  • I hate Lion.

  • Fuck theirs stupidest mission control Fuck noobs who says that it is awesome! Fuck Lion!

Nothing technical just fucking addition programs? Now they added two features and created fucking mountain lion! Are you joking!?

  • Fuck Lion! Snow Leopard much better.

Fucking busters removed my favorite spaces. Fuck you with you fucking spaces with small vertical windows. Fuck you ipad suckes!

  • Mission Control impedes my work, I liked Exposé and Spaces better, I wish Apple allowed users to choose between the two interfaces.

I also loathe Autosave and Versions and you will never be able to turn these off because Apple's new revenue source is iCloud and Autosave and Versions tie into it.

I'm writing this just as I am reviewing Mountain Lion which is convincing me that Apple is abandoning the professional market.

  • app louncher (that rocket tingy) sucks

    mission control is cool

    full screen apps has potencial

  • you look like Ice cube dude :)

  • Another great use of mission control.. say you want to rearrange your dock! Swipe gesture to mission control locate the applications you want to place on the dock. Its visually easier than using the applications folder. The Icons are large no clutter no mess.

I want to challenge someone that feels Lion sucks. I want to know really whats so sucky about it?

  • @zellymusic I can tell you why it sucks, and it may be the only reason but its so annoying. For a ton of programs and files OS X is too "advanced" a ton of programs that you download are not supported by OS X meaning a lot of stuff doesnt work. You download things like emulators, types of Vids, ect. And they don't work because of OS X. There are a lot of cool things about OS X, but that one part sucks and you can't say it doesnt, otherwise u have no clue what I'm talking about.

  • @therealTaichiYagami 'advanced' is a strange choice of word for this context.

  • @stinky472 lol note the quotations around the word advanced, thats used to indicate sarcasm.

  • The people that don't see a use for Mission Control don't have an iPad and don't understand it!

I like being able to get to any application at anytime with a simple gesture instead of going to finder and looking through the applications folder.

I like it. Im having a hard time understanding why people are complaining over this.

I came to the mac from Windows and it seems very easy! In fact its more simple that windows and windows was very simple to me!

  • I love Lion its makes so much sense to me!

  • yes you need to learn and read more about those things before make a video obviously with out not background about it ……. so disappoint

listen the software just run super good and not just that also is one of the creates software created for mac before ….

  • I'm running Mac OS Lion on my HP/PC , and I know for a fact the best software for Mac isn't in the Apps store , and I know that you don't have to summit ANY software , or app to the apps store. I make apps all the time , and upload them to other sites.

  • Why don't we all "upgrade" from Lion to Snow Leopard

  • @77guacamole I just got an air... and I feel like I'm on a PC again!!! Not only did a simple thing like downloading divx not work... but I can't figure out how to delete it. "Finder" is very confusing. I fucking hate lion.

  • @urwholefamilydied How is it confusing?

  • you can still get apps that are not on appstore also

  • OS 10 rocks!!!!

  • to answer your question: yes it does, i have never used it but since it is made by apple i already know it is a piece of shit

  • Stop moaning people :))

  • You mentioned you hated the idea of Exposé and now love it. I however LOVED the idea of Exposé and still LOVE it, in fact I was wishing for something like Exposé before it happened.

I was not wishing for the "app storeness" of Lion, but it's pretty awesome. Now I can have my most used apps on the dock, but be able to quickly access any app with a quick flick of my mouse (yes I'm still using Lion with a mighty mouse). I just set launchpad to a lower right hot corner.

  • cant take this fag seriously

  • @andreshates haha. a bit rude but funny :))

  • It's the same crap "Linux Ubuntu" is doing, and thats why I switched to "Linux Mint"... Mac OS X was based off of ideas from mkLinux , BSD , and Nextstep . Basically you can do all that same stuff in Linux , or BSD , but they are all free OS.

