even o cold days I open my window a littlebit to listen to it.
lol nice. Well it was a good call! AFM it is haha. Actually I'm probably not gonna go with a MAF even though they're more popular. The AFM has potential, but I'm gonna mess with some other ideas.
Those are Euro-specs. Porsche never produced a 944 turbo in the U.S. before 1986. Actual specs are more like 217hp etc. etc. on the American models. Full bolt-on Z's will lay down mid to upper 200's wheel horsepower (250-280). Something to consider.
The 944 and 951's I4 is actually just half of a 928 engine. Food for thought...

A good video. I'm disappointed a bit that the 944 didn't do better, the 350z clearly had the edge. I had rather hoped it'd be as quick standard.
Love the sound of the 350 in the first run though and the flame of the standard Porsche in the 2nd :)
