  • Who ever dislikes this is tone deaf!!!

  • love his sound..

  • wow, didn´t know Eric could sing like this! cool.

  • The good thing about it being a Fender event, is you always get a clear shot of his fingers so it's a bit less impossible to figure out his licks! =D

  • this is one of my favorite you tube videos!

  • Those guys in the band should be helping out background vocals the song needs it.

    Would sound greater...

Sure the guitar work is fantastic.. and very creative...

  • The bass player has a bill nash!!! insult to fender! hahaha nash guitars are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @rji2000 It's a real fender, a custom shop relic i believe.

  • my fav guitarist!

  • those chords are terrifying...

  • Great Guitarist and composer.

  • need reverb on eric's vocal

  • bravo eric faith

  • some reverb on that voice would be nice...

  • Got to be dedicated to play with EJ.

  • The drummer here is awesome.

  • Piers and Colin from Whose Line in the band!

  • I bough my first Stratocaster when I go into Eric JOhnson

  • @DerekBeck87 understandable reason!

  • This is like porn for blind people

  • there's healing properties in the music of EJ... :)

  • ACE

  • The song in 14:39 is awesome!!~

  • dude WHAT THE FUCK happened at 0:56? someone PLEASE tell me.

  • @jimslucidity Harp harmonics

  • @jimslucidity eric played harmonics over the chord using his index finger and pick slightly behind his finger an old Lenny Breau trick

  • Does anyone what's the name of this song!! THIS SONG KILLS!!!!

  • 19 people thought the Dislike button was Dis-i-like

  • holy crap i want that guitar. Does anybody know where i can get it cheap instead of 1,889 or someting

  • I like this guys playing master of major pent and mixolydian modes

  • What Is This Song???

  • This is an awesome set!

  • Does anyone have accurate tabs for When the Sun Meets the Sky? Specifically for the chorus and the chords at the beginning of the solo. So amazing, but my transcription skills are lacking.

  • Eric is absolutely amazing - so versatile and adept and many styles. Great tone.

  • this guy inspires me !!!

  • A Guitar Archangel walks amongst mere mortals.

  • Awesome, Truely Awesome! I have loved Eric's tone and talent from the first time I heard him play. Thank you for posting this! :)

  • really dirty his lead channel in this video

  • You dont see many strat necks with that white binding

  • Love Eric... sound guy could have helped him out a little on his vocals with some delay or something to fatten it up. Give the guy some help!

  • Progression sounds alot like Bristol Shore.

  • Trochę odjął mocy tej gitarze ustawiając takie brzmienie ale poza tym ładnie

  • The bass player doesn't have a fender!!...its a bill nash guitar!!!! unbelievable!!!! hahaha

you can see the serial number on the tip of the headstock!!!...

  • what is the first song?

  • @mateyko555 Friends of Tones album

  • Helen Keller must have voted 18 times!

  • I salute Eric Johnson, even if I tried playing some of the simplest guitar chords while singing, one or the other would falter

He is doing both (with what looks like semi-difficult chord transitions) AND singing.

  • Not bad singing. Better than joe satriani no offense joe.

  • I like how Eric Johnson saves his pinkie usage for when he really needs it. I'm always using my pinkie - probably be good for my playing and finger stretch abilities if I used my ring finger more often in place of bringing the pinkie in.

  • who on earth woud hit the dislike button on this? let alone 18 ppl

  • @blackjackbeast09 Some low-rent cockwasher

  • Omg, that drummer makes some retarded faces & the bass player looks like he escaped from a nursing home. EJ's playing is fantastic as usual but get the freak show off the stage.

  • @iodo2004 It shouldn't matter what they look like. It's talent that a real musician wants for their band. Eric wouldn't be the one to tell someone off because of their looks. Grow up man. Pop culture has obviously gotten to you.

  • Doesn't Eric Johnson age ? Just like his music, timeless, understated & always cool.

  • @superskwrl Eric has no time to age, his body is too relaxed and his brain is always filled with music :D

  • The bass player is amazing!..What is his name?

  • i had an orgasm like 10 times while watching this!!! im not gay or anything but i would totally get it on with eric johnson!

  • His playing is soo fluid that they been able to download a 25mn video

  • One of the greatest guitarists ever.

  • Gotta say, that drummer is extremely good.

  • great playing EJ. Drumer looks hella tired. LMAO

  • how many tones can ej have hahaha great guitar player deserves more recognition.

  • i like the tone of this strat better, i saw a video of him playing his maple signatue and it sounds like they"ve put too much maple on the fretboard

  • 18 justin biever fans...

  • i dont like the intro! studio version is better!! with the jungle stuff.