  • Microsoft > Apple

  • @PPKproductions3 All the things people hate about Lion are things coming in Windows 8, and Windows 8 does all those things even worse (the giant "apps" screen is the default login screen now, which is cool for my Samsung Series 7 slate but crap on notebooks).

I'm just saying, while I like Snow Leopard better than Lion, using Lion to argue Microsoft is better than Apple is silly. Microsoft and Apple are both making their operating systems more and more hidden behind mobile-OS eye candy.

  • @PPKproductions3 For example, to get to Windows Explorer in Windows 8 you need to open the "app" and switch to the desktop or add a shortcut or something, even Control Panel takes forever to get to, with a useless tablet-ish setting screen fronting it. And Lion is getting almost as bad, hiding things like user libraries and trying to get people to use "All videos" and "All music" folders that scan your HDD for those types of files (kind of like having the iOS videos app instead of folders). yuk

  • @pismodude2 yeah I know, but its too early to judge windows 8 since they are still developing it

  • @PPKproductions3 I suppose. I only ever used the developer version of Lion though XD

  • @PPKproductions3 you typed < wrong.

  • @ChristopherJacques no no im sure i typed it right

  • if it is so bad make a laptop then we will talk fatty

  • @kid300100 I've built several computers all cheaper and more efficient than apple mac computers. Have you ever heard of hackintosh btw? I don't like the new OS I don't need to be a director to critic a movie nor do I have to be a member of the senate to disagree with one.

  • Got trust issues?

  • Cider games run much slower on Lion

Font system also sucks on Lion since they took off the font-preview feature which I love. Both mission control and app launcher are unneccesary additions to the system.

Love the way Finder displays the files and also like the way notification windows fade/pop-up.

I didn't get a chance to try features like resume, versions and Autosave since all my Adobe CSS5 was running slow as hell.

  • I miss expose and space.

  • @dizzyprizzy what's wrong with mission control? expose is still available if you fiddle with the trackpad settings!

  • Yeah, it does.

  • Comment removed

  • says " uploaded by rantabouttech on october 28 2010. " LION WASN'T EVEN AVAILABLE for dev preview during that time..lol..htf could YOU or anyone know if the o.s. sucks or not?

epic fail..probably why you have more dislikes than fanboy brainwashed applesauce teenie bopper likes. here's your 93rd dislike

  • hes using a mac

  • I love you

  • i actually like lion and find it 10x more useful than the old one! I can switch thru programs with no problem and I no longer have to worry about saving documents on Pages, I can quit it and start back where i left off! The ONLY problem I have with it is it's searching.. when i look for stuff on my mac using "spotlight" it can't normally find it and shows me things I'm not looking for... the spotlight in Lion has potential and is better in idea but it's wayy less reliable than snow leopard to me

  • Good video, I agree with you about Mission Control, I don't have Lion, but to me it seams pretty useless.

About the Launch Pad though I think that you, it's not the same as the Dock! In the Dock I only have my mostly used applications, non ALL my applications! So I think that it shoud be useful to see all the Apps right there instead of going into the application folder searching for an App

However about the UI, I think that only with the trackpad it's usable, with the mouse not so much

    Cheers!

  • fuckapps on a computer. stupppid.

  • Have you gotten a chance to use Lion yet? I'm so glad apps on Lion didn't get stonewalled to only being in the Mac App Store.

  • not like a ipad at all!

  • finally. you shut up.

  • I guess this chap was trying to sound off-the-cuff & informal, but his comments are disjointed. I see he's holding a pen, & recommend that before he posts a video, he should write himself a script, learn it (so that it won't appear in the video that he's reading one), & then deliver it in the video in a conversational manner (so that it doesn't appear as though he's memorised a script).

  • ohh yeah an iPad... just like a friggin million times more fast/strong/hardcore (possibility to watch more porn)

  • micro.... fan boy u need 2 get laid

  • "ranting" to be honest just comes across as juvenile. You do somewhat come across almost as if you have an opinion to offer but in the end just seem a tad whiney and confused, why would you wish to present yourself as somewhat authoritative but utterly without a solid statement or position to offer, make a vid and post it. It seems like a 20-something whinging just because he can. Why?

