Getting an impression at Kaufman Orthodontics

I'm super nervous for my impressions for my palate expander! I've had three impressions done before and I have a small mouth so I gag. The last time I had impressions done I gagged three times...lol

I got my molds last week now I'm getting braces on Wednesday. Molds aren't as bad as some people say. I guess it just depends on a persons gag reflex. I was afraid I was gonna barf too but I only gagged once. But it does taste bad! It's like gross medicine (gross medicine like the brown kind) and u just sit there for like 5 minutes with it in y'all mouth!

hmm a lot of people say it taste bad!! the last time i got it, it didn't taste bad.. like there was flavor and i think i got like grape or something ..sadly i have braces again but getting them off on Feb 14! :D in my opinion impressions are not bad at all! i don't gag, throw up any of that .. sorry about the people who do.. :P

It doesn't taste bad it's just that it feels like u have a heap of gum in ur mouth and if u have a small mouth like I do u will maybe gag just whoever is wiv u like mum or dad get them to hol ur hand down like what my dad did to me cuz I was trying 2. Push the dentist away so yeh

Does anybody know if there's a way around getting the impressions done for a really nervous patient? I have to get impressions done but i absolutely hate going to the dentist. I won't do it if there's no way to relax me. Its a pity you can't be put to sleep or something along those lines =( I'd have it done long go...

I gag really easily, so when I got my impressions done, the lady offered me to numb my throat so I wouldn't feel it. The spray they use to numb is the worst part, it tastes like voit, cherries, and dog crap. At least it's a step up from their so called "tropical flavored" molding material. :P

hahaha they had to redo mine 2 times, because of air bubbles, then i had to get another set for invisalign....its really not as bad as some people say it is though. I didnt gag at all, but probably different for everyone

I got impressions a couple of days ago, I hated it! They used a metal tray and pink, unflavored stuff and I was gagging all over the place for the top. It was embarassing and the assistant did not tell me what to expect. This video makes it look easy.

Yeah, they weren't that bad for me. If anything, I think the wax bite was the worst 'cause she was all, "Okay, open your mouth. It's going to feel like you can't but just pull really hard." It was like biting into a Now-And-Later before it's soft and then trying to open your mouth.

I can't wait until I get my Invisalign.

Yeah, I did fine with mine. I had to get two sets of impressions done (one for the office, one for Invisalign) and they had to do the bottoms for the ones they're sending to Invisalign twice 'cause my teeth hit the tray the first time.

What my friends were telling me about gagging really made it sound worse than it was.

Yeah. After I got the first impressions done and she was setting up for the Invisalign impressions, my orthodontist peaked in and saw me texting and said, "Texting during impressions, that's impressive." And then when I was actually getting one of the impressions done I was texting. xD