  • ชอบ

  • Guitar is an endless journey =)

  • well, I was gonna make fun of the old geezers backing him up... but DANG!

    them cats is bad.

i'ts gotta be sad for EJ tho... theres just nowhere else to go on the guitar for him... he has totally conquered it!

  • I want to see you guys sing while playing those chords and riffs! Eric is awesome! It's the soundman being lazy.

  • @TheDonnytomlinson He IS awesome. But he's also human. He doesn't have the strongest voice and isn't always on form.

  • ok...maybe the sounds are not well balanced and so on...but eric is amazing!!!!look what kind of chords he's throwing while singing!!!amazing guitarist and kind person.

  • Eric Johnson is Amazing! But Lincoln Brewster's show was much more entertaining

  • I think he has a voice it's just not very promanent in the mix. Very dry and lacking.

  • He needs a voice

  • @sergiudrummer

His singing seems a bit poor in this video, but he is an amazing singer.

  • I love the clean sound, and the chords on Sun meets the Sky - I wish I had Kyle Brock as my bass player

  • shit singer,

  • Eric is a brilliant musician. I just looked him up on on wikipedia and he's 57 years old? What the heck? I think he found the fountain of youth or something.

  • @saaaaalw Não.

  • actions speak louder than words. he is one of my favs. donna

  • i'd like to see his talent show in 8th grade!!!

  • totally agree, Eric johnson is one of the greatest all the time, he looks so calm but he plays like a monster

  • whats is CHANDLER BING doing on drums?!!?!?

  • @Cocox2 what is GOD doing on guitar?

  • @bene182 So true !

  • mr soundmen, .. pls give the mic some reverb n delay also thicken d sound a bit wouldcha'

  • I totally agree with you on the NO SINGING. If you wanna hear somebody ridiculously good from Austin, check out Monty Montgomery. Plays only an acoustic guitar but you would have no idea if you were not watching video. Tons of vids on youtube but his version(s) of Little Wing are now legendary

  • how do you get a video this long on here?...iv always thought 10mins was the limit?

  • actully if you think this is long you should watch or try too watch this is its actuall name the longest video on youtube it lasts for hours

  • @bigdaddystratman u have to be part of the youtube partnership program..

  • im sorry but i only have 2 words for eric johnson. STOP SINGING!!! ur a terrible vocalist. stick to wat ur best at which is instrumentals

  • I like his guitar sound!!!!!!

  • Really fast right hand and pentatonic scale connections. He bends some cool notes running through his solos. Those piano chord voicings on guitar sound really cool too.I liked his tone back in 1978 when he ran through 2 Fender blackface twinns and no marshall, he used a Freshfuzz back then to get the overdrive through the twinns it was great. Most of his sound comes from his phrasing and inflection. He sounds great no matter what he pays through.

  • I'm a huge fan of Erics, but considering the incredible tones he's gotten over the years, this performance doesn't sound so hot to me. Maybe it's the sound equipment that recorded it? For anyone new to his music, check out the Austin City Lights concert in the late 80s on DVD now. He wears a goofy jacket, but gets otherworldly tone which is what accounts for his legendary status now.

  • @earlgrey626 Yeah, the ACL '88 is super. EJ has since then replaced most of his gear and after entering the 2k gone for a chunkier and dryer sound to my ears. I think the major issues here is the RW neck and the Marshall or what ever w. KT66 for dirty rhythm. It's a far cry from the clean Dumble w. pedals he used back then. It seems EJ isn't very fine with his new tone either and is known to having said in interviews he wants to get back to the tone from late 80s early 90s.

  • @earlgrey626 iv been a long time srv fan anf 1st checked out ej cause of that and i got the concert u r talking about and it is the best one hes had i think,...most ppl now days no of him from guitar hero (part 3 i think but not sure) cause it has him doing cliffs of dover on it lol its a good song but i can think of a bunch of diff. one's id rather saw on there haha!

  • @screamin07

actually, rather than quitting, it makes me want to practice more! lol I'm way past the point of quitting, so I may as well try and move forward!

  • Great!!!!

  • um... im too lazy to find it myself, so where is cliffs of dover in this vid?

  • @superchickenbob it isn't on this recording, but someone who attended the concert recorded the song via Bootleg Format

  • I met Eric once. When he shook my hand I was suprised at how long and narrow his hand was. As you can see, the Fender neck is dwarfed by his hands.

  • esse é o melhor!!!

  • His tones are so perfect in every way.

  • He's got a Jan Hammer tone at times like an effin' synth, cool.

  • Bad-ass guitarist he is.

  • Do I hear a germanium fuzz box?