Sorry I don't mean to come across as a douche or another internet cowboy but I'm lost on the point here.

  • dude your a fag! compare, stupid windows 8 with lions the you talk! fat fag

  • @ateotech dude "YOU'RE" a fanboy! compare his post of facts with yours of nothing but insults.

  • OS X Lion doesn't suck. it just doesn't have any novel concepts. Linux has had equivalents to what its new features are for a LONG time.

  • FAT and gay? WITH A BEARD? WHAT THE FUCKKKKKKKKK!!!

  • Not a bad "rant" but you really need to do a better chroma key (or even better, don't do a chroma key and use a more interesting bg than a default desktop). Also, don't wear a blue shirt on a blue background.

  • jes

  • Whit Windows 7 and Eyeon Fusion you can cut easily that green screen :P

  • Dude, U SUK!

  • Then don't use the app store..........

  • for me, dashboard is useful, FOR ME, I DIDNT SAY U

  • Why mac OSX Lion Sucks? because now lion population are really in danger because now the Lion are killed and the die lion body are kept at the storage that full of Windows!

  • You're just asking to be blue screened

  • I like mission control, and the new gestures. I don't like Launcher, it is useless.

  • I'm currently a PC user, and I'm still in the debate on getting a Macbook or Windows 8 Device when I graduate this next year. I love many features that Windows 7 presents, however, Mac has the same exact features available via download. I was worried about the software compatibility, but with bootcamp, couldn't I just have the same app running in there? I understand the hardware for mac is more expensive, but at least it works with few flaws and looks gorgeous.

  • I think all the "new features in lion " ARE all OLD features that Linux , and BSD OSes have had for YEARS.

  • Your chroma key sucks also, btw.

  • AND THEY NAMED THEIR COMPANY APPLE BECAUSE THEY MADE ADAM AND EVE EAT THE APPLES...LOL...I AM STARTING TO LOVE WINDOWS 7

  • OS X LION KILLS COMPATABILITY...I DON'T BUY APPS LoL...SO THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE ALOT OF PROBLEMS WITH JAILBREAKING ON THE COMPUTERS TOO...LOL...AND YES I AM SERIOUS...LOL

  • It's the gripe I've had with Mac all along. The people don't know what they want until we create it philosophy. Not everyone lacks vision Apple. I know what I want my operating system to do. Namely run lightning fast even on the oldest freaking mac known to man. I also want it to be current in both styling and function. I want to be able to tweak it, and make it do things that people state can't be done with it.

I guess it's why I abandoned Apple and X years ago in Favor of Linux..

    True Story

  • its awesome, but crazy overpriced

  • @sonofaninja1 29 dollars?

  • @vajksziget7a it should be free

  • @sonofaninja1 Again Why? Have you ever used Lion? I think it's awesome i love the launchpad feature and the mission control and so on... I think it's easily worth the 29 dollars.

  • lion has a wi-fi issue, everything else is great.. i took everything off my dock, for a cleaner look, & now only use launchpad

  • i'll use both operating systems if given the chance. kudos to microsoft for really stepping up with windows 7 though. they did a great job with it.

  • Lion is Apple's Windows Me or Vista. It's a complete mess. But Microsoft allowed users to get a free "downgrade" to XP when they bought a new Vista machine and obviously all of those machines supported XP. No such luck with Apple, but a new Mac, you are saddled with an unusable crash happy beach balling Lion. So for the time being all that can be said is avoid new Macs until Apple gets around to fixing all the bugs in Lion.

  • I've been a Mac user since about 2005 so I've used Panther, Tiger, Leo, Sno, and Lion. Lion is by FAR the worst Mac OS X version I've ever used. It is so horribly buggy and beach balls constantly, even on my brand new Core i5 MBA. Unfortunately my MBA not only req Lion but a special build of Lion so while I can roll back my iMac, MBP and MP to Sno, the MBA is little more than a paperweight.

Lion was undercooked by about 6 months and should be avoided for at least 6 mos.

  • Skip Lion...stay on Snow Leopard...wait for Sabre Tooth

  • Mac is putting it all together for dumb users (app purchases and games) into 1 terminal (machine). Little Mac knows that their OS sucks! and really sucks!. I was using OSX Leopard and that really kicks Windows off the drawing board. Hope you can suggest some tweaks for OSX Lion.

  • windows 7 is good windows vista sucks windows xp is good mac os x snow leopard is awesome and mac os x lion is okay.

  • Apple still gives you freedom of choice you can get any application you want or your own ones

  • good thing i watch this video before I tried upgrading my hackintosh into lion

  • 1) App Store: You can still download apps from the internet if the one you want isn't from the app store. They never got rid of "freedom of choice", come on.

    2) Launchpad: Well the alternative is docking the Applications folder, which is the same thing, but launchpad is accessible at the press of a button and is full screen, basically just more convenient.

    3) How's using full screen apps an issue?

  • Linux.

  • @Nikolaj64 i was going to say the same thing lol

  • It just doesn't work like promised. The only plus to lion was that in quicktime you can create screenshows and combine two videos into one. I kept Lion on an external HD just for this reason. If you want a solid OS that works and makes since. Stay with Snow Leopard.

  • I installed Lion on all my macs and after 4 days downgraded back to Snow Leopard. I couldn't stand how Lion interacted. and the grey icons on the finder really bothered me, Launchpad is a waste as well as mission control, lack of spaces and expose, sucks and don't try to quickly get to your desktop like in snow leopard. you have to either close windows or waste time creating a new desktop. Also, screensharing sucks on Lion.

  • Lion sucks

  • I do like Lion it has great features like full screen apps that are amazing to use. Just needs time to get used to. I think everything will fall in place with iOS 5.

  • @capaseto Buying mac for:

    -"New" Full screen apps

    -Shiny, kinda snob layout

    -High price

    -Power consuming os

-herpderp "I can now drag & drop my appz windowz"-like features.

No thanks. I stay at pc :)!

  • @GamesXperience "Power Consuming"? Snow Leopard runs better on my Toshiba laptop than XP does. And uses less battery life. As for "high price" look up hackintoshing, you may like what you find.

  • OS X lion is horrible.!!!!!! Its just to make us all buy apple products. You said it. We dont have freedom anymore...... Someone needs to work out the kinks, besides Apple. Not everyone likes ipads..... I cant even use most of my useful programs on Lion..... I went back to Snow Leopard

  • @jared103081 I was tempted to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion but it felt like Lion wasn't that big of a deal to me. Also, I bought a new iMac in August and I specifically asked if Lion was installed on the system. Fortunatly it was an iMac manufactured before Lion and it wasn't pre-installed. So I'll stick with Snow Leopard. With Apple, if you want to keep the pace and always have their latest gadget, you might end up being deceived :)

  • @Maxxlenoxx You should get a free upgrade to lion.

  • @jeff666p I know but I don't want to ;o)

  • its crap, i was fine on snow leopard, then i upgraded, and that was that. Lion sucks bigtime.

  • but its nothing new! moneymilking inc, what, better appstore, and possibility for ipad layout, thats it??

  • Search on external drives is now useless. Can't find anything, no feedback, no way do force it to index the drive...

and still the most annoying feature of OSX: you can't go back to the folders you've just been! (Like 'Recently Used' in Windows which in the mac is a pitiful attempt that doesn't work)

  • Launchpad? Google System 7 launcher. It came out 20 years ago. Same thing.