  • he can really play everything and no one that can do it better that's why i believe as now he's the best payer in the world.....

  • @ggmisadmin hence, we all can lend money to him with very low interest rates. =D

  • @Reizein1109 ...wow you're funny.

  • @ggmisadmin Thank you!

  • @Reizein1109 ...that's all =D you have?

  • @ggmisadmin No. but it was enough for you [ :

  • @Reizein1109 ..no way! I like much bigger...ask your mother.

  • I get arthritis pain when I watch this

  • first song was the best IMO

  • omfg this is mesmerizing

  • Still a fucking chord master.

  • Damn! Eric still looks 28 years old.

  • i dont think he played one chord I recognize lol...

  • Man, he butchered that 2nd song (i think its called "zap"). His timing was wayy off. I wonder if he was having problems with the monitors?

  • @LUckybones25

Hi it's called "Camel's night out"

  • @bengear1986 Yea, thats the one!

  • I love EJ, but never cared for his vocals. He doesn't even need a voice with those guitar skills! LOL

  • He destroys that last tune.... I'm shitting my pants....

  • Sounds like Alan Parson Project-

  • i had a boner at the 2nd song

  • For some reason, I feel like his lead tone is a bit choked off during this show

  • Ladies and gentleman... CHANDLER BING on drums!

  • All Eric's tones are just AMAZING!

  • god dammit this guy makes me wanna quit playing..

  • eric johnson , well , I don't need to say anything!!!!

  • THE DRUMMERS FACE! HA! awesome.

  • @LAIDBACKMANNER looks like he's cumming hahahaha

  • Advance to 14:41 - the last song on this reel - great guitar work here.

  • What beautiful playing. The colours, the tones, the technique. So lyrical, so emotional. It might sound daft to some, but it feels "loving" Ah, it makes me sigh.

So very beautiful a journey. Thank you Eric for giving us this !

  • Makes it sound like a violin at times.

  • weird stuff-sounds like he stuffed in some baritone saxiphones in with the buzzy low notes. Different sort of sounds. does his guitar have that eq like the one eric clapton plays? go chicken picking on a bass!!

  • nice version of Cliffs over dovers!!!

  • @gemydaloot ... Where?

  • well this has the ebony fretboard? dont know how much difference that makes , but he still sounds great.

  • Eric Johnson is the epitome of what a real guitar player is:

He has style, grace, melody, soul, and and skills that most people only dream of having.

  • Too much o that fuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • an enjoyable vid nonetheless, thanks for the upload!

  • love EJ, but not the best gig at all. i think he knew that too. venue was prob too small for his normal gig volume amp-wise, which might explain the tone. vocals is a bit of a puzzler, cos generally his vocals are good. nothing mind-blowing, but very good. might have been early in the day. also, those wireless mic's are very directional, and are a bitch for the monitor mix if ur used to sm58s or similar. just my thoughts; you can bet that if EJ's having a bad gig, there's a good reason!

  • I like the music n Erics head. Sublime !!!

  • 4:43 I have never seen EJ strum so violently in my life lol, and it wasn't even that strong of a strum.

  • Great guitar player, but cant sing sorry Eric.

  • I still think he would sound better with a maple fretboard instead of the rosewood

  • Is it me or is Eric unhappy here?

  • eric, why the heck you changed your tone...

  • CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP FOR ERIC JOHNSON

  • that bass jam was probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard

  • the country bass thing is amazing, anyway.

  • c'mon ! eric is amazing , lets see you do it.

  • @llss882

For me and many others he is a legend . Don´t measure greatness with records sales

  • @llss882 slash and keith?????????????LOLOLOLOLOL, THOSE GUYS AREN'T FIT TO CARRY ERIC'S GUITAR. type in eric johnson- manhattan and then pop off about songwriting.

  • @TheBoilerman1 hey i am tallkin bout songs greatness...apart from Cliff of Dover and Manhattan the rest is questionable...dont need to go fast or write hard chords to hit people heart..and it has nothing to do with music genres..

  • Comment removed

  • "Too many notes!!"

    8-)

  • i love eric but i think he should not do all these progression chords during singing

    because its messing the song

  • Truly amazing guitarist...and a great band! The "gentleman" shredder!

  • anyone know the directions to Taco Bell? ty

  • Sounds great as usual, but his tone's a little different in this video.

  • They should do a reality show to find a singer for the Eric Johnson Band.

  • 'Friends' would fit right into the GTA: Vice City soundtrack :p

  • its funny that hes playing his marshalls at this event

  • at 04:03 you can literally see pure hatred in the drummer's eyes

  • LMFAO at 3:52