  • You think it will be bad to be a consumer? Imagine what it is going to be like for a developer. The whole iOS developer situation is quite evil and they are moving it to OS X. I don't even want to get into it, except to say I've been using Apples since the Apple ][ and I'm never upgrading beyong 10.6.7 and looking at alternative OSs.

  • its so damn laggy i fucking hate it !!

  • @a7la8rshaswad Oh maybe they didn't tell you about the last OS upgrade step: Buy new hardware.

  • @w3bt3k dude i got the 2.2 ghz i7 15 inch macbook pro, can't get any better than that ?

  • @a7la8rshaswad Sorry for the miscommunication. I was joking about the price of upgrading to Lion: $30 + new hardware.

  • Ok, so OS X Lion doesn't have the absolute most OBVIOUS upgrades, but still. Look at you Mac. Would you rather be running on Snow Leopard again? With no awesome little multi-touch features, no mission control, no full screen apps? No new Cocoa framework?

    $30 bucks. Satisfied?

  • the only thing i personnaly dont like about lion is the bug on mission control that wen you have same size windows and go on mission control the overlap...just that but i hope apple will fix this...nothing is 100% good

  • Lion is actually really good. It may have bugs atm, but its version1.0 at the moment, it hasn't been patched yet, when it is, it'll be fully fixed. This Dork is saying it "sucks?" before its even fucking released. Anyone here who is watching this as an accurate review, or Winfags who want to hear a reviewer say Apple stuff is shit, you're both Morons, go find a reviewer who has actually USED the product before reviewing.

  • OS X LION IS SOOO SLOW

  • @FSflyer264 try doing a clean install.

  • Linux is the best!

  • You should get braces, you cant have to worry about looking more like a dork =)

  • Launchpad is horrible and useless, expose had its wings cut and is terrible. mission control does not work. the finder sidebar is terrible now.

Conclusion. lion makes windows look good

  • Honestly, the "Apple App Store" on Mac OSX is really a commercial version of what open source operating systems such as Linux and *BSD have had for years, and years. Easy software distribution via a "package manager" (or an "app store").

Open Source software has been distributed like this for years, but Apple have put a commercial spin on it. I'll admit though, I think the idea came from iOS, and not necessarily open source package managers.

  • if I wanted an iOS device I would buy a fucking iPad. I don't want my OSX UI destroyed by the iOS team. I installed Lion and then promptly took it off. Launchpad is total shit. Apple really fucked up this time. its bad enough that they rape you price wise on new hardware - this is the final straw for me. I now have no more reasons to keep using apple OS's at all. I can spend half as much for twice the power and have access to more software if I switch to windows - and I will be. See ya apple.

  • Ubuntu 11.04 > OS X Lion

  • Comment removed

  • Now I am on Linux Ubuntu 11.04 and I looooooove it.

  • I'm on W7 right now, and I loooooove it.

  • You are one of those desktop girls, I guess. Where is that trash can?

  • MAC OS LION.... REALLY SUCKS Big Time...

  • MAC OS LION.... REALLY SUCKS Big Time... Shit than Vista

  • MAC OS LION.... REALLY SUCKS Big Time... Shit than Vista

  • You need to arbitrarily throw your arms around more.

  • wow match up Ubuntu 10.10 and osx 10.7 wow they are the same damn thing

  • Windows 7 is great.

  • @gorillasocks nope windows sucks even more. Ubuntu rocks ....

  • @BartingerDeveloper

Linux has no pro level NLEs. Windows has AVID, and Adobe. I setup my windows install well, and it runs great. And BTW I have both a Ubuntu partition and Fedora.

  • @gorillasocks it sucks...

  • @Fredrik2012

Nope, it works perfectly. It boots up quick. The UI is simple, fluid, fast and intuitive.

It works on practically any hardware, without hiccups, which obviously OS X will never do. Even computers that came with XP will run it excellently. Macs from the XP era cannot run Lion, as they are PPC. :(

I've never had a BSOD in 15 months of using it. I use pro NLE software, like AVID and Adobe. Macs do not have Nvidia GTX graphics, which is very helpful for CUDA acceleration.

  • @gorillasocks Windows 7 sucks ass. Same as Windows 95.

  • @macuser5555

Have you used it? I have. For 16 months. Never had a blue screen, never had a virus.

I've used it on two laptops, and two desktops. The desktops are both single core P4 chips, and it runs amazing.

I've used OS X extensively (I'm a video production major, and work with Final Cut), and I can honestly say that I don't prefer one over the other. I haven't used Lion, but I don't like what they did from what I've seen.

  • @gorillasocks And yes I have used all versions of the Mac OS since OS 8 and Lion is by far the best version of OS X. Yes it has minor issues but that will be fixed. Apple addressed a LOT of switchers requests such as CUT, COPY N PASTE which is actually better in Lion than on Windows. The system is very stable and if people say it's not either their system had a corrupt files that didn't work after the Lion upgrade or they are just paid by Microsoft to sabotage Apple's OS in favor of Windows 8.

  • @macuser5555

I love scrolling up to scroll down.

  • Comment removed

  • @gorillasocks You've clearly never used OSX

  • @andyhmltn

In fact, I'm a film major. I use Final Cut Pro. I have used OS X extensively for video editing on Mac Pro workstations (even the current Mac Pros are really outdated). I am posting this from my hackintosh XPS laptop, running Snow Leopard.

  • @gorillasocks

My kudos to you for talking very sensibly. I don't share your taste for the OS, but I'm glad to see that you realize that a Hackintosh is really the only intelligent way to "go Mac," per say.

  • @gorillasocks Windows is not GOOD

    it es evil...

  • This is the final reason to dump Apple and go to Ubuntu. Now the system "upgrades" are almost as buggy and backward tech as windows. DO NOT UPGRADE TO LION IF YOU PREFER THAT YOUR LAPTOP OPERATES FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES WITHOUT CRASHING. IT IS THE WORST!!

  • Lion truly does suck! I use to be an apple fanboy. I'm switching back to PC.

  • OS X lion really SUCKS !!!!

  • @openmind765 Why?

  • @openmind765 Everybody stick with 10.6, Lion is Slower than Snow Leopard by 1%....THUMBS UP IF YOU GIVE A S____ ABOUT THAT 1%!!!!

  • The OSX itself is fine, it works, and it's better than 10.6

but WoW isn't fucking working for some BS reason.

A windows user judging a mac is pointless, don't knock it til' you try it, but from a mac user I have to say, what the fuck were they thinking?! the new mac OSX is just giving the middle finger salute to playing games, like apple is saying "You know, we don't even care how much dick we're sucking, so fuck everyone who uses a mac for more than seeing the news and mail"

    Assholes.

  • because Mac is big price $2.000 WTF? ugh

    Windows 7 + Gaming = ftw!

  • You can still download anything, the App Store is just 1 way to get apps.

There still is freedom of choice.

  • so...no more software download? meaning everithing is from apple store? i think your correct, then i should get an ipad??

  • OMG..a windows douche : /

  • I'm sure this has already been answered, but the reason for the Launchpad this is cuz obviously they're going to soon switch to touchscreen laptops and desktops....

  • You know, I think It is laudable that Apple is trying to make an OS that any idiot can use. I think computers should be easy, intuitive and usable by all. But in this case what they've accomplished is making an OS that any idiot *can* use, but which only and idiot *would* use... If you are a long-time Windows user, you will know what it means to feel like you must fight your computer to get your work done. That's what Lion feels like. Each day is more frustrating than the day before.

  • @TGPanjandrum Brilliant!

  • I really like Lion...I haven't had any problems with it thus far. I really like all the new gestures they added. I think Launchpad is great for keeping all my apps organized and mission control works fine. I really don't understand why everyone is freaking out. I guess its just personal preference.

  • The requirements are overboard... my computer isnt that old, but im not spending more money just to do an update.
